I have the new centipede, so I know what you mean about the monitor. The cab looks amazing though. ( minus the marquee ) That's a work of art. The new Joust looks amazing too.
Looks great but passed due to the marquee and non-boe monitor. Getting the Black Ms Pac instead, it has BOE, good marquee, and the better game in Ms Pac... I do like Dig Dug arcade better but...yeah. I just can't anymore with these wack misses. I passed on Centipede too due to the non-vertical screen...oof.
Take the riser apart and flip the sides. It will look better. Have the stripes come from the floor then round over, hence matching the upper cabinet better.
I actually thought about it but the stripes are not centered so if you flip them the will be pushed forward about 3-4 inches from the top stripes on the cab.
I guess if a TN is in vertically, it isn't as bad as the landscape monitor in Centipede. But I agree with you on the marquee. That's gonna need replacing. I'm having to stop buying pre-orders for the very reasons you've stated. On a disability income, I can't afford to buy something pre-ordered anymore, and have it come out as rubbish that has to be third party updated. My Tempest was about 400 new, but it badly needed updating. Between the cab, and the sloping marquee, and the waterfall panel, it's nearly 800 now. Now, the legacies are running well over half a grand, and arriving with sub standard features we have to pay even more to fix. That's just wrong. Thanks for the review. At least that Dig Dug monitor looks a little better than Centipede, so I may give that one a chance. Thanks for the review.
Welp I just got it and did a little cable mod because I wanted to hide them from the front end. I had to take out the board inside and now I can't get the blasted thing to boot. When I get it up and running again I will for sure be sharing my thoughts on it. :)

@@SavedByZero lol I did do coinopsx first! Loved it too! Then I found out you could hook a ps3 up to the machine. Loooooved that but had cables wrapped around the side that my 2year old boy kept grabbing. I drilled a whole through the front but needed to remove the main board so I didn't destroy it. I've done plenty of this kinda stuff so wasn't concerned about destroying anything. I think I just didn't hook something back right and fried something. Everything comes on but no OS. Looking into it though so fingers crossed. ;)
I honestly think you're being generous giving this cabinet a 7 or 8 out of 10. The display may ultimately be a supply chain issue but it doesn't make the compromise acceptable. The marquee is also completely within their control. Does this unit offer options for smoothing and scanlines? This is another area that Arcade1up seems to do arbitrarily.
It does offer smoothing. I forgot to get into that part my apologies. I still dig the games on system and they play well plus the cab looks fantastic plus the price is on point. I feel taking points off for the marquee and monitor type makes that number fair. The machine is still nice with a few issues. A staple of the company thus far.

I can't believe it's 2022 and they're still using gen 1 style monitor. Goes to show Arcade1UP has no quality control of these diff vendors . It's like who gave them the better bid .
The class of 81 marquee is even worse. Mine looked like the end roll of a receipt machine…. I now assume I have to change them when I get any Arcade1up’s.
I am sorry I don't remember as I sold this unit recently because I ended up getting a nice multicade. I don't remember seeing that option but not 100% sure I'm afraid as I mostly played it stock.
@@claycroft5795 hmmm that is strange. After I put in my initials it was always there in game and on the wifi leader boards. You might open a ticket with A1up because you might have a bad pcba and they are really good at sending out replacements.

Where were you able to order a new marquee, with bolder colors for the Dig Dug Arcade1up? I just purchased one and have not put it together as of yet, it is supposed to have the lit up marquee and if its washed out, I'd like to get a bolder pronounced colorful led marquee myself.
No didn't. I did the little fix in the video I posted after this and ended up selling the unit a couple of months ago to make more room for other cabs.

Nah I ended up selling this unit in favor of the atgames legends ultimate.
The Dig Dug marquee...is it a piece of plexi glass or is it the lightbox that is used on some other Arcade1Up's?
It is light box but the print on the outter plastic piece and it isn't the greatest quality.
