- This video, I am getting close to wild boar. I show you the fieldcraft I use to move silently and unseen by the wild boar. Everyone knows about the wind direction and being silent. But there are more skills needed to get close. These skills are usefull for many, but especially wildlife photographers. By accident I bumped into a group of wild board, and recorded the process of getting close on video. So I can show you here how I did it that day.

Goed bezig jeroen . Je hebt de swienties er mooi op staan ! lekker benedenwinds en met langzame bewegingen dichterbij komen is wel het beste inderdaad, tenslotte zien de meeste dieren geen camouflage kleuren of überhaupt kleuren . Beweging ,geluid en je geur dat is wel t belangrijkste wat dieren triggert voor wat ik weet. Leuke video weer , Groet Martin.
Geluid en wind voor dieren belangrijker dan zicht inderdaad :)

I only ever had one really good encounter with wild boar, but then my camera was totally out of battery! One day....

Mmmmm. I've got a camera like that Geoff. So disappointing, but I always know who to blame. Although I'm sure your batteries have died of exhaustion.
@@fusion-music hehe, unfortunately it was totally my fault - I had both my batteries in a battery grip on my D200 and somehow something had been left pressing on the camera on switch all night in my camp, so in the morning there was no power left at all... Of course that morning I then saw loads of wildlife, including several wild boar families really close up in beautiful morning light!! Maybe it's part of why I now don't really like battery grips ;)

I was looking for Boar and deer in the forest a few days ago, at one point the leaves were so dry and noisy I just had to laugh at myself.
