- Join myself, Andrew and Hugo as we hike the tallest mountain in Taipei (Mt, Qixing 1,120m) and check out the fumaroles before heading into the city for a deliciously pongy snack!

You don’t need a car to do this hike as you can catch the 260 bus from downtown Taipei to Yangmingshan Park HQ where the trail starts.
Then you can catch the 108 shuttle bus from the endpoint at Xiaoyoukeng back to the park HQ.

I can also recommend another thing to do, end your trip in Beitou, book a hot spring bath and take a hot spring, they offer day bath as well as optional staying a night at the hot spring hotel, although this experience is getting expensive as many Beitou hot spring hotels/resorts has done up and improve to 5 stars standards....
If I do it will be off camera. RUclips is not ready for 3 old men in a hot spring!

Well done Richard, enjoyed it very much. Nice scenery and from the looks of it, fine cool weather too. However, i must take my hat off you for your fermented tofu adventure! I cannot even go near it because of strong smell. I have yet to overcome it. An acquired taste I guessed.

北橫拉拉山神木和太平山更適合喜歡爬山的人。
I'm usually not a prude when it comes to food, Richard, but the one thing that I really can't handle is fermented tofu. I'm almost surprised because I love all fermented foods; tempeh, kimchi, natto... I guess it really is the smell that turns me off.
Actually, it wasn't that smelly. Or maybe I'm immune these days?

A nice hike Richard and with old friends . Tofu is an acquired taste i believe and i haven't really tried it but you never know :-)
Tofu itself doesn't have much taste to acquire, but the fermented stuff in next level.

Nice clear view from the top, in the beginning of your video especially after the typhoon. All the pollution washed away. Japan was also hit by 2 typhoons within 2 weeks. But the 2nd Typhoon wasnt as strong as the 1st. Heavy rain hit South of Japan, as usual, they get hit really bad before it went to Shanghai.

Compulsory at the moment, even when outside hiking. Which I think is a bit silly. But them's the rules.

Unless they don't make it anymore... But you should have tried 臭膏 (stinky paste) at Dai's. As you can probably tell by its name, this stinky tofu no longer resembles tofu. It has disintegrated into some slimy gooey paste after the long fermentation process. Edited to add that 臭膏 is not on the menu. You'd have to ask for it.
