Very cool, brought back memories of Henry Radio in LA back in the 60's. What a great collection - you certainly never can move with all those boat anchors. The SX-28 is a great classic 73's W5YB

you have a very nice set up. I especially liked the Johnson equipment, as my first station was a Viking Challenger transmitter and Lafayette KT-320 receiver. I know it's not ham gear but i couldn't help notice the Admiral TV set on the shelf in your garage. I had one like it that I inherited from a friend of my dad, it worked but needed work. I sold it to a friend who has restored it.

For those not familiar with the WN prefix, in those days when you got your novice license you received a call beginning with WN, the N stood for novice and when you upgraded the 'N' was removed from your call sign. So his call was WN6QCZ and when he upgraded he was issued W6QCZ. This practice lasted until the FCC ran out of 1 by 3 W and K calls.

A KWM2 was a life saver during a cruise on "old leakin Lenna" a US NAVY ship just two turns of the prop from going deep. The radio gear was from WWII but its was 1966 bejeezus! Never failed whether on cw or RTTY.

Awesome Station, Looks like your into AM. I enjoy the older Ham Rigs. I noticed in the beginning of the video your Novice Call Sign. My first Call Sign Was WN0QHB. That was a fun call on CW.

Why must there be negative talk? Why is it bad for someone to have money, and spend it wisely preserving such fine equipment. Fine collection Sir!

Hi there, what would you say is better for a first radio the Icom Dstar 2M - 70cms or a Yeausu 10M, 6M, 2M and 70cms? i am stuck on what to get as i'm away to sit my licance exam in 3weeks...

    • @patrickwall8517

shane stephen I have been licensed for over 25 years. My advice to you is once you get your license find out what facet of ham radio you like best and then do some research and find the radio that fits it the best. If you are interested in vhf/uhf and repeaters right now Dstar is still in its infancy, unless your area has a lot of Dstar repeaters it would be best to start with something that is analog or if you can find it something that is capable of doing both analog and Dstar. I hope this helps.

+shane stephen get the Yaesu FT-857D it has all bands all mode, and if you go mobile, you can install the ATAS120 and the radio will tune it to the lowest VSWR

man you need to quit hording all that stuff, no wonder I can't find a decent old box to get a station going.
