Explanation on the grizzly. The grizzly and scorpion in code are COMPLETLY different things. Yes their code is similar because it was obviously copy and pasted but they do not effect eachother or reference eachother at all. All unit upgrades besides super units use type="Data" amount="1.25" subtype="Hitpoints" relativity="Percent"> unsc_veh_scorpion_01 This means that upgrades multiply based on the previous units stats. The scorpion is upgraded this way twice. The grizzly does not. It would be smart to have the grizzly use this code for its upgrade but instead it uses its own set of code for its stats. The difference between the two vehicles is the weapons they use as well as the math behind them. They use completely different types of math and as such end up coming very close in the same way that 5X6=30 (grizzly) and 4X4X2=32 (scorpion) are very close. A few extra details. Canister shell code is missing 0 the 0 should be a 0.25 like the scorpion has. Range code 60 the scorpion has 65 range I'm sure there is much more but its not worth looking into because I can just change the grizzly's base stats and everything works like intended. So the main reason is bad math and typos. I mod the game heavily and am going to soon release a full game balance overhaul mod that makes the game super fun to play even in 2022 making each unit and hero viable and unique. MUCH better than the other mods on the mod www.moddb.com do in my opinion as they are are balance and buggy nightmares. The mod is based on PVE only because its not like PVP exists anymore anyway and the AI difficulty is much harder than vanilla with normal being around original legendary heroic auto 130 and legendary auto 150. Every unit and leader ability/spirit of fire/ well everything has been changed. Yet it very much feels like the original halo wars and does not feel modded at all. It actually feels like what the game should have always felt like. The mod also has a consistency unlike the original game where its less of a cainflip as super early (0-3 minute) rushes have been nerfed enough to not be so overbearing as all ai build at least 1 turret at the start of every game. Combat has been considerably slowed down to make fights last longer and battle more epic and microable. I did not watch this video before making my mod but it turns out that we agree on basically all of the balance which is great. plesae leave a like or comment if you think you would be interested. 21:48 Yeah, yeah, however many years late, but I’ve definitely seen Cobras with Spartans in kill 3 wraiths in 1 shot, the piercing effect is most definitely real. I tend to find it only happens when the shell would actually hit the target behind, though, and when it wouldn’t it doesn’t visually penetrate.

Man I had no idea about the grizzly thing, I guess Ander’s is the way forward, although in the same sense forge could be decent for hornet rush I suppose
Great video bro, you did forget a few things though, such as The turrets, The invincible offensive protector glitch where you can march it out to sit in front of someone's base and they cant do jack shit about it, The chieftains vortex floating glitch, similar to the chicken walk but you can get the chief to pass over unpassable terrain with it
One of my favorite meme strats was 3v3 ft Deen cyclops surprise attack via pelican. I'd build up enough to reliably kill at least 2 double reactors before they could be killed. Not the best trade of course, but you come out in the positive still. After that ofc I'd switch to something real. Vulture Y ability I'm pretty sure is also glitched. If the unit dies as the missiles are being shot they'll fly off harmlessly into the air
Prophet is a one man army, not as strong early like the arbiter or chieftain but surpasses them late game especially against UNSC. Can push through stalemates thanks to his mobility and can only be killed by a vampire distribution bomb combo. Cleansing beam shreds reactors and every unit in the roster.
There’s a thing I like to do called vulture rush. Basically you get 2 upgraded reactors and the air building as fast as possible so that you can get vultures and attack the enemy team as early as possible.
@livewiregaming6941 they're definitely overpowered riiiiight? Wrong. Dudes strategy takes 9 minutes to get his 5 vulture army out, inwhich time 2 wolverines per vulture destroys the vultures, let alone the fact you have no units before 4 tech, meanwhile the other player can have tanks, hawks, etc all out. Vultures suck
@@livewiregaming6941 The issue is that 900 resources of anything else is probably better. Elephants in AOE2 had similar issues but there they at least had the advantage of being population efficient, the vulture doesn't even have that.
I usually make only 2 vultures to support my ground forces. Use their Y ability and then send them to destroy enemy buildings to add pressure. 2 vultures can destroy 4 buildings in 12 seconds from what I’ve seen.
