Very pragmatic, no unnecessary work, straight to the point. I feel a repair specialist with a lot or practical experience that doesn't waste time.
i cant decide if this is dodgey or not dodgey, i mean... its so rare to see a capacitor being replaced... but in a completely different motherboard! is a new level. graty work as always.
Not dodgy at all, I've fixed micro usb ports with pulled pads the same way and it always worked flawlessly, as long as you insulate it when you're done, the device is none the wiser.

Good content. I have enjoyed watching over the years and learnt a lot from you. Instead of wires invest in pad strips to fix torn solder pads and broken traces.
I was waiting for years for the video "we are replacing the capacitors, but in the next video". Minute 33:00 we got it. (I learned: input caps no have to be replaced, output caps have to be repaleced, means if a cap is not connected to GND better change it for a new one.
All caps should be replaced. They are there because the board designer knew what he was doing. Since boards are reduced to the minimum there are no superfluous caps anywhere. Point 2: Replace the caps with new ones. Most of the broken caps break because they were overstressed. So they are at a vital point and aging quickly. To say this clearer: If you replace a grandpa cap with the same grandpa cap of another board you will give your customer only a short time of happyness.
sorin explained it ones, All filtering caps are usually more that needed, due to the interfering regulations. Usually there are several in parallel, and if one still there, others are not needed. This is ofcose for PC and android, all Apple crap is much more sensitive and have better to be replaced there.
@@silviuguseila2552 I'm board designer. You should replace all the caps if you want to make a nice repair. I would. It's not that hard. And yes you should replace them with new one. Also ceramic caps and all electronics is sensitive to heat, I would avoid hot air as long as possible. But yes Sorin is correct your circuit will survive easily with removing some of the input/output caps. Depending on the power rail obviously but 19V input rail has the most caps all over the board. But there is still a reason to have local caps to each power supply or chip. This is due to capacitance/inductance in the traces. Yes board works, but you may have more noise on the output. If it's in really hard place to reach I would understand, but otherwise I would always replace caps with the new ones.

Hi Sorin and All Thank you so much for the kind gift of a one-month membership to Electronics Repair School! I truly appreciate your generosity and thoughtfulness. I’m excited to dive into the content and make the most of the perks and benefits that come with it. This is a wonderful opportunity, and I’m very grateful for your support! Best Regards, Bob Paydar
19:25 lol. When you checked the current you shorted the input circuit of main power rail while the voltage was present. Thats why the main power rail got shorted. Lol!
You should buy a electronics scissors in addition to edge cutter. :) both are superb to make nice cuts with and the scissors are less prone to be damaged when you eventually will mistreat them a bit. 😂 at least I end up doing that.
Awesome repair video. The only downside for this job is probably a change in internal memory size and the CPU heatsink. Internal memory may be higher with the new board or lower. For the CPU heatsink, that metal shim is not ideal for an i5 and above CPU, which the laptop may support. The motherboard you picked up likely has a faster CPU since it will be more popular than an i3.
Now i realized, the motherboard on Ebay has a much weaker processor than the original one, it's Pentium Gold. It will be joy on the client's head. Sad for the client, pizza for Sorin 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
can somebody explain what did he do here to diagnose and repair the laptop. as i remember on the original board there was chipset fault, i did not see him replacing rhe chipset.

I did the same thing with a notebook with broken integrated RAM. Unfortunately the bios patches didn't work and there are no schemes to disable it, I bought the same broken card for 30 euros and it only had a corrupted bios. Before buying it I asked if they had attempted to repair it but they said no and I bought it, now after several months I recovered the schemes and disabled the integrated RAM so I have another one that works 🤣

It's where the back cover touches and create a tunnel for the fan air.
What cleaning liquid is that?
