Dr. Pepper is my mother's favorite soda, has been my entire life. For her birthday the other day, we went to a local restaurant named Four Corners Bar & Grill and she had one with her meal.
Until watching this I had no idea where Dom DeLuise got the "I'm a pepper." bit. For all I knew. His imagination ran wild as he walked through a supermarket produce department.
From the corporate information website: Originally made in Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas, the drink's unique flavor was a hit when it was first sold in 1885. Wade Morrison, the drug store owner, named it "Dr. Pepper" after Dr. Charles Pepper, a Virginia doctor who was the father of a girl Morrison was once in love with. (The period after Dr was dropped in the 1950s.) There's NO pepper in Dr Pepper
Old Pepper was the top selling bourbon in the late 1800s early 1900s until prohibition. I've considered that they chose "Dr. Pepper" to mirror James E. Pepper's popular "medicinal whisky".
I'm 62. I remember the "so misunderstood" and "I'm a pepper" ads. Never thought I liked it though. Then, 2 weeks ago, I was out and being diabetic, needed to eat. McDonalds was the only place near, so I grabbed a happy meal and when I asked what they had for diet pop, the choice was diet coke or diet dr pepper. I decided to try the non coke choice. WOW. I have been drinking it ever since. Diet is delicious in the Dr Pepper family. I wish I could taste the sugar version.
Drink what you like. I actually prefer Sam's cola over Coke. While Coke is still slightly better, it has kind of a bad aftertaste that Sam's doesn't have.
When people ask "Coke or Pepsi?", my answer is always Dr Pepper. But I did have to give up caffeine and sugar to prevent long term liver damage after high liver enzyme levels caused me to have a minor heart attack, so it's been a while since I've had a soda, period.

I've been drinking diet Pepper for a long time so when I found no diet choice in a soda machine one day ,I picked regular Dr. Pepper and was amazed that it didn't taste really sugary. I could probably get used to drinking regular DP
Have you ever seen a healthy person drink diet soda? 😂 I haven’t in my lifetime anyway
I drink diet since regular has way too much sugar and I'm diabetic so it's a nice alternative when I want soda. @@TheGreyGhost_of43rd
@@TheGreyGhost_of43rd And Diet soda is arguably not much better than regular sodas.
As a regular Dr. Pepper fan who despises Diet in general, Diet DP is more tolerable than most and could only barely notice the difference.
My favorite soda….I am also in love with the strawberries and cream flavor!
You should do a food history of cheer wine. It tastes similar to Dr. Pepper.
great movie reference, Bad Channels is a classic!
Could you please cover the history of Hidden valley ranch ,i loved their commercials when i was a kid.
Love your cannel btw 😊
I think An American Werewolf in London and Dr. Pepper ads were the only two acting jobs David Naughton ever got.
My Mama June was a lifelong Dr. Pepper fan and lived longer than all my other grands, to 87. Must of been then 10 2 and 4 that kept her going.
Id like a video about Moxie. Also a video about Jolt would be interesting.
I actually made a drink called the "Dark Gamemaster", which was Dr. Pepper Dark Berry and Captain Morgan Black. It was a pretty awesome combo.
Dr Pepper and moonshine was an favourite when I was young ^^
@@Thennix Ooh…I bet that was awesome! I should try that myself.
I've done regular Dr pepper and regular Capt Morgan and it was pretty good
Just be careful where you get the shine from ^^

Dr pepper and disaronno
Ahhhhh, this takes me back to high school football games and hot Dr Pepper. And SNL skit where Gilda Radner was calling people (telemarketer style) asking them if they would like to "be a Pepper"
Man i wish soda fountains were still a common thing nowadays
*Secret? Well that's a hoot.* My grandfather mixed every Dr Pepper syrup as VP of the company in Dallas. Coca-Cola is a lemon base and Dr Pepper is an "Almond base". But I won't say the rest but some things in DP come all the way from Madagascar
I love this guys sarcastic wit.
Either a regular Dr.Pepper, a Cherry Dr.Pepper or a Pibb Xtra sounds good right now. 😋
I haven't seen a Mr. Pibb for years now. Didn't know it was still made. I do the Diet Dr Pepper or the Dr Pepper No Sugar versions. And I thought I came up with drinking hot Dr Pepper. I had no idea it had been a thing in the past. A commercial and everything! I get the craziest looks and comments whenever I suggest it. I think its great on a cold day and soothing for a scratchy sore throat.
