  • Weird History Food is giving you a warm bowl of nostalgia with the History of Campbell's Soup. Probably one of the most recognizable food designs, the Campbell's Soup can is both part of modern pop culture and in just about every American pantry. But where did the company get its start? And how has Campbell's stayed a relevant brand for over 150 years? Get some crackers and pepper ready, we're going soup to nuts on Campbell's.

I remember they had a low sodium version of the tomato soup that cost more, but if you checked the nutritional facts, it had the same amount of sodium as their regular version of the soup which was cheaper. The low sodium version was low compared to OTHER soups.

As a poor family growing up in the 80s we couldn't even afford canned food. An old next door lady one day brought us like a dozen Campbell canned soups and it was the best thing we ever tasted. I never forgot that feeling of that first canned soup or the nice jester from the lady.
Every few months especially during the cold holidays I would just have a warm bowl of canned soup even though I could make fresh soup. The best Campbells soups that I love are the chicken noodle and the Clam Chowder.

Not really fair to call out this one brand for it, when virtually every single thing we eat today involves some type of GMO.
Our food supply has way bigger concerns than that. Cancerous pesticides. Animals that don't eat their natural diet and suffer their whole lives. Obscene amounts of sugar and plant oils. Weird chemicals that make bad tasting things addictive. Weird colors that wreak havoc on the immune system.

im pretty simple, cream of tomato and chicken noodle. i do remember when i was younger cream of mushroom was a healthy staple, later on i cooked with cream of celery in a few recipes. i would take a can of chunky, add a few more things to it and that was lunch at work the next day. the only downside was my sodium intake, it was high but the flavor made it worthwhile. ive tried the low sodium versions - no thanks. i cook alot and use their soups as additional flavor. my #1 soup has to be tomato, my daughter loves it and a night with a big bowl and a couple grilled cheese sandwiches with her in front of the tv keep me hoping they never stop making it.

Hi Weird History! I LOVE Campbell's Soup, especially their chicken noodle, tomato, and cream of mushroom soups! My favorite Campbell's recipe is fried cauliflower that uses the cream of mushroom soup, and it is delicious! I hope one day you'll do a video on mascots voiced by famous actors/voice actors, as there's a lot of different mascots with famous voices. For example the 70s animated version of Jack from Jack In The Box [sadly only three ads and three comics with him are on RUclips, but I'm thankful we even have them], as well as his friends the Jack In The Box Bunch were voiced by none other then Tigger himself: Paul Winchell, who also invented the artificial heart. Frito Kid was voiced by Richard Beals who also did Speedy Alka-Seltzer and various other cartoon voices. Twinkie the Kid and the other Hostess Snack Cake characters were voiced by Allen Swift, who first started on the Howdy Doody Show, but ended up doing a huge amount of voice work for cartoons, notably Underdog, Popeye and Sesame Street sketches. I've always been interested in learning about mascots, especially if they have a famous voice actor.
