    Thanks for the video! Good info. I plan on ordering this one for the new system build. Currently running an Asus Formula VIII with an i7-6700k/1080Ti, which I was giving to the wife. Bought an Asus Strix DDR4, i7-12700k and 3080Ti for my new system. Then decided to give that setup to the wife. Ordered myself an Asus TUF DDR4, an i7-13700k, Asus TUF 4090. Returned the Asus TUF DDR4 and i7-13700k, ordered an Asus TUF DDR5, and an i9-13900k. Now planning on returning the TUF DDR5 motherboard and getting the Strix Z790-E. (all items still new in box, free returns.) Only have a few more parts to buy before the new builds start.
    Update: Shipped the TUF Z790 this morning. Received the credit about two hours later. Z790-E arrives tomorrow. (very impressed with Amazon free returns and super-fast account crediting)
    Fair winds and following seas to all.

    My research indicates that you don't want to use Slot 1 NVME 5.0, nor do you want to use slot 2 as it also drops the top X16 PCIE slot to X8 for the GPU. It should be installed in one of the Chipset M.2 4.0/3.0 slots. yes, it is slightly slower... but it won't be that noticeable if at all. I just bought this Motherboard for my Lian Li O11D Evo RGB Lamborghini edition build.😃

    I wish this was made back in January. I'm currently building a new PC with this board and I have x5 4TB nvme drives.
    I guess I'll have to take the one out of slot 1 so I don't hinder my ROG Strix 4090.
    This was meant to be a machine for blender/z-brush with some video editing and gaming.

  • @rastanz

    You moved your GPU to the PCIe 4.0 slot by the end of the video, I was hoping you'd leave it in the PCie 5.0 slot and run a test with the alternating PCIe switch on the motherboard to see if it hinders performance if switching through the different modes, auto, PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 3.0. Perhaps the PCIe 3.0 switch is a mode compatible for gen 3 GPU's? I would've thought that PCIe slots would be backwards compatible on the latest motherboards anyway and not require a switch that would enable you to chose 4.0 or 3.0.

    What does it mean when it shares lanes with the gpu? Why dont you want to use that slot? Does it slow the gpu or m.2 down?

    • @Mannyocrity
      @Mannyocrity  Месяц назад +1

      Basically it will share the lanes, so the 16 lanes are shared between the two slots. You most likely will not see any difference if the lanes are shared. It is more important if you are over clocking and trying to squeeze every ounce of power out of your rig.

    Can you approve this, I’m building now my PC.
    1) I got two M.2 PCI 4 NVMes (1TB and 2TB)
    The correct way to install them is one m.2 (1TB)on slot 2 (for best cpu performance)
    And one(2TB) in other 3-5 slots?
    2) if I had M.2 PCI 5.0 NVMe only then put it on slot 1?
    I got RTX 4090 if that matters

    • @Mannyocrity
      @Mannyocrity  7 месяцев назад

      It shares the lanes, so it will go from 16x to 8x, so it is true that the lanes will not slow down, but you have less of them. They didn't lie, but didn't tell you the whole truth

What could be causing this? Should I disconnect one ESP from the PSU?

    Challenge - I have read/seen info that the sharing of the lanes for this port is not an issue as stated at this point in the vid "ruclips.net/video/tMljXfWQDwU/видео.html". Some say this will never be an issue due to the bit rates and speed of the channel versus the ability of the vid sys to demand bandwidth...

    I must respectfully disagree with your statement regarding the installation of the M.2 drive in the M.2 - Socket (2) on the ROG STRIX Z790-E. Based on my understanding, the M.2 - Socket (1) on this motherboard is directly linked to the CPU, resulting in lower latency and optimal performance compared to the M.2 slot connected to the chipset. Therefore, I would recommend installing the M.2 drive in the M.2 - Socket (1) for optimal performance. I hope this information proves useful to you.
