    Thank you for this, man. I just bought a t.Flight Hotas 4 a few hours ago. I was having issues with "jumpy" controls. I set my sensitivity & non-linearity settings to the same you did & now I have much more control.

    this was very educational. thanks. I can add something as well.
    The sensitivity of yaw,pitch (especially this one) and roll could be different. Some planes requires less multiplier or sensitivity. A good indication is when try to roll to a 90 deg angle and turn on your left or right using the rudder. Normally you have to get that shaking feeling to a point where it feels your plane will exploded inside out. But if your multipler is too high, you're plane will start to drop on the ground

    I like your style of presentation very much. I like playing the game with joystick much better, even if that is frustrating at times. The joy gained is so much more than turning off my brain by using the mouse/keyboard. The joystick hotas i got is Thrustmaster t16000m+gas throttle and pedals. Got it like 7 years ago and finally decided to overcome myself. There is no going back now : D I used to play Il-2 sturmovik A LOT when a teen. Knowing I had to setup all the controls was the reason I was postponing this. Defyn and EngiNerd's WT guides helped with setting up MEC. Anyhow, I will definitelly keep an eye on your channel.

    I bought the Hotas 4 last night and had terrible bouncing troubles. I liken it to fly by wire overcompensation or overcorrection and it had me so frustrated I had to put away the controller because I wanted to play and could not figure out how to fix it. So this was my first video of the morning, as I frantically searched for a solution, and I was happy to see you covered it here. Thanks

    • @nightlightabcd
      @nightlightabcd 8 лет назад +1

      Are you referring to "bouncing" when landing. When I fly by stick and use the external view and with a reserve plane and land, the plane may bounce up to a hundred feet. It will bounce about three times before sticking to the runway. Since the runway in Test Flight is VERY big and VERY long, that is not a problem but on short runways, this is a crash waiting to happen. I have come to call these reserve planes and bouncing Betty's.
      However, when I'm in cockpit view, the bouncing problem is greatly reduced.

    • @terryteed1903
      @terryteed1903 7 лет назад

      nightlightabcd the reason for bouncing when landing is speed and attitude. too fast and too *hot*. This is the reason for the flare before wheels down. hope this expanse well enough.

    • @nightlightabcd
      @nightlightabcd 7 лет назад

      Terry Teed - I make my approach by cutting off the power a long ways away and glide in as slow as it will go. However, the reserve planes to not have air brakes or even flaps.
      However, as stated before, when viewed from the cockpit, it sticks to the ground substantially better!

    • @terryteed1903
      @terryteed1903 7 лет назад +1

      Take your planes up to around 5000ft. Get the plane to stall out in level flight, get a feel for how she reacts in the stall. Most important, note the stall speed. Use that when you land and be as close to that speed when you touch down. Practice and practice.

    Thank you Naceo,,,,been a flight sim guy for years but each game's control setups are differant. I needed to know if I was going to have to map some buttons with my CH gear because I just started playing War Thunder. But your tutorial saved me the trouble and answered several questions I was having on the view and throttle settings. Always had wep as a single button in IL-2, Aces High etc and knew there had to be a way to stop the full throttle to engage WEP nightmare.
    My next questions are on the grinding process to obtain new aircraft etc , etc. Reminds me of Ground War Tanks . But I see there are a ton of forums for that. I'm not in a squadron at this time and don't really like arcade flying or the type of guys that usually enjoy the point and shoot ,, crash and respawn scenario . I can read maps and have a sports pilot's license.
    I was the C.O. of JG-51. IV Molders in IL-2 for many years. Using CH Fighter stick, Throttle and Pedals,,,Track-IR plus your great view setup.
    Cheers..

    The physics and dymantics for space flight is differrnt than flying in an atmosphere. In real space obe must depend on thrusters in sn atmosphere on depends on the reaction of resistance. Wings, flaps, tails, rudder don't have any use in space. Anything but forward thrusting in an atmosphere, is almost a moot point except on a water craft. Hence, if you want realistic flight in either, one needs to reset their settings.

    Best explanation there is for joystick setup, watched youre vid a year ago lots of info for a new player, watched it again and makes so much sense after playing more with my saitec pro,
    Question though, doesthe Hotas have no point on the throttle where you have "resitance" just before you hit wep, cause thats were i put my 99% throttle by using the multiplyer instead of a key binding for wep.
    Love to see more vids of joystick arcade battle, thats my challenge to go to as wel.

    • @Naceo
      @Naceo  9 лет назад

      There is no resistance point on the HOTAS except for the 50% mark. I can't even set the WEP to engage that low without breaking the throttle control.

