wow is it just me or does the movi look better in every test? thanks for doing this video, it was exactly what I was looking for before making my decision
I Felt the same! I’m Glad it helped!
I 100% agree with this comment
I hate the fact that the Movi, in just about every single review that I've watched, always seems to win. It is so not in my budget! That said, I am penciling it in as I build my little video studio.
its also triple the price
Yes most definitely, I thought the same. Did you buy your Movi already? share your thoughts please.
A great video, it made me go for the Movi! On a quick note - how to film low to ground. Rotate the Movi so that you're holding the Movi with your left hand, basically upside down with the camera closer to the ground and the Movi above it (hard to describe but it looks like if the camera (iPhone) was sitting on a crane). Keep up the good work!
Really enjoy your personality. Love that you don't all all the extra "What is UP!" stuff that drives me so crazy. Solid, thoughtful, easy to watch, helpful reviews. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the kind words. Always trying to find the right balance between providing valuable information with a small amount of entertainment. 🙏🏻 comments like this help me keep going!
Tyler. If you double click the button at the back of the smooth 4, it will return to horizon. And if you just pick start and finish waypoints for the motion time lapse (instead of picking multiple ones in between) then it'll pan smoothly. Cheers!
Thankyou! At the time of filming I wasn’t able to find that information anywhere but I’ve had a few people reach out since and explain that one! 👍🏻 if only RUclips let you still add annotations.
Brilliant review. You used each gimble exactly like I would. I really appreciate that.
So nice to see the bar set high for RUclipsrs new and old out there doing "unboxing reviews". On that note, i'll subscribe and look forward to seeing you running in your next video.
Wow! Thank you so much for the very kind comment. Makes all the hard work worth it! 🙏🏻
You can reset the horizon on the smooth 4...double tap the bottom trigger on the back side of the handle.
That’s awesome! I assumed there had to be a way! I couldn’t find an answer googling while I was out testing! Thanks for the tip!
Just for future reference, these are things that you should probably know BEFORE doing a compare and contrast, product video. I'm not trolling you or attempting to be "mean."
The average consumer doesn't know every feature of everything they purchase, they sometimes learn through trial and error. When watching reviews, I appreciate reviewers who don't try to act like they know everything there is to know about a product, humility and honesty tend to help them get their point across much better.
@@TylerRostedt UPDATE THE VIDEO THEN
I’m currently working on a 2020 update for this video. Hopefully will be out soon.
Thanks to your video, I ended up getting the Movi a while back and LOVE it. Nice thing is you can attach a vertical hand grip under the Movi, giving it the same "pogo stick" form factor. Still, I think the Movi is way more ergonomic and is very easy to quickly setup and use. Their app is still "young", but they have a great in-house dev team and tons of experience from their professional line. Plus the Movi has open APIs for 3rd-party developers and upgradeable firmware, so it has a lot of future potential.
eleones where do you get the vertical hand grip to attach under the Movi? i’m in the midst of deciding which gimbal to get and somehow i feel the need for using 2 hands on the Movi is quite an issue.
@@nicholashex There's a ton of camera hand grip attachments on Amazon that can screw into the base, but the route I used is with my Manfrotto PIXI EVO 2 or my GorillaPod 3K (collapsed), so I can quickly open into a stand when I need to give my arms a rest.
Giving a thumbs up... however, my OSMO Mobile 2 (which i'm assuming that's what you mean by "OSMO 2") can perfectly balance my Galaxy S8+ very easily before the gimbal even turned on. It maintained great operation without "overworking the motors". For you that can't balance an S8+, not only can you adjust the horizontal arm, you can also adjust the phone clamps upward and downward (as well as using no case).
Great review. Best one I’ve seen so far!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it
I felt Ziyun is shaking the video as comparison other both , a gimbal work is reduce the shaking while taking video
you really put alot of time and worked hard to make this video, one of the best video of testing the gimbal in every possible way!. thumbs up!
Movi, hands down. Thanks for the shootout. It jives with other shootouts I've seen, and the stability is tops.
I agree! Glad it could be helpful! 👍🏻
Thanks for the demo, that little dog is SO cute, what kind is it?? I think the Movi is my favorite, seems to be the smoothest overall, I want one :)
I sat through the ads just so you get something from it! But I actually bought the freefly a few days ago and it's on back order. Since then, I've been doing more research about this and other gimbals. Thankfully you helped made up my my on buying the right gimble. I won't be returning the freefly. I can't wait until it arrives!
I just bought the Movi based on this informative review thanx!
That’s amazing! I’m glad I could help! You’re going to love it!
Best gimble review I've seen so far! And fyi... I found you via a video comment you made on someone else's gimble review.
So, keep doing that. Great way to create awareness for your channel.
Just thought I'd give you feedback on that.
