    I sewed my granddaughter ball glove for softball . The strap broke had to replace it . My HD9 went though it like butter used the big needle , her glove was so soft she did not want a new on. She is in high school junior. I just ❤️ my machine

    Hi Michael, thanks for this very informative talk about the HD9 machine, I absolutely love the look of it, and now I want one! It’s probably a bit out of my league but it would be great for quilting. I especially loved seeing the cloth guide being used with the standard foot, and how it went so fast. I love the 6700p because of the semi industrial motor, but now I love THIS! Loved seeing all the accessories that go with it too, wow! Always enjoy your talks, thank you, and God bless you.

    There is a CB hook like in the standard bernina s or most of household machines of metal hooks.
    And the DB hook is the industrial version some of the older Pfaff machines do also have a DB hook but in another version than the HD 9 but is the same technik.
    Great video and thanks to you.
    In German we call it doppelumlaufgreifer /doubleturnhook...

    I have heard that the HD9 has a version 1 and version 2. Can you please tell me the difference between the two versions and how would I know which version I'm buying if I'm buying it used? Thank you. BTW, I live in the US.

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад

      HI Monica! Version 1 has a partial bobbin case where-as Version 2 has a full bobbin case. The sticker on the back of the machine will indicate which version it is (V1 or V2) but you'll also know by the bobbin case itself. That's the only difference between the 2. Happy Sewing!

    Is the HD9 “stronger” for bag seams than the M7 or 15000? Bag seams that end up thumping at very thick seams and breaking needles? Also is the HD9 and an industrial machine only different in that an industrial is made for very large quantity? Otherwise the HD9 is the same “strength” as an industrial? Thank you for the excellent presentation.

      Each of those machines have different motors, but the HD-9 is the fastest, so in that sense, it is a stronger motor. The 15000, and most machines can handle thick layers, however, with a few tricks - keep the presser foot level using the Button Shank Plate (sometimes called a Hump Jumper) use the correct size needle for the fabric/thread - lengthen the stitch length for thicker layers -Happy Sewing!

    When would you use the HD9 over the 1600p? What is the heaviest weight thread the 1600p can handle vs the HD9?
    Is the tension hard to adjust on either machine?

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад

      Hi Karyn, they are the same machine; the same guts; same 1600 stitches per minute, etc. The HD-9 is the updated version of the 1600P so it has a few more new features, but both machine's tension unit is easy to adjust by turning the dial to the selected number; the instruction manual of each machine has helpful tips and suggestions. I personally bought an HD-9 and have used a 12wt thread. The HD-9 has additional thread guides for heavier weight threads which helps untwist and relax the thread to minimize breakage, but both machines can use the same threads. Happy Sewing!

    Hello if I purchase the quilting ruler kit do I need the 1/4 ruler foot and plate you showed? Thank you

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад

      Yes! You definitely need to use the special 1/4" Ruler foot to safely use the rulers, and you'll need the higher needle plate included with the foot to bypass the feed-dogs so you can quilt in all directions. The really work well! Happy Sewing!

    How’s this machine compare to the janome hd1000?

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  3 года назад

      The HD-9 is faster, beefier, bigger, straight stitch only; the HD1000 has 18 stitches, smaller profile, lighter - you can do a more detailed model comparison on Janome.CA website

      I'm have the n HD5000,and just received the HD9. No comparison. The HD9 is by far the choice for heavy duty sewing. I bought this machine for purses and leather items. Look on Facebook Janome HD9 page. Lots of info there.

      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад

      HI Jill. The colour is the main difference, but the HD-9BE also comes with a large extension table, which the white HD-9 does not. It's an optional accessory.

      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад

      There's only one way to find out, lol! I assume the answer would be yes, as I haven't seen anything the HD-9 can't handle yet. There's multiple threading guides to use based on the thread weight, so it's very accommodating. Happy Sewing!

    If I am using tex 70 thread on the top, do I use a lighter thread on the bobbin or do I use the same tex 70. Thank you

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад

      Generally it's fine to use the same thread in the needle and bobbin, but always do a test to see what works best. You may need to adjust the bobbin tension screw to lessen the tension. Sometimes, however, heavier threads work better with a slightly lighter thread in the bobbin. Try to keep the same type of thread in both the needle and bobbin; polyester; nylon, etc. Happy Sewing!

    • @janomehqjanomecanada4908
      @janomehqjanomecanada4908  2 года назад +1

      The 1600P and HD-9 are basically the same machine; the same guts, but the HD-9 is the newer, updated version with improved, brighter LED lighting, a larger bobbin capacity, and new thread guides when using thicker threads. The HD-9 is now also available in black which has a large extension table included! There is a separate optional extension table available in white for the HD-9 in white, which would also fit the 1600P. Both deliver the same heavy-duty results at 1600 stitches per minute, so either way, you'll be choosing a fabulous robust machine! Happy Sewing!

      These "videos" are recordings of Instagram Live presentations so the image is tall and skinny. Instagram does not let me rotate the camera to landscape so when viewed on another platform, it does not fill the screen. More real videos are in the works!