    It seems that no mater what one does, when one is flying by stick - in my case a Thrustmaster Hotas X - and in a reserve plane, one is actually just canon fodder, gaiter bait at best. The plane is unstable when firing while your opponents have smooth targeting, with lock targets,and smooth flying and stability when firing and much better control and smoother maneuvering.
    I have been under the impression that if one wants to fly by stick that Arcade is good training for Historical and Realistic, but I'm starting to wonder about that!
    So far I have been in dozens of Arcade battles and have yet to make a single kill while those flying by mouse are all over me. I am adapting the idea that if one is flying by stick and in a reserve plane, one just tries to survive by flying high and completely avoiding the enemy and getting points just by participating till one gets a better plane.
    If you watch the "how to's" and tips by those get get a lot of kills in Arcade, they all are flying by mouse, which is actually flying by wire, for they are not actually flying the plane, as with a stick, but the computer is flying the plane and they are just pointing the pointer where they want the plane to go and the computer flies the plane following the pointer, which is why their plane is so stable when maneuvering and firing and even when damaged. I have dropped the sensitivity to 0 but it is still way too sensitive., being that when I fire, the targets and targeting jumps all over the place, making it impossible to stay on target. It is obvious that the programming was made for mouse and keyboard and , in at least in Arcade, they rule!
    I like flying by stick but one needs to get used to seeing ones self burning and crashing and being bullied and beaten up by everyone else.

      What joystick do you have? I play on PS4 and found out that you can lock on using X and then hold L2 to enter a gunnery mode and also zoom in by hitting the square button. This allows you to switch to an easier gunnery mode that makes the airplanes flight stable and your aim is much much easier due to it putting the plane in somewhat of an autopilot where you can focus just on shooting. You can also control the plane but it steers itself at a slower speed and smoother flying unless you begin to add your own inputs(where it is still easier to aim too).
      There is an equivalent on PC and when you get that going you will see why other pilots are so accurate and more capable. You no longer have the problem of compensating for your plane movement versus your gun movement that creates the herky jerky bounce in your aiming. It gives you a much smoother and controllable gunnery mode and it will make a world of difference. You may also like the changes to the aim and particularly the nonlinearity function shown in this excellent video. Pair those 2 together and you will begin shooting down multiple planes per game almost immediately.

      Torstein Barnard
      - Thanks for responding. I have saved your reply so I can study it and try it myself. I am using a Thrustmaster T. Flight Hotas. I have practiced several different maneuvers and landing and can operate the plane pretty good but when I get into battle, the targeting is everywhere, I think it may be due to the trigger being on the joystick, and the fact that the plane is slow and no flaps and that everyone can see my plane ID, that I am cannon fodder for a easy kill. I can actually out maneuver many of them that come after me but there is no chance of me turning the tables on them. I have also noticed when I watch their videos, they hardly ever check their 6, which I do constantly, now that I have worked out the viewer pretty well, but they hardly ever get attacked from behind, which I do constantly, they get me by diving on me from 6 high, just above my view. or by AA. Anyway, I'll keep working at it and thanks again for replying.

    • @torsteinbarnard2713
      @torsteinbarnard2713 8 лет назад

      You have to set your joystick. This video shows where you change the nonlinearity settings and tune the stick or you will have a bouncy effect and every stick is different. That's the price of the stick; you have to tune it to your needs and the games as well. This stick is made for the game and is the company Gaijin chose to make a stick system for their game. So make sure you watch the guys video and he shows where to tune it and how. That should give you better control but the mouse has any controller beat in some ways which is where simulation causes them fits due to pushing the airframe.
      The gunnery system here in this game allows you to limit the movement in the mode I told you about. Fix your joystick settings and get it set to the right nonlinearity functions and set the aim nonlinearity down too and use the gunnery technique I explained and you will see that the advantage is less of a problem than you thought. My friend and I had the same problems and now we both get a kill a game 4 or 5 days later. It gives you way more control.

    epic video man but you didnot say anything about the sensitivity spring downside the joystick and realistic battles do you use the same conf. for it and why donot you use a cheap steering wheel pedals for rudder i use it instead of the rocker switch it has much more stroke distance and what conf. do you use for bf109 f4

    • @Naceo
      @Naceo  9 лет назад +1

      Sorry man, I am having a hard time understanding your writing but from what I can tell... I don't use pedals for the rudder simply because I don't have em. No idea where I can get em cheap.
      I use the same config for everything. I configure a particularly unstable aircraft under the arcade flight model and everything else works under the "If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" mentality. That is to say if I configure with the hardest aircraft to control in my arsenal under the most twitchy flight model, then everything else should be easier to fly with the same config.

    Does each plane need different .blk file settings, in order to maximize it's capabilities? Or... as long as one is using the same mix of controls on every plane... (i.e. Keyboard only. Keyboard & Mouse, Joystick & Keyboard) etc. etc. etc, can the same basic .blk file settings be used for multiple fighting platforms across Fighters, Bombers, Tanks, et. al.? I understand that as additional gunners, tank loaders, engine controls, etc. are introduced into the game, as I improve and increase my levels of proficiency... that some changes will need to be made in order to have all the controls necessary for new equipment which becomes available with said game progression. I am talking mainly about levels 1 and !! game play and the planes etc. available at those levels.Thank you for your rapid response to my inquiry. ive got the new hotas 4 joystick and throttle for ps4 (war thunder product with free plane and 500 gold eagles) could I incorporate these changes in this vid onto my stick for ps4? At the moment I've reverted back to my PS pad as I'm so terrible with the new hotas! No bids explaining hotas 4 yet but its real hard work with the set up already in the game

    How do you get the hat trigger to go left and right on the view in the cockpit.I just can't get it to work! I can Zoom in and out on the hat trigger but not left and right?

