    I wounder how Ripa and Decimus would have gotten along, Decimus hated Elites but Ripa is very strong and hates Brutes and there personalities would of clashed lol

    • @jamesondoane32

      Ripa was also massive, even by elite standards. He could easily take on a full-size brute, no problem.

      Jameson Doane i honestly think Decimus and Ripa would both be Atriox Right Hand Men, but they would both be leading different groups probably staying away from eachother

    • @manrightchea
      @manrightchea 7 лет назад +23

      Ripa was a tank, that's one Sanghelli that Decimus would have his hands full with. I would see it playing out as a struggle for power, with both potentially silently planning on removing the other permanently if you know what I mean. I would then see Ripa planning to overthrow Atriox as well.

    • @jamesondoane32

      Oliver Mendonca I don't know, he wasn't someone to submit to the authority of others, except when there was no other option (when not submitting would mean certain death for him). I don't think he'd want to play second fiddle to Atriox, especially when he was only following the orders of the prophets because he would have had the full might of the covenant empire bearing down on him had he not (he wasn't particularly religious). I see him as likely challenging Atriox, or escaping and going into hiding.

    I wonder how differently Halo Wars 2 would've gone had Ripa survived the events of Halo Wars. It's made clear that he would likely join Atriox and have a leading role within the Banished. But beyond that, how would things play out?
    Wonderful video as always, Toa!

    • @HaloCanon
      @HaloCanon  7 лет назад +33

      Hard to say. I think it would have been interesting to see him react to the reappearance of the Spirit, and he's likely be more ferocious about taking out the ship.

    • @FlaminTubbyToast
      @FlaminTubbyToast 7 лет назад +5

      Halo Canon yes but at the same time his lust for power. He would give the elites reason to fight the brutes.

    • @rhenvao2844
      @rhenvao2844 7 лет назад +16

      I'm surprised Ripa would even join Atriox to begin with. Since he was the appointed Arbiter at the time, he followed Regret's orders without much fuss and was loyal. It would have to take a lot to shatter his loyalties to the Prophets and join Atriox. Heck, I'm not even sure Ripa follows the Prophets out of faith itself, moreso being Arbiter gives him the chance to kill more enemies and relish in their bloodshed. Still, I would have loved to have seen Ripa join the Banished as one of Atriox's chief lieutenants. He likely wouldn't have been the most easy to get along with, but he would certainly have been valuable.

    • @NCRVeteranRanger
      @NCRVeteranRanger 3 года назад +3

      If Ripa survived, he would know very well that his failure to stop the Spirit of Fire from foiling the Covenant’s plans would likely lead to Ripa’s execution, Arbiter or not.
      Seeing as he doesn’t follow Sangheili values or ideals, he would definitely hide from the Covenant rather than face his execution with dignity. Therefore, the Covenant would not find him & would believe him to be dead, meaning Thel Vadam would still become the next Arbiter.

  • @xDinomanx
    @xDinomanx 7 лет назад +8

    I like that Ripa'Moramee has been brought back in a non-canon sense like we've seen with a majority of DLC leaders. He was my favourite leader from the first game to play as and to see him return but updated to reflect the Banished is really cool. I like how his troops are more focused around Sangheili too (Grunt squads are now replaced with Elites instead of Brutes and are faster as well). His Rage ability was definately toned down from the first game for obvious reasons especially considering you could control it too in the first game. Even so he is still able to cause massive amounts of havoc and also buff his units at the same time. The Elite Enforcers he brings are a welcome addition as are the Phantoms too. Ripa in terms of his character was such a terrifying Sangheili to anyone who dared stepped over the line or was an enemy. I too am curious how the story of HW2 would've gone had Ripa survived. No doubt though he would've been a real menace to the Spirit of Fire considering he knew that ship. Glad to have the Arbiter back nonetheless.

    • @notalive5479
      @notalive5479 7 лет назад +4

      Yeah, having him back is great! My problem with him though, is that his units don't seem... vicious enough. Having suicide grunts as units makes sense and fits with the Arbiter's personality: Destroy the enemy, who cares about the grunts, and really, I'm not seeing that with halo wars 2. Dominating through power, ferocity, and aggressiveness is who he is; destroying enemies outright, not locking them in stasis. Fighting head-on through sheer might alone, not surprise attacks with specialized squads, and we see that in HW 1. Less so in 2.

