A little cheat sheet for your homework: early jet engines have low dynamics: the slower you fly, the worse the engine runs. First accelerate to about 600 km/h at the horizon, and only then translate into altitude gain. The angle should be chosen based on how to maintain speed. The rule of thumb for optimum climb is the same as on propeller planes - the heavier the plane, the more speed you need (for the Yak-23, for example, 500 km/h is enough, for the 262 - closer to 650 km/h). Never commit to head-on - the approach speed of two jets is higher than the speed of sound, you just won't have time to turn away. Sliding attacks at an angle is much more effective (your planes are close to each other, but you're not flying straight at the enemy, but in the straight line next to him, and at a distance of about a km and a half you aim at the enemy with the mouse slightly offset - the plane goes into a "drift" - so much easier to turn away from the enemy after the merge)

I have 3000 hours in War Thunder and it always keep me coming back, with that being said its crazy how slow gayjin is address or fix problems. It truly is a one of a kind game and it sucks seeing it not reach its full potential.

Honestly find a vehicle or loadout that you enjoy using and just ignore efficiency of grinding for a bit. I did that with the bf109G6, and I had jets before I knew it. Really, play whatever you enjoy the most :)
One thing that changes from jets to prop is how energy is managed. Props, as you know, typically store energy in altitude. Early jets cannot climb like super props due to a lackluster acceleration, but have a much higher top-speed. As such, energy is usually stored in pure speed: staying level but fast at lower altitudes. In this state, you are untouchable to props but can be run down by more modern jets. Note that superprops have the ability to essentially prop-hang, so if you decide to take them vertical you must be wary of them seemingly floating at the top of their climb. However, once you reach Korean-War era jets, you gain much more power and the freedom to no longer be restricted to the deck due to your higher thrust and thrust to weight ratio. This is where battle rating compression becomes an issue. Jets are very unbalanced, and become a hellhole once you reach 8.7 to 9.0 due to the A-10 (10.0) and Su-25 (9.7) with modern missiles. Additionally, radar missiles punish jets that go too high as you are an easy lock. So, stay low-to-med alt, and stay fast, and don't take it too seriously. Last point, crew skills in jets are essential. Get that G-tolerance high and spend the silver lions to make your crew experienced (silver star icon). Otherwise you will g-lock and be easy pickings.

I love how easy it is to hear enemies that would otherwise have ambushed me. Listening has saved my ass many times. Even if I can't see them, by listnening and estimating distance, you can figure out when to begin evasive manuevers.
my reaction to unlocking the meteor was a bit dead compared to others, but the realisation kicks in and im very proud of myself accomplishing what i thought was a dream in 2019
Also some prop planes (mostly later ones) can go around 800kph like the spitfire mk24 can go around 800kph in a dive and keep up with many jets at 7.0.
Enjoy early jets! That feeling of excitement youll eventually get when going from early jet to supersonic missile launching jets will only get better! Trust me, my jump from F80 Shooting Star to F104 Starfighter was night and day! Like Breaking the sound barrier while going damn near straight up is something else! You'll get the even better F104G in the me262 line, but that'll be in tier VII iirc

Honestly, I like mid-high tier props (and mid-late jets) way more than early jets. Early jets just have like no acceleration, turn rate or anything really other than top speed. Mid tier jets (like 8.7 ish) are actually really fun. I've played the sabre and ki-200, and they're wayyyyy more fun than early jets. Then there's high/top tier jets. They're really cool, 11.3 is really unbalanced rn but still, fun af. Just earlier today finished researching the F4EJ Kai, can't wait to spade that. Anyways man, keep on the grind. 7.0-7.7 jets are really frustrating but don't quit there. 8.7 is where jets start getting way better. Good luck man!

I recently got the SK60 a few days ago as my first jet and I did find it quite hard to lead my shots. Also its at a higher BR than the other starter jets so I occasionally compete with missiles if in arcade which isn't fun without flares and because they go a lot faster than you.

