    ID.7 has surprisingly good range. It’s significantly higher weight and a larger car. Also, I thought its 6.5 sec to 100km/h would be slow for me, but now I’m always driving in Chill mode in my Model 3 LR to keep family happy and that’s 7.5 sec 🤦🏻‍♂️

      lol, my family always wants me to drive in “chill” mode too. They all get car sick on corners at average speed for me. My car takes around 11 sec to 100km/h. Would love a higher performance car but don’t think the family would survive.

    This is a great test. Measuring the kWh needed to recharge includes heat losses when charging, so you can compare actual cost of road trips.

    I test drove a model y and id.7 last week, ordered the id.7 86kwh. I think the id.7 is better value than the model 3. The base model is only a few grand more expensive but you get more range, more space, more comfort. If all you need is more sporty then model 3 is better

    8:28 The advantage of this issue is that you pay the same for 52.0 kWh or for 52.99kWh and you can see the amount after coma before stopping the charge

    There is big different in consumption between 18 " and 19 " wheels on TM3, around 10% at least...

      They still are,Tesla has twice the power my friend.Are we really comparing 450hp+ with 280hp? I own a VW EV and it is honestly ancient compared to my Model Y .Did i mention a ID7 costs 50% more? i must've forgot.

      @@sorinelpustiu5674 You're getting very emotional, so I don't know if you're even open for discussion. Unfortunately it's typical. Anyway - My EV has 200 hp and in 99% cases I'm still completely fine with Eco mode. It's still a LOT.
      What I was referring to was that 2 years ago I heard tons of times from Musk fanatics that VW will never be able to reach Tesla level and here we see it's not true. Of course, Tesla is more powerful, but ID7 is FAR more luxurious car than TM3 - the sound isolation, the seats, the suspension, etc. Even if comparing to Highland, which still is noisy in the cabin for today's standards.

      I owned 22 different car makes, I'm not a Tesla fan or a VW fan.I'm a car fan.
      Btw,Tesla Model Y was the most sold CAR in the world in 2023,to say Tesla is not dominating shows ignorance to a high degree.

      I can understand where the frustration comes from but calling others fanatics and bring luxury to efficiency comparison is quite the emotional value added.
      But overall they were wrong. It was not 10 year difference. VW catch up a lot in 2 years. Now few more years to match in AWD to AWD or RWD to RWD efficiency.

    In the Netherlands, the ID.7 Pro Business with heatpomp costs €61,770 and the Tesla in this color and rims costs €52,990. This is probably the biggest difference between these cars 😜. And the GTX Business €71.580,- 😭

      ID7 is built better, has a more comfort in the suspension, software is worse I give you that, but still to me a better car for many reasons, not to mention the terrible Tesla service and warranty, and don't bring the supercharger in this discussion, they're now available for almost everyone.

    For autopilot you don't have to squeeze the steering wheel, just apply a light steering torque. I find in my Tesla if I am looking ahead and not at the screen constantly like you are the internal camera sees you are driving correctly and almost never askes me to confirm a steering torque test.

    A buddy in the UK is the general manager for the biggest VW dealership and they have not sold a single Id7 since it came out .
    The salespeople all have bets on who will finally sell one.
    Id7 is a flop unfortunately,WAY too expensive

      Indeed, the price is too high, but still they wont discount it and prefer to let all the stock rot in-place, and these cars are not petrol cars, the more they keep them the less they're worth.

      You see the M3H everywhere on the road i haven’t seen the ID7 yet. Have to say that the ID reputation is very very bad due to all the software FAILS last years

      They arent sold through the dealerships though, they are sold through the fleet network in the main, and i know quite a few people that have ordered one as company cars, VW are doing pretty good deals on them.

    Keep in mind in Germany online you can get good discounts on the ID models if you don’t mind having no dealer as contact person, about 25% of the list price at least!

      @@jirispinar6220 Due to the "Agenturmodell" of sales there are basically no dealer given discounts (maybe up to 1000 EUR), it all depends on VW's own promitional activities like "VW Umweltprämie" or such.
      Maybe an artificial 2nd hand market does not have these limits, so the car could be registered first and then passed on to the customer with discounts.

    So, the first time, you preheated by navigating to the SuC, but don't know, how much it charged (pre-heating loss during drive => higher consumption). The second time, you do know, how much, but did you also preheated enough or did the car preheated during charging? Thats a big difference. So, for me, there is an excuse again.
    By the way, the car also shows, how many kWh you charged.

      central screen is showing the optimal (2.9 Bar) as well as measured pressure for each wheel (it has active measuring, unlike ID.7 ABS based relative one). I’m using 3.1 bar for better range, but less comfort

      He compared AWD Tesla vs. RWD ID.7 with half the horsepower. The AWD ID.7 is much less efficient of course.

      @@abraxastulammo9940 Weight is only a disadvantage when accelerating. If it has regen a higher weight is better. At constant speed weight is really no issue. Cd/Cw (wind efficiency is the deal)
      But AWD vs RWD is not a fair comparision.

    Mdel 3 is just too small for me. I can’t sit in the back seat, I feel like I’m sitting very low on the ground overall, and the hatchback on the iD.7 is superior. Frunk on M3 is cool though.
    Oh, and I hate the lack of indicator stalks on M3. I hate, hate, hate it. Designed by someone who never drives in a roundabout. Also semi-functional automatic wipers, no ultrasound sensors, all for penny-pinching.
    Not to mention the fact that CEO and majority owner of Tesla is a crazy person bent on ruining the world.

      @@UhOhUmm because Tesla is offering for around 15K less a comfortable/family car that goes a bit further with good software, but bad build quality. As much as I'd like an ID7, the 62K bare minimum for it is too much, I'd go for it for 10-8K less.

    Yes yes this test looks nice and all, but the ID7 doesn't have a heat pump. Tesla 3 is still king, as it will perform more evenly across the seasons due to the Heatpump.

    We test drove the ID4. It is felt old even compared to the Ford MachE. The Hyundai twins are way better executed than the ID4 as well. It feels VW simply slapped an EV powertrain on one of it's ICE platform. Sales persons seemed clueless about this product. An ex-colleague had an ID4. But sold it within 2 years replaced by a Model Y. Now that VW has given up on its EV innovation and partnering with Rivian, we might see some innovative products in the coming year.

      (Edit: Maybe you didn’t like the ID4, and that’s fair, but) The ID4 is an built on an entirely new EV platform called MEB. The E-Golf that is also a very nice EV was built on the old ICE platform. (Btw, I actually like some of the interface «real buttons» in the Golf better than the ID4.) The new ID4 2024 has improved in many areas though.

    Model 3 highland is a winner! Dual motor allot more performance and actually the same consumption. ID7 GTX is way to expensive.

      ID7 with RWD motor has more torque than a Tesla 3 LR with dual motors. About consumption, the ID7 does great considering it is a size class larger than Tesla 3.

    I find your efficiency figures difficult to understand. The ID-7 is a larger and heavier vehicle the coefficient of drag is poorer compared to Model 3 and your figures indicate the efficiency is slightly better compared to Model 3. I think you need another approach.

      In my country there is no difference after regular discount Skoda Enyaq vs Tesla Model Y. The engine is same 210kW and I can confirm superb efficiency on 19" wheel.

    Who calculates the avg consumption / km with charging loss? 😂 These calculation are pointless and very inaccurate. Both cars have the same consumption reported from the trip meter and for the id7 thats amazing! Claiming better consumption for the id7 is wrong and you know it...

      The consumption with charging loss shows how much you pay/km, so it's not pointless at all.
      Without charging loss (e.g. from the trip meter) it shows you how much range you could get.