    • @xDinomanx
      @xDinomanx 7 лет назад

      I think part of the problem is that what you describe is done by Decimus whose play style is to overwhelm his enemies regardless of casualties (like Ripa, use fear as a motivator for the Grunts too). To do that again for Ripa would've been rehashing the same content and make Decimus a bit obsolete. Glad they didn't go that route.
      I think the reason why Stasis is a big part of Ripa's abilities is because that is exactly what he did to Anders in the first game, imprisoning her in that stasis sphere.
      In saying that I like his new abilities and being able to garrison troops into Phantoms is a very welcome addition to Halo Wars 2. I suppose Elite Enforcers are as close to "ferocity" as you get considering they are a squad designed for hit and run, overwhelming lots of units very quickly. They kind of remind me of Special Ops Elite Squads or even Ultras like in Halo Reach to some degree.

    He would probably try to overthrow atriox.
    Like the fal arbiter said: the covenant made the sangheli weak and thirsty for no honor but power.
    And ripa was the exact example of that.

    I've noticed alot of people talking about a Kig Yar pirate being a leader in the Banished. Though I have a more interesting idea for a Kig Yar leader in the form of Sig Raan. For those who don't know her, shes a Covenant scientist who fought alongside Decimus who tried to persuade her to join the banished, but she refused and died for it. Though what if she did accept? Like the Arbiter this would be a great what-if scenario. Being a scientist it's obvious that Sig wouldn't be fighting on the frontlines. I imagine she would have alot on Yanme'e related units, maybe the Yanme'e snipers, which were cut from Halo 4, would be a replacement for the Rangers. What do you guys think of this idea?

    please hear me out! the flood is already in the domain and is in control of cortana/ about to be. the flood has already extracted the location of maiythrilian from the forunner ai (who's name I already forgot). I strongly think there will be a split in focus between going back to reach and the lesser ark. I think somehow the location of the ai will be revealed on the ark and humanity will go in search there while Cortana tries to reclaim info on reach that she was made aware of during her time with hualsy there. it's be a good way to split Osiris and blue team up without forgetting Osiris completely. plenty of reasons for Osiris to be there especially if Cortana got ahold of that forunner dohickey mc find stuff that someone said the swords of sanghelios had last. and with blue team on the ark the rally up with the spirit of fire possibly to find out from the ai that the latest ring was sent to maiythrilian to contain a local outbreak in the area *BOOM*
    ps. the flood might not be there yet but could be aware that the last ring was sent there idk still a theory

    • @MCSPARTAN501
      @MCSPARTAN501 2 года назад

      A billionaire who wants to wear Mjolnir armor would have to either modify it to a point where it doesn't provide much enhanced strength and speed (i.e. only protection), or go through the augmentation process themselves. No known billionaire has done either of these things as of yet.

    • @HaloCanon

      When you have Conduit of Rage, you can stasis your own units, which activates Conduit and heals them while preventing damage. Very useful

    • @TenthSgtSnipes
      @TenthSgtSnipes 7 лет назад

      Halo Canon I can see the benefit of using it on your own units definitely, by why enemies?

    • @notalive5479
      @notalive5479 7 лет назад

      What if an enemy has a powerful unit that you can't deal with? Lets say, vulture(s) with units that counter the vultures counters, while the vulture(s) destroy everything else? You can use the stasis to lock one of them, and then wipe out the one half of the force, leaving the other half vulerable. What if an enemy has a huge force that your units can't deal with? You can use stasis to help retreat, or use it freeze some of them, wipe out the rest, and finish off the remains when they get out of stasis. What if you've almost wiped out a base, but there are some incoming enemies to stop you? Freeze the enemies, finish off the base, and get out. If you're units are outnumbered and damaged, you can stasis you're units until help gets there, and preserve your units. It has some tactical value if the difficulty is high. My problem with it though, is that I don't think it fits Ripa. I imagine Ripa using something that destroys things outright, leaving no survivors, not putting them in the freezer so he can eat them later.

    • @TenthSgtSnipes
      @TenthSgtSnipes 7 лет назад

      31Tancos Tracey Yeh I see your point. And you're right, Ripa needed a lot more focus on his rage rather than a stasis ability that doesn't really fit his character. They should've made another banished leader with the stasis focus, plus then we'd have a better balance of UNSC/Banished leaders.