      Warren Blanch Under the "View Controls" tab, the three head movement key bindings at the very bottom control the head's positional shift along the x-, y- and z-axes; as you know, z-axis would be your forward-backward movement.
      However, the key bindings for the head's pitch and yaw motions, in your case the yaw motion, are above the "camera look speed" (or "camera smoothness") slider. View (Y-Axis) and View (X-Axis), respectively.
      As for your aircraft listing to the left in simulation. I am no expert, but it could be due to poor operating conditions at low speed. You might try watching your speed or trimming your aircraft to compensate.
      Hope this helps! :)

    Why would you do arcade even tho I know you like it but control setup is total different in RB and SB Arcade you do complete circles just by using rudder

      Matt Fletcher If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball. Or to put it more in context, if you can control the AB FM you can control the RB/SB FM.

      David McMillan is it a flat spin? If yes, then apply rudder to the opposite direction, and DO NOT touch the ailerons

    • @Jyrgenstrator
      @Jyrgenstrator 7 лет назад

      David McMillan dude its called engine torque. It rolls plane tp left in example German planes.. Some American planes propeller spin to another direction so then plane rolls to right. You just have to fight it with stick :) I guess you use full real controls.

    whenever i use realistic controls. i try a straight loop, and then it sends me into a spiral and i crash.

    • @Naceo
      @Naceo  9 лет назад +3

      This is a form of stall due to excessive angle of attack. In short, pull back too hard at too low a speed and the craft is going to flip on you. In realistic controls you are just going to have to get a feel for the limits of each individual aircraft.
      However, in recent patchs the instructor has gotten good enough on determining the limit of the craft that I can justify using simplified controls and slamming your sensitivities to 100% if you are still having problems.

      With the Thrusatmaster Hotas, the slider on the thrust control is for yaw, as well as twisting the stick. Have the twisting the stick as yaw, then also the slider. It will say that it is already assigned, do you want to add, say yes.

    I have the Thrustmaster hotas x also and when i follow your instructions I still get uncontrollable bounce on my yaw axis even when i turn the sensitivity down to 10%. This is especially true when i zoom in to aim. No matter how gentle i am with the stick I cannot fine tune my aim without bouncing all over the place... I don't understand whats going on, any ideas?

      Good advice. But spitfires have wing mounted weapons. Horizontal firing might allow for more rounds hitting target.

    For some reason, my Head-movement controls do not work. (Up and down, "look back"-button...).
    Do you have any clue? Important note: I disable "Enable View Axis Controls" in the View Controls tab. thx.

    • @Naceo
      @Naceo  9 лет назад

      MRoesterreicher1 Think you answered you own problem here. "Enable View Axis" needs to be set to "Enabled" for the view controls to work. Any reason why you disabled it in the first place?

    • @MRoesterreicher1
      @MRoesterreicher1 9 лет назад

      ***** Nah. Enabling view axes has nothing to do with the Head controls. ;)
      It decides if you can use your hatview, or not (X-Axis and Y-Axis).
      I just worked it out : I had some Freetrack-software from ages ago, and WT still thought I was using it. Removed it,now it kinda works!

    I have the same throttle (Hotas X flight) but when taking off it always yaws to either side (depends on the aircraft) is this supposed to happen or not? and if so what should I do?

    • @Naceo
      @Naceo  8 лет назад +2

      +Edward Brockman This will happen in SB or you have your controls set to full real. It's actually the torque of your propeller pulling your aircraft to one side. Either compensate with yaw and/or use a gradual increase in throttle as you speed up rather than slamming it to 100%.

    • @email356
      @email356 8 лет назад +1

      +Naceo Ah, I normally "compensate" it...

    • @Simbosan
      @Simbosan 8 лет назад

      Not technically the torque, it's the spiral of air caused by the prop blades pushing against one side of the fin. But yeah just use yaw to compensate. Real planes do this

    what is trim ? i am new yes

    • @terryteed1903
      @terryteed1903 7 лет назад +1

      keanu luyckx trim is-on your control surfaces there are little trim flaps which when used take the effort off of having to pull or push the stick or pedals to keep the plane in level, nose down, nose up flight. Use the trim to keep your plane in a specific attitude, you can then deal with other components freeing you to look around or such without having to concentrate on just keeping the plane flying. I would suggest doing a little research in to real flight to gain an understanding of the physics involved.
