It's funny that the higher end PC VR headsets are all above 1000 Euros and seem to be getting more expensive. You then need the PC to run it. I'd say realistically you need a 2000+ Euros PC to get the most out of them. I am a PC man but if you can get a PS5 and PSVR2 headset for under 1000 Euros, honestly it's getting very hard to recommend the PC option to my friends. I know there's many pro's with the PC but for a gamer interested in VR my advice would now be get a Playstation. Great in depth review Thomas as usual.

For what I know actually cheap pancake lenses, as in Pico 4, suffer from low transfer function (lenses cut off most of the brightness of the display, resulting in darker visuals and less vibrant colors) and from bigger distortion/aberration in the periphery (inducing more sickness)

Playing with the PSVR2 all day I would say OLED isn't worth the trade off. The pixel arrangement is very obvious and prevents it from looking very sharp. I mean it's shap enough I can see the screendoor. The blurring is pretty bad and the chromatic abberation is really bad. The FOV is great compared to my Quest 2 and much better than my Reverb G2, seems similar to the Index. For a very affordable $500 headset is pretty good but not making me wish I could hook it up to my PC. I still greatly prefer the Reverb G2. Great review. interesting how we differ. (Im new to VR)
.I think the god rays are really bad with black screen and white text... but other than that I very rarely will see it (so far)
.I was able to put on my controllers (testing it) without pass through.. so its possible with some practice if you want.
.FOV is serviceable to me. the Stereoscopic effect is about equal to my real life (where my nose blocks.. so Im only missing 2D periphery.. so its good enough, but certain situations the real life 170° would be useful with multiple enemies.
.I dont think the wireless would be better in today's VR offering.
.I was actually very pleased with the provided earbuds. Mine stayed in even after brushing the wire with my arm from climbing. the heaphone sound quality is also not middle of the road. Slightly better than your average earbud so its actually going to be my audio of choice when Im not sharing my headset (at which point Im using my high end over ear headphones)
.I differ in my clarity satisfaction. Even when in focus.. things are just... kind of a soft clarity. I take it off and look at my TV and the TV is definitely more clear.. but should be expected as the VR screen is incredibly close to my face lol

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that most people complaining about blurriness are VR newbies. I’m convinced a lot of people aren’t wearing the headset right unfortunately. For Most people, the image is clear and sharp. The only way your VR can be blurry is if your headset is not worn right or you got a defective unit. But as of now, I’m leaning towards people not wearing it right. Many people resolved their “blur” issues by simply following instructions. You would be surprised how many people did not follow directions! Pushing the headband towards the far back of your head makes the world a difference.

The more I see this from the developer's view the more I realize why making it backwards compatible would have been a terrible idea. There would have been many incompatibilities when trying to convert the entire Move based library with external camera and light sensing to an internal tracking system w/ 2 Sense controllers. Or would they still have people use Move controllers to preserve the integrity of the game? The whole idea becomes very messy. Then you have the very blurry graphics of many first PSVR games which would look out of place with PSVR2 games. Would the developer still have to update all of this manually? And work for free to make, those of us would bought it years ago, for $3, happy? I don't think any developer would want to agree to that.
The best option is the one they have taken... Upgrade the best of the best, from last gen.. Give them perfected Sense controls, haptic feedback - in controller/HMD, adaptive triggers, much improved resolution, HDR support, Tempest 3D audio support, and maybe charge $5 or so for existing owners to upgrade. That sounds like the most fair deal for both the owner and the publisher.

    Bad:
7:42 you can see the chromatic abberation (fringing of the colors blue and red). You have to put the headset perfectly to minimize it but that tiny sweet spot wouldn't stay where I wanted. I thought it was my lenses misaligned anwas going to to return it. But watching these videos I see them everywhere. For regular folks it prevents certain objects from being sharp. Hate the halo strap because uber tight is the only adjustment. I still want a counterweight but my VR Balance is too heavy and won't fit.
The cable is a meter or two too short for roomscale and I tried running it up on the pulley system and it was too short.
    Audio. Really? Little earbuds?
    Good:
FOV I was pleasantly surprised it was much bigger than Quest 2 and Reverb G2.
Colors are vibrant and black is black.
Games are great like Resident Evil Village which I can't run the mod on my PC with 3080ti. GT7. But would be nice to see more Sony titles and Half Life Alyx for those missing out. .
Price. Yes it's a bargain and makes up for everything else. If you own a playstation 5 is a no braner. If you own a PC... got to with HP Reverb G2 despite the fov. It supplanted my Pimax 8k+.

I'd prefer off ear speakers, but was surprised with the quality of sound from the earbuds - which I intended to throw away.

You think games like Pavlov, Re 8, GT7, Moss 1, Moss 2, Kayak are rubbish? Yea right I don’t believe you even own a PSVR2.

You want resolution? Look into varjo areo. With a 4090 iam running most games at 90hz at nearly 4k an eye.

Returned mine aswell, it was so blurry in the corners. When I held my head steady and just looked around all corners were blurry. Only the center had normal resolution. Horizon felt like an old ps4 game

It gets blurry (visual fidelity), shades of the first one. Can't say I'm impressed with it at all. Talk about pre-release bias reviews from people who got sent one. No different than the PSVR 1 when you're in a game or on the main menu. Same quality pretty much. I am not joking. And how hard is it to add a media player with a 360 video option?

@@dylandavies9553 We know there's a filter applied and softening of fidelity to ensure high frame rate. It's not a crisp image. Even SadleyItsBradley agrees the image is not sharp and he's the authority on VR, he talked about it in a recent youtube live stream and will be doing video on it soon.

Yep. I was by no means blown away. I have only used a PSVR1, I have 3 of them. Hitman 3 on PSVR1 looks as good as any of the 7 games I played when I tested my PSVR2.
The headset is on ot comfortable. I couldn't play more than 2.5 hours before having to take it off. I could do 10 hour stretches in my PSVR1 with no issue.
I actually don't like the controllers either. As silly as it sounds, I much prefer the old wand in my hand.
      Wish I would've waited.