I really really appreciate that feedback! It’s rare to get such thoughtful comments! Thank you for taking the time! 😃
If I am not mistaken one drawback with the Smooth 4 is that you can't replace the batteries. Has anyone had a bad experience with this.? Great review!
I use the Smooth Q, it's my first gimbal and I've loved it but Zhiyun app is a nightmare lol. The time-lapse is a nightmare to use for multiple points and just kept crashing my motors last time I tried it. I was looking to upgrade to something a little nicer, maybe with better tracking feature. I can't seem to get the Q to track a moving object. I do mostly skateboarding filming and that would be a selling point for me
Oh tell me about it! I wish Zhiyun would put more money into their app design. Trying to change settings on my Zhiyun Crane v2 is a nightmare. I didn’t test the tracking features of these 3, I know they all have it. But you’re not the first to mention it! I didn’t realize it was such a popular feature, or else I would have included some tests in this one!
@@TylerRostedt I just did some testing with it the other day, the selfie tracking did alright actually. And I also did a tracking box in my TV and moved around, it also did alright. I want to see how it does tracking one of my friends skateboarding, lol, I'm sure it will fail miserably
Great Video Tyler. I’m not pretty sure if I’ll use a mobile gimbal, but this review definitely helps.
Thanks for review !! Really awesome ! I am using DJI osmo and smooth 4, I prefer DJI osmo because lighter and easier to use. Movi in your review is the best, it has best stabilized shots you have done. I think because of the Movi's Shape. Thanks for pointing out motors of DJI osmo when touching screen, I have same issue; its not something that bother me but its there. One of biggest issue of DJI osmo compare to Movi is that DJI osmo is doing quite bad when using wide angle lens and counterweight with iPhone 8 plus. The whole thing is super heavy and it makes stabilization difficult resulting in slightly shaky videos with DJI osmo. Movi has better engineering with counterweight as it was specifically designed to use with lenses and counterweight
Dim The Unstoppable which of the two (DJI and smooth 4) would u recommend a beginner ?
Wow. The Movi was in a league of its own. I know which one I want!
I have the Zhiyun smooth 4 which I use with my iPhone 8 Plus, not sure what balancing instructions you read, but the iPhone balances perfectly.
Looking at the footage it seems like the Movi is using a stronger image stabilization for the added smoothness and leads to a slight crop. Not a big deal but does seem like the key to their stabilization advantage
I just orders the Movi Freefly. Either the counterweight system. Plus the moment iPhone case with a moment 18mm. And thank you for the reassurance that I bought the right thing for my starting video side hustle.
2:10 nice reflex
So besides that, good review man, thanks for the effort and time
Haha you’re the first one to point that out! Thanks very much! 🙏🏻
On the Movi Cinema Robot you can completely reverse the Gimble by flipping it upside-down. This allows for an better low shot experience.
Came for Gimbal advice. Was surprised to see USU footage! Aggies all the way!
As a new videoographer, this has been one of the most satisfying review videos I have ever watched period, maybe it was the puppy and the tea cup yorkie... and the jungle gym playground thingy.
Best comparison review out there by a long way. Thanks!
Thanks very much. I appreciate that 🤙🏻
Decided on the movi freefly, ordered it.. cant wait thanks Miles Teller
Hahahahahahahahaha this is an running joke with some of my friends and we all just had a good laugh! Excited for you to enjoy the movi. It’s a game changer!
Excellent video. Thanks for the thorough research and all the time you spent on it. Very much helps with decision making.
Great review. This is the review I was hoping to find. Thank you for putting this review together.
Glad you found it helpful! You’re very welcome!
Wow, this is my favorite gimble video of all time
All that running itself deserve double thumbs-up
Great video on the comparison of all 3 gimbals. I have to agree, I like the stabilization of the Movie better also. But at 3x the cost 🤔
Thank you for such a comprehensive video and using your doggy 🐕
The smooth 4 stands out to em because it is the cheapest out of the bunch but definitely not the worst. It even exceeds the freefly in some cases! Nice review!
You should get the One wheel . Great vid. I got the movi and I'm digging it.
Oh man I would love a one wheel! When I have a spare $1500 haha. Thanks!
Great review. No, one of the best including the Movi. Thanks!!
Thanks very much! Glad you appreciated it!
Way to go man! Great review!
Thankful for your support always mate!!
Movie keeps you Moving. Got it, together with moment lenses...unbeatable
I've tried the moment lenses. I was skeptical at first but they produce really nice stuff!
OMG.. YO THE MOVI CRUSHES EVERYTHING.. So glad I didn't get the smooth 4. I'm ordering Freefly immediately thanks 4 the compares.
