Evidence shows that patients who participate in clinical trials have better outcomes and improved quality of life, however, the access a patient has to information regarding clinical trials is variable between physicians. Most clinical trials for pancreatic cancer have exclusion criteria specifying the patient must not have received prior treatment, so it is critical for a patient’s eligibility that clinical trials be discussed as soon as possible following diagnosis, and guidance on how to access information on clinical trials be provided to the patient. This session will educate participants on the positive outlook provided to many patients by participating in a clinical trial, and highlight ongoing clinical trials that have the potential to change the statistics associated with pancreatic cancer.
