As a child we only played multiplayer this is literally my first time seeing this boss let alone anything past the first 2 missions 🤣 what a gem this game was I use to love that little dog and robot
This boss fight was a real pain in the backside back in the day! Hitting that thing on his back was far from easy and I remember running out of ammo several times trying to beat him. Also the electric hand attack would zap my health so fast if I wasn't timing my jumps perfectly. Tough nut to crack but oh so satisfying when I finally did it!
There is something so hilarious about the tribals being named Barry and Jeff. Although I’m sure that’s what they were going for to keep it a little light hearted
It sounds like you're referring to a storyline or plot involving characters named Barry, Mizar, and Floyd. Could you provide more context or clarify which story or universe this is from?
The first time I ever played the Twin Mantis I thought they were kind of difficult but they’re a joke now. Mizar though. I still usually don’t beat him on the first try when I speed run this every blue moon. He’s surprisingly difficult considering how easy every other boss is. Gotta have your capacity maxed out with Juno or it can get rough.
I think I collected all upgrades back in the day... But not enough on Juno so couldn't beat him. A soft lock before that was ever a term, or at least it seemed like it.
Tough boss. I do remember you can hit him with a tri-rocket launcher as he flies toward you for his scythe attack. That was easier than using homing missiles IIRC. Took me over 30 tries to beat this boss for the first time back in 1999.
To have a fair chance against Mizar, here is generally what my ammo capacity ends up when i replay the game: Tri-Rockets: 55 Homing Missiles: 55 Machine Gun: 450-500 Full Health Bar The rest of the weapons are not needed unless u are out of the 3 i mentioned then it would be nigh impossible to beat him.
@@jaybling6687 I got the dodging down, but the hardest part for me was ammo. If you didn't land those precious few rocket shots then its was pretty much game over. Make sure you only fight him with max rocket ammo and learn the strafing and jumping patterns for his attacks.
Watchmojo did the top 10 Hardest bosses in N64 games and they put Mizar in number 3 and they put Wizpig from Diddy Kong Racing, Mizar deserves the top spot.
It's that damn electric hand attack he does that pisses me off. Everything else is easy to dodge, but that hand attack can ruin your attempt in a split second. On the Xbox one version there's a massive input delay by like half a second so you can't properly time it.
In my opinion, the mantis fight was the hardest. Even videos how to fight them didnt help. After watching this video, the mizar fight took just like 5 tries to beat him. I even couldn´t tell, if this video really helped me. But i can tell, that the beam out of his arm was very annoying. After all it was very satisfying, to beat the game to the very end. And it fascinates me, how much i can discover in this game wich fits in a very limited space on a cartridge.
A very well designed level and boss fight, though it was kind of disappointing that Mizar was just Barry. Mizar being Barry caused a whole thing not to make sense like whole origin of all the Drone army, it would have been better if MIzar was just actually the Drone leader as he appears.
It sounds like you're referring to a character or a scenario from a story or a game. Could you provide more context or details about Mizar and the robot costume?
It sounds like you're describing a cyborg mecha, which typically combines mechanical and biological components. This hybrid nature allows for a blend of human and machine capabilities, often seen in futuristic or sci-fi settings.
@@jacobdeweil3553 Thank you for your response even if it is late, but I followed a guide but I don't know why I didn't get 55 Tri Rockets, I obtained 50, but in exchange I got 60 Homing Missiles.
I followed this guide but I don't know why I didn't get 55 Tri Rockets, I obtained 50, but in exchange I got 60 Homing Missiles: For Juno to get 55 guided missiles and tri-rockets: Step 1: Get all 3 ammo upgrades for both weapons during Juno's story. You need to have 20 for both weapons when you fly to Mizars Palace. Step 2: After you get the armor upgrades and all 3 characters are now playable, head to Eschebone as Juno. Don't worry about the tribals. That's reserved for Vela. If you want the ship to reach the planet as a mini detour, go ahead. However, progress through the level until you reach the room with the magenta key. Pick it up and leave the planet. Step 3: Head to the first playable level of Spawnship or Lupus. Head to the lava room where there is the shocking weapon, the ship part, and 4 ammo upgrades for both weapons. You have 40 capabilities for homing and tri Rockets after this step. Step 4: Head to Sekhmet, still as Juno. Head to the room where you got the machine gun as Vela during her story arc. Look for the closed magenta door in that room. With the key in Juno's collection, you can obtain the remaining three 3 upgrades for both weapons to bring them to 55 capacity. I'm missing 5 Tri Rockets, and I don't know where they are, I would like to know where they are, or, I don't know if I missed doing something in that guide, as far as I know I did everything.
I was hoping the final boss of this game would be an ass kicker, and boy did he deliver. It was so satisfying to blow his arms off at the very end, although in one of my attempts I got to his grounded phase with 1 health left and died right before I could kill him... I wish more games could have this level of difficulty! I want to EARN finishing the game!
Most impressive. I can never figure out how to get to the final boss. The game like a damn puzzle if ya miss something. And I did somewhere. Still I got close.
10:45 maybe it’s best I didn’t make it this far into the game as a kid cause that’s sad asf my boy Floyd really died
As a child we only played multiplayer this is literally my first time seeing this boss let alone anything past the first 2 missions 🤣 what a gem this game was I use to love that little dog and robot
this game shuld to be remastered or remaked
And have a unique final boss music.
Tell me about it
Agreed, especially for the switch with the difficulty spike lowered to an extent
12:07 it was nice of the failed character models to come to the coronation
The back row is made of cardboard
I really wish this game would be remade. Give Jet Force Gemini the fresh coat of paint it deserves!

'meh name jeff' 😂
I find it hard to believe that Barry created Mizar, but at least he regretted it and because of it, Floyd sacrificed himself to save the galaxy
It sounds like you're referring to a storyline or plot involving characters named Barry, Mizar, and Floyd. Could you provide more context or clarify which story or universe this is from?
I used to love this game when I was like 3 or 4 years old not knowing what I was doing just killing ants lol
I never made it this far into the game cause i never managed to save all those damn Tribals but goddamn...the amount of health you lose is ridiculous
this boss absolutely terrified me as a kid lmaooo i still haven't beaten the game

WatchMojo placed this battle on their “Top Ten Hardest Bosses in Video Games” list.
Sound about right?
I got 100% of all items, but I've never been able to defeat this boss.

Finally got him

Probably because it was a cyborg mecha, with mechanical and biological components.

Is the maximum number of homing missiles that Juno can carry is 25? I say this because I have seen someone who had 55 of those missiles.
I have 55 with Lupus
No you can get 55 tri rockets and homing missiles for Juno. No hacks needed.

For real. This boss really screams, "You want to beat the game? You've got to earn it, first."
Zelda Ocarina of Time and Jet Force Gemini are the best games on N64 imo. The Mantis were harder than the Asteroid´s Mizar.
Most impressive. I can never figure out how to get to the final boss. The game like a damn puzzle if ya miss something. And I did somewhere. Still I got close.
If you didn't get all ship pieces, you need to rescue all Tribals to get them. It's mandatory to rescue all tribals.
I didnt realize Floyd died at the end 😳
😢😢😢
So i only have 20 tri rocket and 5 homing with Juno.
Im screw 🫤
15 of the homing missiles in on Tawfret
20 on Swampship after Jetpack upgrade for Homing missiles and Tri- Rockets
15 on Sekhmet for both weapons
