I love how calm you are when explaining this

Before he passed, my father purchased this camera (back in 2000-2002ish). It was his pride and joy. I was thinking of selling it, but I’m tempted to learn how to use it - almost 20yrs later.

TheAristoKrat17 Sweet story. I would strongly suggest you use it. You will feel a connection to him in more ways than one. Photographers live on through their work and their choice of gear. Thanks for sharing!

I hope you didn't sell it. The camera isn't worth more than like 50$ now, and just the sentimental value of it for you wouldn't be worth the justification to sell it.

I have the rebel g in black. Add to it a new EF-S 24mm. $129 lens. (You will have to cut the plastic ring off the back of the lens) Then it will work on the camera. Now you have a great small auto focus film camera. I use it for street photography. Nothing beats film in the street. All the best Jim from Georgia.

That is a great tip. How did you cut off that piece? What tool did you use? I have one too that I would like to adapt to fit my cameras.

@@vintagetechmall there are 2 screws on the side to remove the electrical contacts. Once they are removed you can cut the plastic ring off the back with a coping saw or use a metal hand saw blade. You don’t need to cut it all the way down to the metal. Just enough to allow the lens to fit into the camera enough to seat the lens into place. Finish up with sandpaper to clean up the edges. If you left some high spots, use a razor knife to knock down any high spots. Then replace contacts. Prime lenses should be no problem. If using a zoom, you might not be able to zoom in all the way. As you will get a circular exposure. There are RUclips videos you can search converting a EF-S to EF. For different ideas. Always enjoy your videos!

@@vintagetechmall one more note. Some lenses you can pull off the black trim ring and it will work. But on my 24mm I couldn’t get it to come off.

My favorite feature of my Rebel G is the super quiet shutter! Much quieter than my EOS 10s :) Thanks for posting about it!

I was also pleasantly surprised with the Rebel G - it is a very capable camera. I pair mine with the Canon 40mm f2.8 pancake lens for a super lightweight rig that’s easy to carry around all day. Thanks for this review!

Good looking camera and you sure can't complain about the quality of those photos Ben ! Very Nice ! I just was given a Canon EOS Elan 7 35mm SLR body only, I was glad to see he had the cover that protected the mirror & censor. I have a 28 -300 Sigma and when I find the right batteries for it I will try it out. He also sent me 5 rolls of 120 B&W so I am ready for your contest with the TLR on February 31st ! LOL ! Take care my friend !

I picked up a solid black version last weekend for $12.99 American, with the 35-80mm kit lens. The shutter seemed stuck after loading in new batteries, but after brutalizing my hand with it, something "unstuck" and it works great now. Will be blasting a roll through it and check it out.
While I do love my FD Canons and will never not shoot them, it seems to capable.
    Great video, thanks.

Got one light as hell and a great camera but heavily let down by the expensive pathetic batteries you have to buy for them, you can get a grip which takes 4 AA but defeats the purpose , only reason I use a Nikon F90 is great camera and 4 cheap AA and they last .....:)

True. Those batteries are a pain to replace, for sure. Thanks for watching.

    Good little review Ben.
Quick question, what happened to your Flickr page you use to have. Looks like you’ve deleted all your images and only kept a few.

Hey Jas. Glad you noticed. Flickr changed their storage limits for the free account, so I cleared my photos with the intention of only reuploading my best photos. Then I lost my hard drive with all my scans, which I talked about in a previous episode. I still have all the negatives fortunately, just have not yet found the time to dedicate to scanning yet as I am in the middle of pushing my business now. I will get it done, in a couple of months, I'm sure 😊