I never played Halo Wars online, I only replay the campaign like once a year because it brings back memories and good nostalgia so I still watched the full vid
Watched/listened to the full video, even right up until the post credits - and I don't even play Halo Wars. Never even owned a console. It was still interesting to me because I also enjoy an RTS game that is less popular and run a community for it, and was trying to figure out the best way of conveying an understanding of an RTS game to people that have never played it, or are a bit apprehensive about playing it. I can safely say that I think I'd enjoy playing Halo Wars, especially after getting the overview from you and you did a great job sharing your game sense and knowledge with people. Very nice video, thank you for making it.
I believe the pierce shot of the Cobra can go through shields. Shields are compromised of microscopic lasers. Basically it's so many lines moving together that it looks solid. A rail gun projectile is moving fast enough to pass through the little lines inside the shield. A piercing shot :) Also, kudos to you this video is like a 2 hour spirit of the law video for halo wars, it's so chill.
@@dramamine755 I'm not asking about the railgun, I'm asking about the shields. Halo shields are a barrier of plasma held by an electromagnetic field, they aren't made up of lasers.
Like and subbed as someone who plays both Starcraft and Halo wars 1/2. Love from South Korea!! Your vid is full of essential knowledge, strats, 2 hours full of gold and effort.
I wish some of the campaign exclusive units made it into the skirmish modes; like the Rhino tank, rocket Spartans, and the Sergeant Forge hero unit. Imagine if you picked Forge, instead of the normal unarmed Warthog you usually get at the beginning, you instead got Forge's fully upgraded Gaushog that you use in the campaign. Even one Gaushog, especially one that has a heath buff because it's a hero unit, can make itself quite known in the early game. And if or when that Warthog is destroyed, you could just go back to your base and train Forge himself on foot. Even without his Hog, his shotgun barrage ability absolutely melts swarms of infantry, making him an ideal anti-spam hero.
I think the cyclops and vulture were pretty low for the 2v2 and 3v3 ratings. In solo play, they're pointless, but if you coordinate with your team and build a base popping army and focus down bases rather than enemy units while your teammates fight with you it is a very powerful and frightening strategy.
Great vid! It helped me out a ton since I recently got back in to Halo wars. On the cobra, I think the piercing shot ability allows it to damage a unit's HP even if they have a shield up. I haven't tested it out do I'm not %100 sure, but I have seen occasions where a cobra shreds do a wraith's HP despite its sheild still being up.
Cyclops’s are amazing against scarabs. Not only do they chew through The scarabs health, but as they damage it, they rip off pieces and can use those pieces as a ranged attack against the scarab if it tries to run away.
So it is interesting that Infantry is deploying as squads instead as individual units, but as you see not every infantry is individually tracked, they take casualties on damage to the squad rather than individual hits. Star Wars Empire at war has Squad movement commands but each model has its own hitpoints.
Super entertaining and very interesting video. Thanks so much dude, I enjoyed every minute of it. I think I'll plug my 360 back in and mess around against A.I.s again 🙂👍
Someone has never been cyclops rushed and it shows. Not only that they are useful for passive repair on vehicles when you dont have the healing ring available and they are good at knocking down bases.
Somebody got the Jesus Scarab. However, they kept my base barely alive. Eventually I got ODSTs, and spammed them. It managed to cheaply, and effectively annihilate that rush.
I remember winning a 2v3 by holding off the 3 players with mass wraiths+ghosts and a couple locusts via abusing scorch on a ramp i'd lead them into, my teammate went full eco and just took 2/3 the map and funded me while they kept trying to break me, eventually he stocked up his army, i wiped their newest attack (i think it was their 3rd mass attack) and we just ran to their bases, me from the front, him from the flank, we wiped their remaining armies/reinforcements and won, felt so good even if they were bad Wraith scorch s tier
I'm actually a little surprised Cyclops got such a low ranking with the healing they off for UNSC. I mean it costs for the upgrade sure but I heard there were cheeses with them too. (Long time ago though) still loved the seeing the rankings and explanation. Looking forward to joining the community
I'm actually really sad about the Cyclops as it's good in situations where you need to destroy the base fast enough cyclops can do enough damage to destroy and it's healing to vehicle abilities makes it better as it can heal heavy units and if you're playing a multiplayer your friend can heal your scarab in combat it's score goes down a lot so 5/10 my opinion
Vultures saved me a couple of times. I was three hours into a 2v2 AI game and both enemies had scarab. I was able to survive by base hopping, but I would max gauss hogs and they would just get wiped out. I saved up resources, and built as many as I could. Sniped all thier bases.