The biggest difference between props and jets is that you look at a prop 10km away and he's just not a threat. You look at a jet 10km and a couple of seconds later he's shot you down. And that's gun kills before you even factor in missiles. I've got a lot of jet gameplay but I still sometimes make that mistake.
Well I played 65 days to reach jets... mainly in realistic battles (1 or 2 kills are enough to produce more than 5k research points, which is not the case in arcade!) and by limiting to the strict minimum the number of planes developed per Tier. Thanks for the video!
20:23 the P-51H-5 (as you already know) is incredibly strong, so strong, that it matches the Me-262’s straight line speed. I’ve seen videos of a fully red engine’d P-51H still managing 400kph, it’s a busted plane. On a side note, despite the Su-11 never existing, it’s the top dog of its BR and rawdogs all competition. Just like all p2w aircraft

few things for the 262; for the 30mm lead further than you think you should past .4km, also for a faster roll rate use ruder and for jet combat zoom climb with speeds and i usually hit 400 mph and go in a 40 degree angle till about 250mph, another thing is learning the other jets at your br which is a given for all planes at all br ranges. The 262 A1 is one of my favorite jets to fly and 7.0 is a nice place for it just just wait till you get the C variants because the c2b is very strong in the vertical with the c1 with the booster has a slightly better turn rate also the booster only go for 5 min (c2b) and 2.5 min (c1) so use them sparingly
@@freezedvegetal i personally love the 30mm but it takes time to get used to them, id recommend when there is nothing to do in a match to just hit light ground targets from further ranges like .6 or .8 km with one shot bursts and watch the shells hit, that greatly helps me get a feel for each gun

Kinda sad that the game requires you to play so much to only unlock first gen jets tho, and then you gonna go bancrupt because of another jets costing even more. But never the less, well done!

You can grind way faster with premium. I am progressing in the USSR skill tree with the premium p63a-5, and with premium, I have unlocked 4 tier 4 props out of the 6 I need to unlock jets. With a premium account and this plane, I get around 400% total rp rewards, and around 700% silver lions, which allowed me to get like 300k sl in around 15 games (I am terrible at the game)

Can I say that the plane he unlocks was invented around the same time as the mid b-17 and p51’s but it was very powerful it still lost to the p51d and subsequent variants but it was very fast and a formidable fighter

Btw, when you fly bombers and you switch to gunner view, try to keep maneuvering your plane a bit-it makes you harder to hit. In the settings, you can turn off autopilot while in the bomber’s sight.
Early jets are faster in a straight line than late props, but since early jets was a new technology and late props were the best of their technology, they are very good against early jets, they can climb faster, turn faster, and keep up with you in a dive
Happy 100 daynniversary, where you jump into jets for the first time and are rewarded with the realisation that you need to spend another 100 days relearning everything you know about aim, situational awareness and defensive flying. Also where you learn there's nothing you can do against the su11 aside from *grind toward literally anything 8.3 and onward so you never have to face it again, or fly Russia...because once you get to 8.7 you're facing entire teams of Su25s with all-aspect missiles and you don't get flares.* Enjoy.
if you know you know, it took me very long too to get to the jets but after 7 years of WT now i can grind an account to tier 5 in a week lol without premium account or vehicles, just play simulator battles and realistic battles, you can get 10-50k xp per match (1-2 hour match in sim) and a lot of silver lions .

You can grind way faster with premium. I am progressing in the USSR skill tree with the premium p63a-5, and with premium, I have unlocked 4 tier 4 props out of the 6 I need to unlock jets. With a premium account and this plane, I get around 400% total rp rewards, and around 700% silver lions, which allowed me to get like 300k sl in around 15 games (I am terrible at the game)

Can I say that the plane he unlocks was invented around the same time as the mid b-17 and p51’s but it was very powerful it still lost to the p51d and subsequent variants but it was very fast and a formidable fighter

Btw, when you fly bombers and you switch to gunner view, try to keep maneuvering your plane a bit-it makes you harder to hit. In the settings, you can turn off autopilot while in the bomber’s sight.
Early jets are faster in a straight line than late props, but since early jets was a new technology and late props were the best of their technology, they are very good against early jets, they can climb faster, turn faster, and keep up with you in a dive

Also where you learn there's nothing you can do against the su11 aside from *grind toward literally anything 8.3 and onward so you never have to face it again, or fly Russia...because once you get to 8.7 you're facing entire teams of Su25s with all-aspect missiles and you don't get flares.*

The A2D1 and Wyvern s4 are turboprops, basically a jet engine spinning a propeller, sounds amazing
if you know you know, it took me very long too to get to the jets but after 7 years of WT now i can grind an account to tier 5 in a week lol without premium account or vehicles, just play simulator battles and realistic battles, you can get 10-50k xp per match (1-2 hour match in sim) and a lot of silver lions .
The moment I saw the spitfire I immediately knew what he was gonna say lmao
