    Sweet is so wrong ... the problem with Smoke wasn't that he moved on. The problem was that Smoke sold out his friends. Friends, family - that's what it is really about. Sweet is incapable of recognizing that these things are the heart of his "hood". But you can take care of friends and family elsewhere too. CJ would only be like Smoke if he had sold out someone.

      @lionking1m136 2 года назад +5

      Yeah

    • @ExtortedSins
      @ExtortedSins 2 года назад +31

      It always bothered me that cj got compared to smoke in that cutscene, cj worked his ass off to get sweet out of jail and took kendl to safety before making his next moves. Sweet always talks about what he did when cj ran to LC and while it was fucked that cj left, it’s that same thing of the hood never letting you live something down, I’m not sure how Brian died but probably in a driveby shooting and cj either panicked or wasn’t quick enough and was ran out of his own hood by his brother and own friends and gang. However he more than redeems himself by putting his family first over everything and the gang second, that’s how all gangsters should be and most gangsters do think because loyalty is everything but blind loyalty is also bad in gang life.

    • @bre4kd0wn1
      @bre4kd0wn1 2 месяца назад

      @@ExtortedSinsCJ never even truly left San Andreas. According to Tenpenny, if we believe what he said, the gang (presumably GSF themselves) ran CJ out of town.
      Don't get us started how Sweet claimed that nobody gave a damn about the hood, yet apparently, he himself didn't give a damn and just let everything crumbled, according to Big Bear in a cut content.
      It's also worth mentioning how the hood needed financial backings. The Ballas had not only Big Smoke, but also some dealings with foreigners during Gray Imports mission, while the Vagos had Big Poppa. What did the Grove Street have? No one. It's why Smoke said to Sweet in Drive-thru mission, "Respect has to be earned, Sweet, just like money" What he was trying to say is that Sweet should earn some money for the hood.

    - Acting as your chauffeur for doing drive-bys on Ballas

  • @Wglass90

    At this point of the story was when I felt that Sweet was borderline psychotic of wanting to go back to the hood and gang banging when there was actually other safe options (in which Carl worked hard to get) available. Although, it's been evidently shown that Sweet not only has a huge ego but he's selfishly power hungry as well, and the Grove is the only place where he knows he can be the boss and be treated like a god. Probably wouldn't be the same result elsewhere which is why he's against the idea of leaving. Then he shelters all these actual emotions by making Carl out to be the selfish one when in reality Sweet is. Carl risked his life from San Fierro to Venturas to keep Kendl and his friends safe and to get Sweet out of prison while trying to make a better life for him and his family. I say his "debt" to Sweet is more than paid.

    • @gameexpert2011
      @gameexpert2011 8 лет назад +165

      +Wglass90 I completely understand with what you are saying, but the reason why Sweet is very pissed at CJ is because he doesn't even mention the hood, or how to take down the Ballas/Big Smoke anymore. CJ doesn't have the mindset of a gang member anymore at this point of the game. Sweet's point of view is he's been in LS all his life, and his life is basically Grove Street and the only people left he can talk to is CJ and his grunts. CJ, on the other hand, isn't even interested in killing Big Smoke or Ballas anymore. You know, right after the mission "The Green Sabre" CJ's mindset was still like a gang member and he wanted to get Sweet out of jail so he can get his revenge on Big Smoke asap. He's mind interest shifted when he killed Ryder, because he felt so much grief about it. That's another reason why CJ wants to forget his past, he killed his childhood friend, and even though Ryder betrayed CJ, CJ feels remorse about it. When CJ started to own businesses such as Wang Cars. Basically, his mind of being a gangster is completely over once he starts the first mission for Toreno aka unlocking the Desert and Las Venturas. A very weird thing about Gta San Andreas is, they never mention about Ryder selling them out, even though he clearly did. Sweet and CJ never mention about Ryder betraying them.

    Sweet is just being stubborn because outside of Grove St he isn't worth his weight in shit he just won't admit that It's the only life he knows and he's scared of letting it go..
    THIS is where Carls biggest ark SHOULD have been. Carl should have stood up to him after all he went through, saw and achieved. Got in Sweets face and made him realize how selfish and single minded he was being. Initially it would drive the brothers apart but eventually Sweet would begin to see how cancerous his lifestyle was and how his actual family is more important that "the" family. The two would tie up loose ends in the final mission get rid of the other gangs in LS and disband GSF for good

      I feel it would have left off with a worthwhile message about gang life. Carl is forced into a position where he has to leave the family and make something of himself and winds up prospering all over the state. For what little useless perks there were for controlling east LS after beating the game, at the end of the day the overall conclusion should have been that Carl was better off outside a life of gang banging than he was in it. I'd like to think if you went and asked any crip or blood they would all admit that they wished they had the chance to do something a little more worthwhile with their life.

Sweet didn't do jack shit prior to Carl's return in LS, and after CJ explained to Sweet what he did to earn a mansion and nearly every asset in both SF and LV, Sweet still feels insecure deep down and tries to accuse Carl for running away from the hood at an attempt to mask his envy towards him. The comment about Kendl at the end summed up how selfish Sweet can be. Expecting everyone to come to him because the hood is the only place he ever wants to be. CJ went through so much to get him released. But just because he and Kendl found a life outside the hood, he resents them for it. He doesn't want a life outside of Grove Street, so expects his brother and sister to do the same. CJ went on to own numerous business's, make new friends, and still made time to get Sweet out of prison. Kendl had to get out or like CJ she'd have probably ended up being killed, so she made the best of the situation with Cesar in the countryside. They actually made a life for themselves outside the hood and realised there's more to life, especially CJ. Something Sweet just couldn't understand or accept.

      @@izbillzies4239 By still being a criminal, just taking it up to eleven. If he hadn't returned to the hood, by the way, Big Bear for one would have been done for, dying as B Dup's crack slave. So in the end he did the right thing, since he'll always be a scumbag.

    Sweet is lucky CJ got out of the hood. Otherwise he'd still be rotting in jail. I can understand wanting to get back home, but it really pissed me off when he asks CJ what'd he ever do for their hood. CJ returns to LS after 5 years, mourns the death of his mother and literally does everything for the Sweet and the rest of the Families. And what they ever do for him? Nothing positive. When he returned, they were pretty much nobody and had nothing. Even Sweet says at the start of Reuniting the Families that CJ got them back up to power practically by himself. After this mission CJ asks when will Sweet cut him some slack. Sweet's response was when Carl stops thinking he's the man. Goes on to tell Carl about how he stole money when Kendl needed shoes or when their mother needed medical treatment. After leaving again, CJ then he kills the Loco Syndicate, including his former friend Ryder. CJ then kills Pulaski just after Pulaski killed Hernandez. Throughout the game up until this point, Sweet was a lovable character. But after this mission, I can't help but hate him.

    It's one of the best bits. There's Toreno, an intelligent spy, stereotypical flag-waving agent character with Cold War experience. Sweet & Carl, he won't change his ways because he's so used to it, CJ has made something else of himself and the only reason Sweet is out but still critical as the older one.
