GENGHIS TRON make their return with their highly anticipated new album, Dream Weapon! The band’s first new studio outing in over a decade, GENGHIS TRON’s Hamilton Jordan and Michael Sochynsky are now joined by two new collaborators: vocalist Tony Wolski and Sumac/Baptists drummer Nick Yacyshyn. Together, the lineup perfects the unique mix of extreme rock and electronic music GENGHIS TRON has pioneered over their storied career. A melding of hypnotic rhythms and densely layered synth soundscapes, Dream Weapon was recorded and produced alongside long-time collaborator Kurt Ballou at God City Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, with additional production and engineering by Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe) and JJ Heath (Rain City Recorders).
Lyrically and conceptually, Dream Weapon picks up where Board Up The House left off.
“That album’s closing track, ‘Relief,’ was about how humans have become a burden to the planet, and how Earth will endure long after we’re gone,” Jordan explains. “There is sadness at the end, but some relief-and beauty-too. Dream Weapon is, loosely, an album-length meditation on that theme.
From the ethereal, almost robotic vocal phrasings accompanying the industrial attack of “Pyrocene,” to the chaotic, pulse-pounding drumming acrobatics and cyclical guitar patterns in the album’s triumphant title track, Dream Weapon is not just a nod to GENGHIS TRON’s celebrated past as a metal/progressive/experimental outfit. The new album redefines what these genres, sounds, and musical elements can achieve. Dream Weapon is a record that captures GENGHIS TRON at a matured, focused state; the ebbs and flows of the album are just as hard-hitting as they are dreamy, soaring, and meditative.
Seasoned GENGHIS TRON listeners will find Dream Weapon to be both excitingly fresh and reassuringly familiar. “Though it sounds a bit different than our previous albums, I don't think we approached Dream Weapon any differently than the others,” Jordan explains. “Michael and I take years to write and trade demos, with about 80% of our ideas landing on the cutting-room floor. Once we have a rough song idea we both like, we write dozens of drafts of a song over months before we end up with a final demo.”
“I think one difference in our approach for this album was that we had a strong sense from the outset of what kind of vibe we wanted to create,” Sochynsky adds. “Something more cohesive, meditative and hypnotic."

@@nomansvalley there was a seperated eu-shop from relapse, but it isn't any longer seperated from the us-shop with a different website-adress. they ship from the netherlands or the uk (don't know exactly) if you order from europe. you'll see the shipping cost when you go through the payment process and enter your adress - i always pay about 10€ for an order from germany (would pay about 20€ if the shipping is from the us). don't know why such a huge label can't ship from germany...it's always a bummer to add half of the price of an album just for the shipping.

As somebody who has been listening to Board Up The House and Dead Mountain Mouth for the past ten years, at first I was sad about the lack of screams but I have been playing this album on the daily rotation and it keeps sounding better and better each time to the point where I am obsessed with it. Please go on tour!!!!!

I was playing Fortnite while babysitting my aunt's kid and this song popped on the radio. I was immediately drawn in by it so I had to look it up and it was a new song from Genghis Tron! Completely blown away. I had not heard from the band since 2009, so this took me by complete surprise. Board up the house is a classic to me. This new sounds kills. So stoked to found out about it in the most unlikely of places.

I like how I was able to perfectly predict how I would react to this. I was like "I bet Ill love it right away" and then I was like "You know, probably more like the first time I hear it I'll be really confused, then I wont be able to get it out of my head the rest of the day." and thats almost exactly how it went down. Any band that comes back after such a long hiatus is going to sound different, especially with a lineup change, but these guys have always done "different" very well. You can feel the classic GT influence, as well as the evolution. The drum work, especially in those tom roll parts, it's absolutely phenomenal. It's honestly everything I could have ever hoped it would be after waiting so long, and Im not completely convinced the world didn't end years ago and thats why we've had so many surprise albums and music last year and this.

I remember when I got "Board Up the House" all those years ago while driving through Chicago, you could feel that the band had the potential to continue to grow into something amazing. It only took a 13 year gap, but holy shit it was worth the wait.