I’ve never heard it called the “Jesus Scarab” before, haha. I’ve always called it a ‘Super Scarab’. Great video, thanks for the information! 1:32:46 lmao.
I don’t know why but whenever I build warthogs in an army they feel like they’re made of paper mache and always die the quickest out of everything in my army.
@@TurnipVids awww man you didn't have to do me a shout out! It's late here I'll have to watch the rest later but I pretty much agree. I dunno about cyclops I think maybe as forge in 1v1 you might use them to heal your tanks instead of using the heal all the time but that's a super niche situation. I obce saw someone high level pelican some across on fort deen but it wasn't as useful as going hogs and didn't really accomplish a whole lot. It's such a shame. I remember the demo version of the game and there was a snall amount of developer commentary on it. One of them was super stoked about the cyclops. It's big and it rips chunks off of things and throws them. Has some cool animations too. Again a real shame.
For the cyclops, I always have 2 with the repair kit chilling back at my main base. I rarely use the "all units" command, so they'll stay back there for strictly healing the base and other units. I'll send small waves of damaged units back so they can get repaired, and then I'll rotate them back out to the front. It saves me a lot of resources on rebuilding KIA units or purchasing healing fields. I'm also the type of goblin who spams supply pads and only attacks the enemy base when a 3 to 1 advantage can be guaranteed, so I'm extremely defensive. Offensively tho, they are practically useless
I was super new to halo wars and me and my friends payed all of the time and one game we were playing on labyrinth and i had 3 tanks, 3 spartans, acess to a node, and a lust for blood so i went over there with 7 vet tank spartans with 2 sentinels on each tank and went for his base he had a full infantry army so you could imagine the blood bath
I wish this game was more popular, I miss the days of playing this online. I was never good enough to play against the truly top ranks and it seems the only players that you can ever still find are too good to play against I almost feel bad making their lobby less fun. Halo Wars 2 was fun just didn't hit as this game did for me personally.
Man, this brings me back. I definitely agree that engineers are underused. I didn't play a lot of multiplayer, and only really had one game where my teammates communicated. I built a bunch of elite honor guards and snuck around to attack from behind. One ally built two scorpions while the other just spammed engineers. Really I mostly was just harassing the enemy, but that match was a blast.
Having a 3 star chieftain with a group of engineers was always one of my favorite things, I once had a chieftain with a group of 20 engineers that was basically unkillable.
I remember using cobras and elephants to create borders and shit and it was SO effective. Give the elephant that big ass auto cannon for AA and they shred as a defensive wall
You're a treasure for making this content. Thank you so much. I've enjoyed watching this over the last 3 days, and it's been great to refine the way we play using this info. Thanks again, and keep up the good work. You're a straight killer! Long live the prophet and peace be with you, brother.
One annoying thing about melee units (and spartans up close) that aren't Brute Chieftain, is that they spend 8 years doing a fancy finishing move when they see an infantry unit at low health.
The Cobra is a highly underrated UNSC Vehicle, I personally love the Cobra, my favorite vehicle from the Halo franchise. I do agree that its a bit slow but there really versatile when you mix it with other units to soak up the damage, I've manage to do a couple of Cobra rushes in 3v3's, they can shred Scarabs if used correctly, personally give it an S tier but in all fairness I'll let you rate it as you did, its your personal opinion and I respect it
Can you find the unit that is in the A.S.S Tier?

Man I had no idea about the grizzly thing, I guess Ander’s is the way forward, although in the same sense forge could be decent for hornet rush I suppose
I used to love playing as Forge, but I don't anymore. The only good thing about him is the supply pads but I'd rather play as Anders or Cutter now.
Great video bro, you did forget a few things though, such as
The turrets,
The invincible offensive protector glitch where you can march it out to sit in front of someone's base and they cant do jack shit about it,
The chieftains vortex floating glitch, similar to the chicken walk but you can get the chief to pass over unpassable terrain with it
One of my favorite meme strats was 3v3 ft Deen cyclops surprise attack via pelican.