Dr. Pepper is my mother's favorite soda, has been my entire life.
For her birthday the other day, we went to a local restaurant named Four Corners Bar & Grill and she had one with her meal.
That establishment seems like a place where one could have some good green chile
I really like this video 😺it’s awesome to learn more about things that I didn’t even know about
Absolutely love Dr Pepper! The strawberry cream one has been the best new flavor so far 🥰
Dr pepper cream soda makes an amazing float
Until watching this I had no idea where Dom DeLuise got the "I'm a pepper." bit. For all I knew. His imagination ran wild as he walked through a supermarket produce department.
From the corporate information website: Originally made in Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas, the drink's unique flavor was a hit when it was first sold in 1885. Wade Morrison, the drug store owner, named it "Dr. Pepper" after Dr. Charles Pepper, a Virginia doctor who was the father of a girl Morrison was once in love with. (The period after Dr was dropped in the 1950s.)
There's NO pepper in Dr Pepper
1:11 People from other countries often talk about how unusual American pharmacies are.
It is like the pharmacy is part of a gift store.
Dr Pepper is the inventor, the drink is Dr Pepper's Monster.
My favourite soft drink since I first tried in the late 90s in Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
My prioritized preferences:
1) Coca-cola
2) Dr Pepper
3) Mtn Dew
4) Pepsi
This stuff is liquid gold!!!😊
Origin of Vernors! Drink has been around since 1866... Is Vernors still aged in oak barrels prior to bottling?
Old Pepper was the top selling bourbon in the late 1800s early 1900s until prohibition.
I've considered that they chose "Dr. Pepper" to mirror James E. Pepper's popular "medicinal whisky".
Even though I hate DR. Pepper and Pibb for that matter, this was an interesting video. Have you done one on Moxie?
Dr. Pepper is Holy Water.... Been calling it that since I was a kid lol & I'm rapidly approaching 50.
Is the actress in the Halloween costume at around 10:43 Carol Kane (Latka Gravis’ wife in Taxi, Miracle Max’s wife in The Princess Bride)?
My favorite drink... Dr. Pepper .. regards from Panama
One of my Fav sodas of all time!!!!!🤗🤗🤗
I lost it when I saw "Emo Garth Brooks"
Today is my first day trying Dr Pepper
Asking for Dr. Pepper and getting Dr. Thunder is like asking for Eminem and getting MGK.
BURN!!
😂 Awesome 😂 and true 😂
Accept no substitutes!
Drink what you like. I actually prefer Sam's cola over Coke. While Coke is still slightly better, it has kind of a bad aftertaste that Sam's doesn't have.
How dare you say that about Dr. Thunder.
I’m not one for touristy things, but damn if the Dr. Pepper museum isn’t on my list now.
When people ask "Coke or Pepsi?", my answer is always Dr Pepper. But I did have to give up caffeine and sugar to prevent long term liver damage after high liver enzyme levels caused me to have a minor heart attack, so it's been a while since I've had a soda, period.
You can get Sugar and Caffeine free Soda nowadays.
Really want to confuse people? Often, here in Texas, people will ask, "Do you want a coke?" "Sure." "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper."
I want to see someone claim that Dr. pepper is a "pepper type beverage" with a straight face lmao.
Probably a comic book villain or antihero, Doctor Strange, Doctor Fate, Doctor Destiny, Doctor Octopus etc
DDP is the only drink needed. Had no idea how ruthless they were getting to market, now I like it even more!
DP* not Diamond Dallas Page 😂 wtf
Maybe they meant Diet Dr. Pepper? @@TheGreyGhost_of43rd
Being from NC, I would like to hear the stories about Cheerwine, Texas Pete, and livermush. Lol 😂 but I think any of those, would be very interesting. ❤
My cousin from New York had to have DP when they came to visit in the 1960's. Like Coors this side of Kansas.
Pepsi cola came to town,
coca cola shot him down,
Dr pepper fizzed him up,
Now they call him 7up 😁
... Anybody remember Dr pepper bubble gum with juice in the center?
I’m a Gen X “kid”. First introduced to Dr. Pepper with the “I’m a Pepper” campaign.
I don't know why, but for some reason my father claimed that Dr Pepper contained prune juice.
Being from Portugal (where Dr.Pepper was never available) only last year was I able to taste it when I went to the USA.
I love that people in the olden days hung around pharmacies drinking soda and taking now illegal drugs, something modern society is sorely missing
