I mean just look at these bands: deafheaven, An Autumn for Crippled Children, Oathbreaker, Altair of Plagues, Bosse-de-Nage or even AmenRa... Damn
I listen to almost exclusively black & crust. There's no crust in here, it's mainly just dark hardcore and black metal. You're probably confused due to crust having a lot of crossover eg. when combined with black metal (Martyrdöd, Iskra, Young And In The Way, etc) or neocrust when combined with dark/melodic hardcore (Tragedy, Alpinist, Jungbluth, Downfall of Gaia, etc). This has plenty of black metal elements though, the part from 2:25 til 3:00 is a straight up typical black metal guitar riff.
Reported990 well, your description is so chaotic. It's just blackened melodic death metal similar to early Novembre. But lets say they have their personality. No crust or punk or hardcore at all.
Raised in between doll-shaped smoke Insects in every corner of our rotten house I hid in the walls of my room Tasting clean air through a window crack In these childhood dreams where imagination was key I drove the needle through my skin Weaving a delicate net to embrace me And hold me to sleep where no one could see Where no one could hear me breathe Your empty house won't comfort me Don't make me pity you in the end I won't forget the years when disappointment was key Blood runs thick in the veins of guilt Drowning your promises made never embrace me And hold me to sleep where no one could see Where no one could hear me breathe Your shallow heart doesn't soothe me Your false love won't break me Don't make me pity you in the end This drunken body I've left behind And the problems that are no longer mine I resided under your broken feathers For too long scraps of pictures in a box Is what remains of those childhood dreams You'll never know, The person I've become
This is the kind of black metal I like to hear. Shit that is not afraid to break the mold and still be heavy as fuck. I'm honestly not sure that any other extreme metal genre is as willing to experiment and branch out as black metal. I can't wait to hear the full album, this shit is amazing and incredibly beautiful!
Well everyone has their own definitions of genres but its definitely black metal to me. Im not a fan of hardcore and don't hear any elements of it really. Maybe a bit here and there, and theres definitely some progy sounding bits, but there is definitely a strong black metal element to their music and thats what stands out the most to me.
It would be most accurate to say its a fushion of hardcore and black metal. Personally I've only really listened to the singles for the new album so far, which largely ditch the hardcore aspects for a stronger black metal sound with some postmetal in there too.
Generally anything with black metal style vocals (which she kind of has here, though its closer to plain screaming), tremolo picking, and a generally dark sound. But its not just me, their wiki page specifically mentions them as fusing hardcore with black metal.
I only found out about this band a couple of weeks ago whilst I was searching the net for some new black metal to listen too, wow what a gem of a band. As some people have mentioned the ending is spine chilling, what an amazing experience, a delicate 1st song, emotional, raw, and then goes into the brutal 2nd song, so glad I discovered this band.
FUCK! This song made me look at the bands whole discography in a completely new way! I already enjoyed their previous albums, but now all the songs have changed for me. Hard to describe it but it's like this thing..when you know how great something ends up becoming, the foreplay becomes so much more exciting. If that makes sense to anyone?
Eros|Anteros is a fantastic album. I can't imagine digging this song and not that album. However this song is really fucking good, and I think this album will top their previous two.
srsly. This Song is in my opinion one of the most underrated Songs in this Genre. Its heavy is impactfull its unbelievale stunning and eerie. Its just perfect. Specially the end part. Goosbumps

WAAAAIT back it up... little more.... little more room there... and stop. THIS is not horrible music. I am a fuckin junkie for horrible music. This stuff right here is so damn good it's actually fucking up horrible music that I thought I really really liked and you know what. I kinda would like to listen to blink182 and ICP every now and then. So, if anything. Shit'z too good.
Just saw them live tonight up London. Absolutely on-point; flawless. Never used to listen to them but I wanted to check em out - now it's time to devour their three albums :)
Seeing this live is one of the most amazing experiences of my life, hadn't even heard of them until I saw them live today and I'm definitely a fan even though I usually don't listen to black metal
This song just keeps on sending chills down my spine time after time. Amazing. Followed by an immense sadness that i'll probably never see them live again.

There is little music that carries me away emotionally like this - and I'm actually not that close to black metal as a whole. The pure, unfiltered power of the desperate screams at the end, which have shed any moment of artificiality, are so frighteningly immediate. I only manage to listen to this song every half a year, but I still keep coming back to it - even though I reliably know that after listening to it, my day is done.
just saw them live in Phoenix and they sound even better live. never heard them before and after they played bough their albums and a t shirt. they are on tour in the US check them out
I'm sure the guitarist with the camo long sleeve was, up until now, the band's bassist. but he was playing guitar in this video. I have a feeling the bassist in the last part of the video is just a stand in. maybe they're having a reshuffle of members.
Hits every single time I listen to this. And I love that she holds nothing back with her screams. These are by far the best extreme vocals delivered by a female artist.
I'm late to the party and I'm obsessed with this album and already ordered the vinyl. This is also the second band I found this week that isn't active. :( But still an amazing find. Love the shoegaze guitars with black metal. And those vocals are so powerful. They really capture a feeling here.
She has the most blood curdling screams and the softest cleans I've ever heard in metal. Uniquely astounding
Xela D it gets so much worse but she’s definitely great