I've seen this glitch before, definitely doesn't help the vulture's case lol. Thanks for watching
@livewiregaming6941 The issue is that they fold like paper if you're prepared
@@wow-effect yes, I can agree with that. I just like their weapons and how cool of a vehicle it is.
@@MistaHoward you are correct. 900 resources just for the prophet of regret to laser beam the vulture straight off the map
Watched all the way to the end, thank you for all the time and effort you put in the video! Definitely learned some new stuff from this
Awesome, thank you! Hope to aee you again Artorias
I usually make only 2 vultures to support my ground forces. Use their Y ability and then send them to destroy enemy buildings to add pressure. 2 vultures can destroy 4 buildings in 12 seconds from what I’ve seen.
Gauss banshee and power turret tanks is all you ever needed on this master piece of a game
Indeed they are powerful
Best Halo Wars video I've ever watched. Thank you for making this.
Wow, thank you! You're welcome. Glad you liked it
I never played Halo Wars online, I only replay the campaign like once a year because it brings back memories and good nostalgia so I still watched the full vid
Thanks for watching! You should try out skirmish sometime, its very fun.
@@TurnipVids You made me re-dl the game haha
I always liked the idea of the cyclops, but they were always too slow to be useful
I wish i had this video back in 2010
I believe the pierce shot of the Cobra can go through shields.
Shields are compromised of microscopic lasers. Basically it's so many lines moving together that it looks solid.
A rail gun projectile is moving fast enough to pass through the little lines inside the shield.
A piercing shot :)
Also, kudos to you this video is like a 2 hour spirit of the law video for halo wars, it's so chill.
Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also like SOTL Vids!
You mean the laser thing is in the lore or it's the way they work ingame?
@@josesanchezrodriguez1783 Nono lol. A real rail gun could. My man’s is just applying real life science to a halo game
Thank you for watching!
@@TurnipVids you are welcome, any chance of HW2 unit review vid?
I'll never rule that out, I definitely enjoyed the first game more than the second who knows maybe someday in the future I will pick it up
I forgot how much I loved this game, always played it on my 360. Gonna have to get back into it now
Love how there’s StarCraft music in this video. Good vid tho bro
Thank you!
I don't know how I just found this video, but you, my friend, are the MadSeasonShow of Halo Wars. I love it.
I think the cyclops and vulture were pretty low for the 2v2 and 3v3 ratings. In solo play, they're pointless, but if you coordinate with your team and build a base popping army and focus down bases rather than enemy units while your teammates fight with you it is a very powerful and frightening strategy.
Personally I love cobras. Set them up behind energy walls and watch the enemy's get shredded
Wow, I actually watched the entire video. Didn't mean to at the beginning, but seems like I'm a true Halo Wars fan.
I havent heard your golden ponyboy in forever, I know it was just a brief comment but man that earned my respect.
Thanks for watching! Sorry for the late reply
Thank a bunch!
Your humorous commentary is so dry I love it, and your analysis is really good
El video es tan bueno que hay gente de habla hispana disfrutandolo, Great Job!!! It´s a very satisfying and helpful video
Gracias por mirar! Quizas algún día haré un video en español
We called the Jesus scareb the unforgivable Strat
Someone has never been cyclops rushed and it shows. Not only that they are useful for passive repair on vehicles when you dont have the healing ring available and they are good at knocking down bases.
Somebody got the Jesus Scarab. However, they kept my base barely alive. Eventually I got ODSTs, and spammed them. It managed to cheaply, and effectively annihilate that rush.
the algorithm blesses thee
The sacred icon has been found
I remember winning a 2v3 by holding off the 3 players with mass wraiths+ghosts and a couple locusts via abusing scorch on a ramp i'd lead them into, my teammate went full eco and just took 2/3 the map and funded me while they kept trying to break me, eventually he stocked up his army, i wiped their newest attack (i think it was their 3rd mass attack) and we just ran to their bases, me from the front, him from the flank, we wiped their remaining armies/reinforcements and won, felt so good even if they were bad
Wraith scorch s tier
I'm actually a little surprised Cyclops got such a low ranking with the healing they off for UNSC. I mean it costs for the upgrade sure but I heard there were cheeses with them too. (Long time ago though) still loved the seeing the rankings and explanation. Looking forward to joining the community
Welcome aboard!