Movi is really good till you want to film continuously over extended periods of time (more than an hour for example). For example, iPhone 8 last max about 1 hour when doing video. You can charge from Movi but type C cable are not particular flexible (also connector is located in a awkward position to be used as a phone charger ). Other option is to use a phone battery case but that increase the weight.
Solid. I really enjoyed that gratuitous cute puppy footage too! 😀
Hahaha! Some people use attractive models in waterfalls. I use cute doggo’s!
best video I saw in the last time about these gimbals. thank you!
summary at 10:45 for those who want just that.
If you aren't really going to be using the apps, only for a few time experimentation, which would be more ideal, mainly while walking, for lowrider cruise nights, getting nice angles with super minimal jitter movement and being able to get better results to edit videos with outstanding outcomes? The Mobile 2 or Smooth 4?
Great review . I can admit what you said about osmo. I have an iPhone XS Max and it can’t handle it properly . I can feel the motor is trying to much . Same issue I had earlier with smooth though it was worse , the motor would just give up . I will sell the osmo and get Movi . Thank you
The price is tough at first. But the movi is such a better machine. Feels indestructible. You will love it.
Flip the Movi upside down for those low shots. Put the Movi onto a monopod and you’ve got the best smartphone crane ever. Use echo mode to get specialty moves. It’s way addictive. Also, is this Provo?
really good, but i cant just borrow all the time. i have seen this Feiyu Teach Vlog pocket, it's really small and handy and a bit cheaper that some other brands, but im not really sure if it's worth buying. i bet its not included in your reviews of different gimbals. looking forward to your response. thank u
I have not tested the feiyu gimbals yet. I’m working on a follow up video to this one and maybe I will include one! Thanks for watching!
I was torn between the smooth 4 and movi but this video has really helped me out.... cheers bud... off to buy a movi now 👍
My favorite are the fur babies running that came out very nice and crispy clear. Why would you risk that gray one from falling down? Why not get a TRIPOD?!?!
U have to double tab the bottom trigger on back twice to return to horizon. 🤦♂️
I’m a beginner iPhone filmmaker, I’m not sure which to get between the Osmo or Smooth 4. I can afford both but don’t know which to get. Any advice?
I am seeing that MoVI is winning across the board as testers seem to pick it over everything else. probably by now that could have changed. I think the downside for me will be the thumb getting in the way of the motors once you add the weight balance and a mic... sooo hmmm... but for the most part, every review I've seen the same response so I think its a good choice for me.... I was looking for an opinion that didn't seem biased.. though I don't think your opinion is biased at all. I think for the value of shooting and functionality I do see that MoVI is definitely a good choice. thanks for your review. I haven't seen a video that did tests like this so good stuff!!!
Hey man thanks for the comment. I’m actually working on an updated video with 6-8 of the best current 2020 options. I’m hoping I will have it up in the next month. If you’re not in a rush maybe hold off. There are a lot of good options a bit cheaper than the movi now. For strength and reliability. Movi is still king though.
@@TylerRostedt hey thanks man, I appreciate your insight. I actually grabbed the MoVI on a great deal... used but in mint condition... just waiting to receive it. I liked your review of use in different scenarios... and since I don't have it right now doesn't mean I won't look for a better option to shoot with so looking forward to your next video. I am actually looking for a mic to use to mount but also one that can double as a boom but has a small footprint like the Rodes videoMicro. But for the MoVI, I was actually looking for a difference in opinion or even a strong reason that I've made a good choice to give me a reason to consider something else. I'll be looking out for your new video man. Thanks for the review.
Killed this review 💯
Thanks mate! 🙏🏻
Very good Review, thank You!
Thanks Axel! Glad you liked it 🙏🏻
Great review! Thanks for helping me choose which one is best
Thanks so much! Glad it helped!
@@TylerRostedt Hi, which one is best for huwawi mate 10?
Wow, you get what you pay for. Movi wins. Every category. Good video. Thanks.
Yeah it cleans the floor. Thanks! Glad it could be helpful!
id say especially in the fast movement test the movi was very bad, it may have been smoother but it was not responding fast which is kind of the whole point of having a fast response mode.
hey tyler, i heard ppl have been overheating the motors on the smooth 4 vs the dji. zihyun is def better if using iphone, but if you're android don't even think about it
Awesome video. The Movi's video looks the best, but it's not for ground low shots, like you said. I have the LanParte HHG-01, and I'm thinking about getting a better one, but then the GoPro Hero7 Black just looks so good, so I might just get that instead.
Freefly Movi costs $299 in comparison to $99 for FreeVision Viltra M. The latter has been receiving very positive reactions from reviewers on RUclips. You probably should review FreeVision Viltra M. The Viltra G model is for GoPro.
Moza Mini Mi or Vilta M are better.
But again most gimbals don't fully support Android, so there's no any winner unless you're iOS user.
