This show (and the novels have) absolutely SHATTERED me! I was Charlie at that age. Outed, bullied, jumped, self harmed.. got roped into a situationship by a Ben. I was in a very dark place for years. Although I’ve never had a Nick. I’ve gone it alone my entire life. Today is my 40th birthday and I’ve barely acknowledged it. I don’t have much to show for it. I’ll be homeless in a couple months, still single… if anything I have my car and my dog. This show is pretty much keeping me alive.
I have always thought that Heartstopper is more about Charlie's story rather than Nick and Charlie's love story. Throughout the two seasons, while enduring difficult times, Charlie remains a genuinely kind, patient, and supportive human being. Joe's portrayal of Charlie is so important that it could save lives.
In the comic it is from the very beginning the story of the relationship between Nick and Charlie. At the same time, you're right Charlie is the true protagonist of the story, but Nick is literally the heartstopper, that person who will change Charlie's life forever. Alice has worked a magic creating these two incredible characters.
The Nick and Tao conversations are the best. The one at the picnic table last season was a turning point in Nick’s head, and this conversation at prom setup is as well. Such a good dynamic. Every time Nick picks up Charlie with a bear hug I get a lump in my throat. He loves Charlie so much, even if he hasn’t said it yet. ❤❤ Joe and Kit acted their asses off in the last scene. I’ve seen it literally about 2 dozen times, and I sob EVERY SINGLE TIME. You can see Nick’s heart breaking for Charlie.
I’ve watched so many reaction videos for Heartstopper now, and have just watched all of yours up to now. You are one of my favourites - very insightful and intuitive commentary. I’ll be with you for s3!!
Thank you so much for your awesome reaction. So I just want to say Kit revealed in an interview that they took seven hours to film that final scene. They did take after take. They knew how important it was. I also wanna point out that just like they did foreshadowing about Charlie’s eating disorder. They did foreshadow the self harm revelations. In episode five when Nick is asking him about his eating, Charlie presses, his nails into his arm. I can’t wait for season three. And I can’t wait for your reactions to it! Thanks again.
If you're feeling emotionally vulnerable for future rewatches, if you stop watching after Nick and Charlie say goodbye to everyone at the door like an old married couple, it's a lovely experience. That last scene just kills me. Charlie, being so stoic while admitting these terrible secrets, and Nick, being supportive and caring while trying not to burst into tears. They really do balance each other out so beautifully. Kit and Joe just nailed that last scene. It makes me bawl every single time.
Thank you for noticing Nick and his worries at the end of the episode. It's not uncommon for teens with Charlie's problems of ED and SH to have life-threatening episodes. Nick feels like all this is on his shoulders as the boyfriend. I am so happy to look forward to Sarah reassuring Nick that love cannot cure a mental illness and for Charlie to get the intensive medical help he surely needs.
Me having read the comics: Charlie nooooo don't send the message, don't send, don't send! 😅 Truly moving ending, that scene between Nick/Kit and Charlie/Joe was incredible, it shows us the maturation, as a couple, of the two protagonists and the growth, as actors, of Kit and Joe. That line that Nick says to Charlie "you don't have to be perfect with me" sums up the whole second season. I can't wait for the third season, a big storm is coming, the fourth volume was the hardest, the most moving. There will be some very funny and adorable scenes and some heartbreaking ones, especially one that Kit and Olivia will have to shoot and I'm sure with their skill they will make it memorable. Let's get the tissues ready!
this season was so powerful and so emotional i cryed in nearly every episodes its was so beautiful to watch and the cast and the writers and everyone who was in this and music its was perfect and u can feel the connection and feel there pain as well its perfect and i love it u can see how much he love char and care for him and i love it and i do agree with u nick is boyfriend that char need in his life that will stand up for him and just be there for him its was so beautiful to see this and kit and joe who played {nick & char} need to get warded for this its so beautiful scene .
Good shout on two things - the end of episode 1 and the end of episode 8. Also the dialogue is almost exactly the same when Nick comments on Charlie's hair and Charlie in his suit.
Thank you so much for your reactions. I love seeing them and love seeing your insights. The last scenes broke me, seeing charlie so happy, feeling more loved and seen than he ever has in his life. But we all know he's not sending that text. I think tori is probably the only one who knows about the bullying and I bet the self harm, too. Looking forward to season 3!
Omg again, the end breaks me i was a mess 😭😭😭🤧 the acting from kit and joe ❤ and did you see bens comment? He wrote And so? 😅 i hate when charlie says so many time perfect and imogen is not longer a ally?
Currently rewatching reactions, and I did want to add to the comment about Harry not bringing a girl either to point out that one guy actually DID bring a girl - Tao. Tao brought his incredibly beautiful girlfriend to prom. Wonder what Harry would say about that, or if he'd even recognize Elle from when she was still at Truham.
I enjoy your reactions! This season really was so powerful. I cannot watch it without bawling 😭 my eyes out. Especially episode 8 Charlie wrapping himself into a ball and Nick removing the layers…. So powerful. I love these characters so much. It seems there is a lot of green tones this season and I think it’s because Nick and Charlie are a couple now and. Because 💛+💙=💚. 😊 Season three will be a bit deeper and darker, but I am confident Alice and team will do an amazing job! Excited about Vol 5 in December. BTW do any of you spot Alice in the background when they are setting up for prom? Also, the last song playing in episode eight is William Goa his sister. I think he is playing the piano and she is doing the vocal. It’s beautiful. They have a band called Wasia Project. That song is called “ ur so pretty” So many mixed emotions here! I believe Ben does recognize he is toxic to Charlie on the multiple occasions because after each one, he offers his lame apology and believes he truly has apologized to Charlie until during their study hall time Nick forces him to better see how much he hurt Charlie I, too, felt bad for Ben during his sincere apology at Lambert, but if he was truly truly regretful he would not still be acting like a douchebag. Actions will always speak louder than words. In real life, people will tell you and show you who they really are. Bash seems like a lovely human being and it would have been amazing to see Ben really turn around. For me, I’m sad and a bit scared for the Ben character because he is in such a dark place and literally has not one person in his corner. Hopefully, he really does see how rotten he has been and does make better decisions moving forward……especially now that he sees just how happy he could be. I understand he has an unsupportive home life but that doesn’t give him the right to be so nasty to people. That’s the part that is unforgivable. That’s why Charlie has no forgiveness for Ben. If Ben’s parents can’t accept and love him for who he truly is, maybe they are who he needs to walk away from until they can….if that’s even possible. FAMILY is not always who you’re born into. Seek out and find the right people and surround yourself with them. 💛💙.
Hi - there is not a better medicine for having Covid than watching your Heartstopper reactions. I tested positive for Covid on Sunday and have not been feeling great - these reaction videos certainly have cheered me up as I end Day 3 of symptoms.

That final scene between these two. The chemistry is off the charts.

Your insights and observations were spot on. I enjoyed your commentary over the course of the series. Great job.
I'm so glad you included and commented on the last party scene at Nick's house. It's so so perfect!
Thank you. I love your reactions and your commentary on this episode was everything.
The last song ur so pretty is Tao's (Will Gao and his sister's band Wasia's song). The words were so fitting to the subtext of the season.
Really really really~love the song.

I can't really decide which season I prefer either.
Their vibes are very different though they both have the heartwarmind and wholesome vibe.
