You are quite right concerning religion in Russia. Unfortunately it's impossible to see what Kira said before skating.. In any case it was not her day!.. She was a great skater, one of the best in Russia. And the pressure was tremendous. RIP.
The Soviet Union forced her to retire from competitive skating. She coached children in Moscow. In 2001 she was found in her apartment stabbed to death.
Poor Kira - so sad. Crazy marking here - the Japanese had her in front of Leistner who did at least 4 clean triples whereas Kira just had a double Axel. I moan so much about the COP but I forget how bad the marking was at times under the 6.0.
Is that Elena Valova in the kiss and cry with her? I cant believe she had three 5.4s for technical merit, is that a joke? And Debi Thomas who stumbled out of 3 jumps and had only 2 triples made got a 5.8 for technical merit. Horrible era for judging.

Does anyone know what happened to her after '88?
She is great, however , not this time!
rip...
I remember watching this when it was originally broadcast and thinking how bad this program was. Just boring and not emotionally gripping.