I didn't know the protectors were so op. Now I know how to mess with my friend.
you remind me of one of my friends back in the day who was a massive prophet fanboy and treated him like the absolute chad he is
True alpha male
I’m two years late but I loved this video. I miss Halo Wars so much, back in the day. Halo Wars today is just not the same…
1:44:30 - Me, a first-timer who likes Halo wars and found the video interesting: Yeah bro, glad to help with the algorithm and the channel!
I didn't realise how long this video was, I've been really enjoying it, I hope there is one for halo wars 2
Only 3 minutes in and I'm loving the music choice
Vultures saved me a couple of times. I was three hours into a 2v2 AI game and both enemies had scarab. I was able to survive by base hopping, but I would max gauss hogs and they would just get wiped out.
I saved up resources, and built as many as I could. Sniped all thier bases.
So in depth, great quality, commentary was incredibly entertaining. I liked and subbed! Thank you for the information Turnip.
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I spent over an hour on the half on my floor just chill’n as I reimagine my time playing this game.
Thank you
Jackals are so strong they make you go 43:31
Jokes aside, very good video!
I remember having a blast playing this on my old xbox 360
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
That final edit of the Prophet killed me LOL
Shut the hell up man they’re listening..
I’ve never heard it called the “Jesus Scarab” before, haha. I’ve always called it a ‘Super Scarab’.
Great video, thanks for the information!
1:32:46 lmao.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it
That version of impend with the guitar... nice
H2 Epilogue track is the best
I don’t know why but whenever I build warthogs in an army they feel like they’re made of paper mache and always die the quickest out of everything in my army.
Gassss video actually really helpful haven’t played hw in ages
I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching through the whole thing!
How did I miss this masterpiece? Ima watch the whole thing. Give my thoughts afterwards.
Make sure you check out 1:46:49. Hope you like it!
I haven't played halo wars in years but this brought back such nostalgic memories.
My mouth hit the floor when you put the Vulture at E tier. Your reasoning makes a lot of sense but I’m still shocked.
We were all suprised
Really I mostly was just harassing the enemy, but that match was a blast.
for me with vultures give them a pair of hornets or hawks as escort they help make the final campaign mission easier
The prophet during the vid: B B B
The prophet during the end: S Bud light Illuminate
Having a 3 star chieftain with a group of engineers was always one of my favorite things, I once had a chieftain with a group of 20 engineers that was basically unkillable.
I remember using cobras and elephants to create borders and shit and it was SO effective. Give the elephant that big ass auto cannon for AA and they shred as a defensive wall
im so glad to know that even with the years this game never gets too old
You're a treasure for making this content. Thank you so much. I've enjoyed watching this over the last 3 days, and it's been great to refine the way we play using this info. Thanks again, and keep up the good work. You're a straight killer! Long live the prophet and peace be with you, brother.
Thank you friend!
One annoying thing about melee units (and spartans up close) that aren't Brute Chieftain, is that they spend 8 years doing a fancy finishing move when they see an infantry unit at low health.
That's like the best part of the game
Hey who doesn’t like seeing them doing a finisher ala Doom!
imagine not liking sync kills
Sat through the whole video, great job. Thanks for uploading. Loved it
Thanks for watching! 😉Hope you saw the credits
Dude, the ending hahahaha. Okay I consider myself now in the prophet club. He has the drip, with his chair.
The Cobra is a highly underrated UNSC Vehicle, I personally love the Cobra, my favorite vehicle from the Halo franchise. I do agree that its a bit slow but there really versatile when you mix it with other units to soak up the damage, I've manage to do a couple of Cobra rushes in 3v3's, they can shred Scarabs if used correctly, personally give it an S tier but in all fairness I'll let you rate it as you did, its your personal opinion and I respect it
You obviously haven't encountered the elephant shield wall paired with cobras
I've always found the Vulture to be S tier and rush to make them and use them along with a full army to sweep the entire game
This is my favorite game of all time