It’s sooo goooood!
When she detonates that final scream. It makes me shred tears to no end. It’s heavy impactful music.
Honestly some of the scariest screams I've ever heard in metal. The level of pain at the end is almost unbearable.
Her vocal remembers Jacob Bannon (Converge)
WH7 8RCN would kill for a Bannon/Tanghe track.
Apparently you don't listen to a lot of metal.
brings me to cathartic tears
its not THAT heavy
thats probably one of the most devastating endings i've ever heard to a song
Jane Doe level of epicness in the end
honestly I was crying and shaking at the same time, this is unbelievable
@@kolicsmate7506 yup, literally first song ever to make me cry
Almost like female DSBM. Silencer style.
Pure catharsis
I’ve never felt so much connection to a song, to those lyrics, to her voice. I’ve never related so hard. Truly incredible
Is this the first band you hear after crawling from the jungle?
@@prueba67651Why you gotta be a c*nt, man?
This entire album has been one of the most important albums in my life the last 5ish years... strangely depressive yet relieving
*LYRICS*
10:56
The time you plunged
Into the gray cobblestones
Of a back alley to our house
You forgot to use your hands
To break the sudden fall
The sun rose when I saw
Steam ascending from
Your wet clothes and soiled body
That is where
You became meaningless
Your skull merged
With the surface
I mended your broken nose
*Second Son of R.*
Raised in between doll-shaped smoke
Insects in every corner of our rotten house
I hid in the walls of my room
Tasting clean air through a window crack
In these childhood dreams where imagination was key
I drove the needle through my skin
Weaving a delicate net to embrace me
And hold me to sleep where no one could see
Where no one could hear me breathe
Your empty house won't comfort me
Don't make me pity you in the end
I won't forget the years when disappointment was key
Blood runs thick in the veins of guilt
Drowning your promises made never embrace me
And hold me to sleep where no one could see
Where no one could hear me breathe
Your shallow heart doesn't soothe me
Your false love won't break me
Don't make me pity you in the end
This drunken body I've left behind
And the problems that are no longer mine
I resided under your broken feathers
For too long scraps of pictures in a box
Is what remains of those childhood dreams
You'll never know, The person I've become
thanks for posting the lyrics
Thank you
Love the vulnerability in her voice. Emotional, cathartic and hauntingly beautiful music.
It's like Björk in a black metal band. Incredible juxtaposition.
it's fucking incredible really.
Björk ist Krieg
The first time I heard this I thought the exact same thing.
Yeah, her vocals struck me as a cross of Bjork and Kim Deal. Well the clean ones.
Thought the same
Lyrics for anyone who's interested :)
10:56 -
THE TIME YOU PLUNGED
INTO THE GRAY COBBLESTONES
OF A BACK ALLEY TO OUR HOUSE
YOU FORGOT TO USE YOUR HANDS
TO BREAK THE SUDDEN FALL
THE SUN ROSE WHEN I SAW
STEAM ASCENDING FROM
YOUR WET CLOTHES AND SOILED BODY
THAT IS WHERE
YOU BECAME MEANINGLESS
YOUR SKULL MERGED
WITH THE SURFACE
I MENDED YOUR BROKEN NOSE
SECOND SON OR R. -
RAISED IN BETWEEN DOLL - SHAPED SMOKE
INSECTS IN EVERY CORNER OF OUR ROTTEN HOUSE
I HID IN THE WALLS OF MY ROOM
TASTING CLEAN AIR THROUGH A WINDOW CRACK
IN THESE CHILDHOOD DREAMS WHERE IMAGINATION WAS KEY
I DROVE THE NEEDLE THROUGH MY SKIN
WEAVING A DELICATE NET TO EMBRACE ME
AND HOLD ME TO SLEEP WHERE NO ONE COULD SEE
WHERE NO ONE COULD HEAR ME BREATHE
YOUR EMPTY HOUSE WON'T COMFORT ME
DON'T MAKE ME PITY YOU IN THE END
I WON'T FORGET THE YEARS WHEN DISAPPOINTMENT WAS KEY
BLOOD RUNS THICK IN THE VEINS OF GUILT
DROWNING YOUR PROMISES MADE ME NEVER EMBRACE ME
AND HOLD ME TO SLEEP WHERE NO ONE COULD SEE
WHERE NO ONE COULD HEAR ME BREATHE
YOUR SHALLOW HEART DOESN'T SOOTHE ME
YOUR FALSE LOVE WON'T BREAK ME
DON'T MAKE ME PITY YOU IN THE END
THIS DRUNKEN BODY I’VE LEFT BEHIND
AND THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE NO LONGER MINE
I RESIDED UNDER YOUR BROKEN FEATHERS
FOR TOO LONG SCRAPS OF PICTURES IN A BOX
IS WHAT REMAINS OF THOSE CHILDHOOD DREAMS
YOU’LL NEVER KNOW, THE PERSON I’VE BECOME.
Daniel Owen thanks. I bought a shirt at their show that has the first section on the back of it.
