You warmed the heart of an old rock DJ with some Jimi. If I had been a cartoon character, a light bulb would have gone off over my head as you played those chords.

Awesome! I have a set of harmonicas that I have never used! You have inspired me to pull them out and give it a shot if I can just find the time! Thanks Rusty!
Hi Eric, love your style man, and really enjoyed your circle of 5ths lesson. I'm fairly new to your site. Have you done any Barry White or any Bowie, e.g. Golden Years or Young Americans. Have always been a big fan of Carlos Alomar and Mike Garson? Regards Paul
Hi Paul! No Barry White yet, but I have been building a Bowie Playlist that I will add to from time to time. Here is the link to it! ruclips.net/p/PLHdKL0zeGNk5meQK5Dyf6fmY6-h2rFOUU Thanks for watching pal!
Couple of beginner questions. Does the circle follow the WWHWWWH formula AND I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use/apply this while learning a song or why?
The circle of fifths is for figuring out how many sharps or flat notes are in a key or for learning to choose keys based on sharps and flats. Here is a playlist that might help with understanding how all this works. Thanks for watching T! ruclips.net/p/PLHdKL0zeGNk4R4E76NWE2JF18aWWPsaJ_
The mirror of 5ths/4ths decoding the circle after 300+ years with its universal mnemonic device is in alternative to the circle of 5ths for those who find the latter a bit hard to understand and memorize.

On the piano the sharps / flats are black keys. For the the guitar, you can use my fretboard videos. Thanks for watching! ruclips.net/video/RwzEuUVQnyA/видео.html
+EricBlackmonGuitar Thanks for the reply Eric. Yes, the black keys are the sharps and flats, but is there a rule that tells me which of those black keys is the sharp to use? For example, for the G major scale, is there a rule that explains why the F is sharp? Same for the other scales e.g. D major scale has an F sharp and a C sharp, but why those black keys and not two other black keys in the scale? Just trying to wrap my head around the logic of it so I don't have to rely on the chart. I hope that makes sense. I enjoy your videos.
The F# is required to make the G scale match the interval set of the C major scale. In keys other than C, sharps must be inserted to create the major scale sound. Thanks.
great lesson eric.i love the way you but it to the test brother and played hey joe!I wish I had half the knowledge about guitar and theory you have.eric gives us a maggot brain lesson.

I grasp the concept but not its application even though I've been playing and reading music for over fifty years. Like I am looking through a window without opening the curtain-ha. Got a pair of glasses I can use?
Hi Kim! The Circle Of 5ths is simply a musical tool that you use to determine the 5th note in a key or the number of sharps in that key. Like any tool, it can't help you unless you have a use for it. Based on where you are in your musical travels, you may not need it at all. Some musicians use it every day! If a person plays from written music or has to figure out keys on a regular basis, they might use the circle daily. Others not so much. Thanks so much for watching my video! Major and minor keys are ruled by the same circle. Thanks for watching!
