I really love how you hang out with your parents, they are cute. I am really old so I lost my dad a few years ago and my mom is really sick. We had some good times when I was your age kinda like this. That's really cool. My wife is Japanese (I am a white guy) and she lives in America and she and her family talk like once every 3 months. Your fam seems a lot like my American fam. Just an observation. Loved the video as always Janice, you are really cool!
Thank you so much for sharing the ExperienceHK event! Feeling so nostalgic & a great cultural experience for the kids 😊 I’ve shared that with all my mum friends & everyone ;)
Your videos appeared on my RUclips Home Screen exactly when I am missing Hk the most! All those yummy food though 🤤 loving your videos, keep up the good work 💪💪
Great video as always. I have heard about roast goose. Hope I get the chance to try it sometimes. Did your parents quarantine at the same hotel as you on your arrival? How much is the dim sum per plate in HK ?
Thanks Kevin, yeah we were all at the same hotel. the price of dim sim really depends on what you're ordering, but for e.g. a thing of siu mai was around $35 HKD
The roast goose soup looked so delicious! I sympathize with you in your fight to grab the noodles, I have the same problem when I try to grab the last noodles from the bottom of a bowl of pho! I love ginger tofu pudding, one of my favorite dishes. Strangely, I ate it more often in the morning at Dim Sum, or maybe it's a different dish.
@@JaniceFung The tofu is just like regular soft tofu but they add a sweet gingery flavored syrup on top. It's not orange like the one in your video, it's yellowish, maybe like the color of ginger juice. It's very delicious. It is really possible that it is a desert and I never figured it out!
Do you guys have proper HK style wonton noodles in Sydney? I mean the ones with extra fine noodles, yellow chives, and seafood broth? Because I can't get it in Perth, even when I go to supposedly HK style restaurants. What we get here is fairly eggy noodles in a chicken broth, and the wontons contain much more pork than prawns. For that reason, it's a dish that I can never order with any confidence that it'll be any good.
The roast goose and the desserts looks delicious! It's all my favorites. I cant wait to go back to HK end of this year. Waiting for more inspiration for my list to try :)
@@JaniceFung Have you ever heard of the 9 layer seafood hot pot? That is something to try. Restarant 9 Steam Fresh (九重鮮) seems to be a good one. Or a rooftop restaurant Wooloomooloo in Wan chai with a great view over the city.
I know i should be talking about what you are eating now but, at the moment i am planning to go to Australia and just had to thank you so much for all the videos on Australia. I am going to all the places that you recommended especially the Blue Mountains. Thank and enjoy Hong Kong!
Goose looks juicy and tender, my favorite is the skin on goose especially when crispy :) All desserts look so tempting especially tofu pudding. Nice video Janice 👍
The goose did look delicious and all the other dishes too ..I love that restaurant such a great find Janice .You know how much I love your vlogs your I adore thank you for showing us your experience with great food and also your travels I love it ..x💕🥰❤️
Never been sky100 or the roast goose place. Both look great. Will have to go when I have time. LMAO your mum and the kelp hahahha a washcloth with calories hahahhahaha
Hi Janice, nice video and roast goose is my favorite in HK, you need to go to Yung Kee in Wellington St, Central HK & try their roast goose and century eggs. It’s won heaps of awards…
Janice, I am moving to PRC and will be passing through Hong Kong going into PRC, will be taking out some friends who are residing in HK to dinner or lunch to have the goose noodles. I hear of it and it is legendary and seek out the Wan Chai place. Is there any other stores besides the Wan Chai store in other places? Thank you for seeking out the restaurant as I was wondering where to take my friends.
Blondie in China did one with her parents while she was back home in Sidney a while back. The title wasn't goose but she did a whole series with her parents during the pandemic.
I've been to Taste of Shunde 順德味道 at Eastwood, which serve roast goose. They also have another restaurant in Hurstville under the same name. Sydney is more well known for roast ducks.
Awesome video! I watch your videos with my bf and while you are here you should definitely go to some local dim sum places, happy to take you if you want, I’m also kinda Aussie 😂
Yat Lok is better. Skin is crisp and as thin as a crystal glass shard. Super unctuous too and the plum sauce has bigger bits. Yung Kee's century egg (with the gooey yolk) with yellow mustard is award-winning
thanks for this video Janice, and where is your brother???? he is funny and it would be lovely to see him featuring more in your video haha btw any chance you would film a sunset in Hong Kong?
Last time I went to Kam's roast goose it was dry and chewy and the skin not crispy was trash and overrated tourist trap. I honestly don't know how they got a michelin star. I'm not going to lie the Kam's family roast meats is not that good anymore throughout all their branches apart from 1 place. By the way have you tried 大圍小館 for Char Siu 叉燒 so much better.
@@JaniceFung If you do decide to go try and reserve a table because the queue time can be crazy up to 2 hours. Also theres 2 versions of char siu. The dinner version is blow torched at your table before serving with a 陳皮 tangerine peel sauce.
@@JaniceFung also why not do a marinated goose platter video? it's got so many varieties of goose parts, tofu, inside a box.... plus other marinated things... octopus, egg, pork belly, pig ear, pig trotter, intestine etc.....

I like that Yum Cha Kettle just wondering where the water comes from .........
Hahah that is.. a good question
Where’s that maxim restaurant because I wanted to check out that automatic kettle while I’m in Hong Kong
it was at tuen mun town plaza

Janice, nice review as always. What is the name (and where in HK) did you get the desserts?
it is a place in Tuen Mun called 馬哥奇冰
I couldn't find an English name !

You can try using the chopsticks like a fork and turn it to wrap those hard to grip noodles around the chopsticks and eat it that way 😊
haha i'll try that next time - it was just superrr slippery
