Super late to the party but the internal bypass is at the bottom portion with the Allen plugs. They are different, you couple probably get away with swapping the plugs/bleeders but actually bleeding them would probably be a pain if it would work at all.

A guy sold me two passenger side ATS calipers "by accident". When I mentioned it to him, he apologized and said that I could return them if I wanted too. He really didn't know that they were the same side. Anyway, once I got there, he said that he spoke with a friend of his. The friend informed him that they are in fact the same. All I needed to do was move the Bleeder to the other side and it would function as normal. Sure enough, when we unscrewed both ends, the holes were the exact same, and the bleeder, also with the Allen screws fit. Go figure that!

You got lucky. The new ones GM used red lock tite on those bleeders. You can't remove them. Maybe with a torch, but it's still a gamble. Last thing you want is an internal hex bolt stripped out. Might as well pay for the correct sides if going with gm calipers. They do have copies off these calipers, which, are actually nice, I ordered a set, but ultimately sent them back and kept the GM ones. The only reason I didn't keep the oem replacement style was because it wasn't a Brembo and I would feel some type of way putting a brembo decal on a clone. These replacements versions cost $89 each and the bleeders do not have lock title on them so you can easily switch the fittings. I had both sets side by side.

They are different. If you look at rockauto and pull up the image of each side you can see that the Pistons are slightly out of center on each side. They are not perfectly centered. It's a Minor difference and I'm not sure if you would be able to feel it especially on a street car but they are different. Don't believe me, just look.

The position of the pistons are different between the sides.

Nope. They are exactly the same. Piston dimensions and piston location, does not change left to right. They are the exact same casting left to right, just assembled for left or right side, that's all.

If you look at the calipers, the location of the pistons are absolutely different from side to side. It's small amount but it's there. If you don't believe it just check rocksauto. I have both sides off the car. And I looked at rocksauto and can see on the pics too.

Yes, it’s the same on the two calipers. Reads left to right, but going to paint over it soon.

That’s what it looks like to me, begs the question why they are different in pricing.