Youre the second to mention these 2. They seem to be taking off quickly. Gonna have to check them out!
I love the Movi and it does seem to operate more smoothly than the others
Good sharing ~ you changed my mind Osmo 2 > Movi Freefly ^^ Thanks!
forgot the reason why I watched the video. I got hypnotized by the cute doggo
I hav a question
Can I use my phones camera app instead of using the stabilisers app
For example if I use a Sony Xperia 1 can I use the cinema pro app
Wish i watched this review before I bought my osmo 2 :( I should have gotten the Movi
Loved it, thanks. Considering the movi. Can you use it with a mic attached to the phone?
Superb review, many thanks!
✌🏽 From Amsterdam
Awesome review, mate. Thank you.
Thanks for this well done review.
supper wow great video..thanks for this.
You’re very welcome! Thanks for watching!
How Movi is at selfie shooting? Is it comfortable to hold it? Is it keep focusing on your face while you walk and turn?
actually, smooth 4 have the reset position... Just double tap the trigger button and there you go
Really nice review man! thumbs up!
Great review! It really surprised me to see the BYU Campus & Rock Canyon Park. It’s not often you see your home town when you randomly pull up a RUclips video. Ha! 😁
“Heyyyyy I know this place”, I love it when that happens!!
Seems like these gimbals are excellent exercise devices. Forcing you to run for fun
They need to have light attachments or mounts to make them more appealing there are $20 stabilizers the allow mics, lights and much more with out all the extra hooray
Hahaha just be glad no one called the cops when you were doing the running tests.
This is the cutest tutorial I’ve ever seen
Having the osmo 2 already. I knew the movi was the most professional. Prob going to save up and get it next. :)
If it’s in your budget. It’s a pretty amazing tool! I didn’t think I would love it as much as I did
Tyler Rostedt it’s not. Still saving up for it. But between this, the beast grip pro rig, anamorphic lens and moment lens. It’s still cheaper than a new dslr.
Now i know which one should i buy.. thank you son. You earned a like and subbed!
You're good man hahahaha it was fun watching! One question: how easy can be to achieve a parallax effect with the Movi? I saw a video where the Smooth 4 did a pretty damn good job with it. Thanks
Thank you for this amazing review! Is the Movi available for other phones like the Samsung Note 9?
Thank you very much for sharing to us such a amazing video
Pretty sure the Smooth 4 has 2 triggers. Or at least mine does and a double tap of the bottom trigger recenters
U can do the lower shots on the movie easily with a separate tripod
Hello nice video :) i want to ask object tracking mode? Im so confused i have iphone 8 plus and want to buy gimble. Did you try object track with zhiyun. İ know dji is the best but i like the zhiyun features but object track is important for me and i need advice :) thank u
For object tracking, the osmo-2 is the best! The video that compares the three gimals are under extreme conditions and I guess most often one will rarely use them. Having said all this, I would still suggest for the osmo-2 since it is the best in its price and has some of the best features too for a buttery smooth cinematic footage. Though the osmo-2 feels less premium due the plastic, but it does its job excellent as it comes from DJI, the most trusted company and makers of best drones. And the best part is that the osmo-2 is very light, easy to carry in the backpack while travelling and has a battery backup for 15 hrs.
Sweet! Great review!
Thanks mate!
Good info. Really helpful. Helped me make a decision
dude, you're lucky your dogs can cooperate to be used in this video , my cat only follow me if he's hungry.
Hahaha he has good days and bad days.
So wait ! You want to say that at 5:45 you were running too ? Is that MOVI gimbal that smooth ?
Movi is on another level when it comes to motor strength. But you pay for it at 3x the price.
Great video bro. What do I think of the photo pano modes on those three gimbals.
And I would love to see what u think of Moza Mini-Mi and free vision Vilta M.
I found the photo pano modes pretty similar to the motion time-lapses. All of them basically do it. Movi and Osmo are easier to set because of the joystick and the movi you just move with your hand.
I've seen a lot of people talking about these 2. Might have to get a hold of them and do another comparison! thanks for the comment!
You have to balance the gimbal before turning on, other wise the motor will be having a hard time, ultimately it will overheats.
Best review no words bro !!
What an awesome and thorough review. Honestly I hated Osmo's setup. You have to download their app, make an account, connect your phone to it just to be able to get it started using its motors. That's dog crap. Also the movi was the most stable out of all of them. Too bad it's so expensive.
Thanks! Honestly I went into this review thinking I would like the osmo the most because of its size, weight, design, but by the end I liked it the least.
THANKS YOU, MOVI IS MY CHOICE
You won’t be disappointed. That thing is still going strong
@@TylerRostedt Thanks, do you also use it for filming? Now it is hard to find to buy it
What did you think about their apps and time-lapse options?
