Steve DeBergs great season. Derrick Thomas 7 sack game. First of eight straight playoff seasons.
Miss those classic NFL yearbooks from the late 80s to the early 90s. Steve Deberg was awesome in 1990. 23 td passes with only 4 ints.
Albert Lewis had 20 ints after he's first 4 seasons in NFL. He and Kevin Ross combined for 82 ints in their careers.
Lewis (44)
Ross (38)
1990 Chiefs. The team that kept Arrowhead filled for next 30 years.
DT had 7 sacks vs Seattle. Never forget watching that game. Should of had 8 and we would have won.
Crazy, the year I became a Chiefs fan, 1990. My first game vs Broncos, Dec1990. I was 13. After 30 years being a fan? Look back at this actually being THE MOST IMPORTANT season in Chiefs step towards becoming a relevant team in modern era of NFL. What Marty did for this franchise? Imo, still more important than what Reid has done. Reid has been basically perfect. What Marty was able do with DeBerg? UNREAL. ...Never been, old QB. Was able squeeze 31 wins out him in 3 year span. 3 postseasons.
True but Marty had Rich Gannon in '95 & '97 but let him sit on the bench in two winnable playoff games. Reid recognized that Alex Smith was not the guy to take us to the next level.
@@G0ChiefsYeah I remember in 97 when Elvis got hurt, Gannon stepped in and lead them on a winning streak which gave them home field in the playoffs. And how does Marty reward him, he benches him in the playoffs for a healthy Elvis and they lose.
That offensive line of Chiefs fr 90-95 was fantastic. One most overlooked/undervalued lines in NFL history.
The year i became a chiefs fan
I miss DT#58 always a Legend (RIP😪😪😪)
Also another nasty DT that passed was buck buchanan
RIP Marty Schottenheimer
This is a game of the heart!
...and the sweet Chiefs sweater Marty has on
2020 , going to the bowl, one play at a time, been waiting my whole life. GO CHIEFS.
Derrick Thomas historic game that season.
R.I.P. Marty Schottenheimer
His Philosophy was simple in Kansas City
One Play at a time
One Game at a time
One step at a time
Rip Marty Schottenheimer
I always remember this team from tecmo Super Bowl
Percy Snow was selected in the 1st round with the 13th pick.
The Cowboys selected Emmitt Smith with the 17th pick.
Percy Snowwas involved in an accident while riding a scooter during training camp in 1991. He sustained season-ending injuries to his knee in the wreck and never fully recovered from the accident. His career ended after only three active seasons (he spent 1991 on injured reserve) with just one start in his final two.
"Steve.... get it together and put the son-of-a-bitch in the end zone"
😄 classic Marty
The DeBerg season. He brought it in 1990.
If only the Chiefs could play defense like this in 2019, we wouldn't have to watch another Superbowl with the Patriots.
Perpetual.Art True.... Hurts... But true
Rip Derrick Thomas no58
That year had a little bit of everything. That was a very tough loss for the Chiefs. If Lowery makes that field goal, that year could have been different.
The playoffs that year ended sadly but there acouple games that year they lost but should've won that year was perhaps Steve Deberg's greatest seasons hardly threw an INT that year their ball control was supurb and they we're able to control the clock one of their best years W/O a SB
@@MA-vd3ln what Marty did with DeBerg in 90, 91 seasons was unreal. He was a loser his whole career. First year I became a fan, 1990. DeBerg to jj birden play-acton was incredible. I think to this day I've never seen a better "selller" of the play-acton than Steve DeBerg. Some those 90-97 Chiefs teams were better overall teams than even 2019 season Chiefs. Just missing nxt level QB to advance us in playoffs.
Sorry, love Oldman Montana. But he was at end of his rope. Montana compared to generation X QBs like Brady, Big Ben, Rivers, Rodgers of today? Montana looked 60. Chiefs had no prob making the postseason. We hoped Joe could get us to at least SB. I know he got hurt vs Bills, but we were over matched even still. Kelly was nxt level QB, still in his prime. Bills had an offense like Chiefs of 2020. But they didn't have goat te of all-time, Kelce.
If they hadn’t blown the game against Seattle, they would have won the division, got a first round bye and avoided Miami all together.
McNair catch and run with DeBerg looking at 100 yds grass in front him was unreal.
i miss Derrick Thomas to if he hadn't die and neal Smith didn't go to denver the chiefs would have been in and won a super bowl championship go chiefs
Dave Szott had a holding call in the drive that Lowery missed fg. Great defense and a play action offense that was hard to stop
Chiefs never missed the playoffs while I was in High School 1991-95
Jason Peter's lol I was in elementary school by the time I was in 7th grade they wasn’t the same Marty Shottenheimer team they were when I was going to elementary school the first half of the 1990s was a fun time for the Kansas City Chiefs though back then
My hometown team never won more than six games in a season while I was in high school. I’m from Detroit. Lol
Chiefs defense fr 1990-97? One best in NFL history. Honestly, there were a couple teams in that span that were better overall teams than 2019 SB winning Chiefs. Just needed what you have to have in NFL to win in postseason. A next level QB.
There were only two games that season in which Deberg threw an interception as 3 came in one game and 1 in the other 15 games.
DeBerg was best play-acton QB ever imo. He fucking sold it better than any1. You always knew when he had some1 by his throw.
Play-action DeBerg to JJ Birden
Chiefs and Raiders defense that season.....woooo! Chiefs went (3-0) vs Raiders that season.
OMG, I want an old school plastic Chiefs head visor
dan the man knocked them out
Besides The Bills, Would The Chiefs Or Vikings Be Considered The 90's Other Underachievers?
Oilers maybe also.
ahh, when the NFL was fun and everything wasn't a penalty.
You’re a chiefs fan and not having fun with the nfl nowadays?
@@philleotardo8038 not a chiefs fan.
Justin Wise oh you’re just watching the 1990 chiefs team highlights
@@philleotardo8038 yes, I was working on a project for an old video game. I'm making the historic rosters for Madden 2007, so I was trying to identify who all the starters were, in particular the offensive lineman because they don't have stats. I watch alot of of highlights from the 80's and 90's. On that video game they have generic rosters for the historic teams that are editable.
Justin Wise awesome
curtis schwartz danger signal track in that yearbook
How did that defense give up 527 passing yards to the Oilers?
Still hard to believe...
Oilers did that to a lot teams during that time
