I switched from an S22 to an S24, and truly can't tell the difference, aside from the slightly different design and tweaked image processing. Both are top notch phones, and S22 is a killer deal now!
I have the S24+ and the photo's are pretty good most of the time, but then there are the "Oh come on Samsung this looks absolutely fake and over processed" ones too. Why can't we choose our own colour profile ? Give the over processed versions to the default users and the life like, flatter tone to those who want to settings fiddle.
Both great phones but I'll go with the Samsung Galaxy S24 offers a far more powerful chipset and same length of software support as the Pixel phone. This would mean the phone should have the horsepower to manage subsequent versions of android. The camera of the Galaxy is also very capable and importantly has the telephoto lens too.
"I found the S24's ultrasonic fingerprint reader to just be a little more accurate..." Understatement of the year! I find Samsung's ultrasonic readers to be MUCH more accurate. I have tried three different Pixels - the 6, 7A and 8, and they all had the same problem - once I set up my fingerprint, after some time it starts intermittently failing to read my finger. Occasionally it's locks me out after 5 unsuccessful reads and requires me to type in my (very long) password. This is the ONLY reason I keep going back to Galaxy phones. I would prefer to use a Pixel, but the fingerprint sensor is just too frustrating, even when I register the same thumb 4 times.
Probably just grease build up preventing it from scanning your finger properly. Get some screen cleaner and a wipe and clean your phone at least once a week...
I previously had a 6 and I find the fingerprint reader on the 8 an improvement, in particular it is faster. Indeed I very rarely have any problem with it and I am using a screen protector and do not have screen protector mode on.
Finally someone gets it. I would comment on every video about the Zenfone 10 being "the last of a dying breed" and say how the Pixel, iPhone, and Galaxy were all the same size.
The 13 Mini feels huge compared to the 5/5S/SE1. But is still reasonably sized. I wish they kept making one. I'd buy one. Currently have the 13 Mini as a work-phone. I don't see any reason for a larger display for my needs.
Disagree. Yes, the Samsung has better hardware but that doesn't mean it's the better phone. You didn't really spend a lot of time talking about software, which in my opinion is what makes the pixel overall the better phone because you don't have to deal with all the extra Samsung apps and bloatware. Plus you get all of the Google Android features first before anyone else. So in my opinion that makes the pixel better than the Samsung overall.
I was using Pixel 6 Pro about 2 years and I like stock Android but now I have few months Samsung Galaxy S23 (because of Exynos in S24 in Europe) and I must say One UI is just better to use :) You have so many useful tools and almost no bloatware - some Samsung's apps (Galery, Messages, Internet browser etc.) but u can simply choose Google's native apps when the phone first starts up and no more need to worry about it in future 👍🏻
Personally, I would go for the Galaxy S24. You can simply get more done. Better hardware, better integration with Windows, more computing options with DeX, and more control over how your phone looks and operates. 1) One UI may be the most equal opportunity platform available. Google and Microsoft are both treated as first class citizens, Samsung has alternatives for folks that want neither. They don't force any of them on you. You can uninstall or disable mostly everything even core Samsung apps can be replaced by alternatives and you can set those as default. 2) The options built into the One UI is already extensive. Want more? Goodlock. It can be as minimal or maximum as you want. Just takes a bit of work.
The P8 has the better haptics (by far) and visual voicemail baked in (it's not 2004, I shouldn't have to listen through 10 voice messages to hear the most recent). Also (I remember this as I swipe), the Pixel has the more accurate predictive text.
Samsung has accurate predictive text if you're using swipe, so there no real difference there. Also, the voicemsil app on Samsung literally is in a list format for you to see the dates in descending order. I'm convinced you guys haven't actually used thr phones and just hate on Samsung 😂😂
I always preferred Pixel devices over Samsung. Samsung is just too much bloat and misses some things that Pixels are known for (QoL things like song ID on lockscreen, call screening, text spam filtering, etc.).
Bloat is such an overused word on phones today. I prefer Samsung apps. Example is Sa6msung Calendar. It's better than the Google Calendar. The Google version isn't flexible. Samsung offers flexible repeat and conditions for scheduling. For Samsung Reminders, it offers a lot more triggers than Google. Google apps are overrated and stupid. In my work flow, Google apps are the bloatware, I delete these stupid intern apps immediately.
The s24 has fully replaced my laptop. I use s24 and wireless earbuds, that's it. Hopefully they do not go any bigger in the base model. 6.2 is maximum size for ine handed use.
Funny how a 6.2” inch screen is considered “compact”. In my opinion, this size is pretty much average size in today’s day. Anything larger and it’s a tablet and anything smaller I think is considered compact. I recently picked up an iPhone 13 Mini as a second phone and that phone is truly compact. Last of its kind
Clean OS yes but running smoother is not the case anymore. Android manufacturers have come along way in since the Nexus days. I have S23 for more than a year and still silky smooth performance.

The s24 series is smoother and faster. Everything has been tested. Even the camera. Which pixel lost to the s24 series when it came to camera and performance
OnePlus are confusing users coz some models have OxygenOS yet others have ColorOS. IMO Oxygen is way better. OneUI is not quite interesting. Pixels are crispier, cleaner and have a better integration with AI
Theyre "compact" by today's standards, but 6.2inch is still too big. My Pixel 4a was a great size. 5.5 would actually be the perfect one handed phone size. Phone's getting bigger is one of the things I really dislike. Foldables will hopefully reset us on this as the first Pixel Fold illustrated. Not sure if they're going to release a standard Pixel 9 Fold, the one coming out soon is humongous.
these are not compact sizes. they are normal sizes which is ~6 inches which is most phones. the flagship phones tend to be larger at ~.7inches on their most premium models . the mini phones are ~5.5inches so if they are considered mini then these would be normal and anything 6+ would be larger. that said, i think this was a great video. if i had to choose i would pick the pixel 8 since if i am going budget, then might as well go all the budget. spending the extra money for the s24 starts bringing you down the rabbit hole of well..the 24+ is only X more...oh wait the ultra looks good too and its only Y more then the 24+..oh there is a promo for the ultra you say? and next thing you know you're buying a whole new phone that wasn't on your radar before.
You realize the body of the device itself is still pretty identical to the zenfone right? They just have smaller bezels which is why the screens exceed 6 inches.

It’s large enough to surf the web and watch casual youtube and still have a good camera. Many had a smaller screen before in the iPhone 6-8 and SE series phones. That was enough as well.
I been using Zenfone 9 for a year or so and it's trash really, full of bugs and every user of them are saying the same issues, then I bought S24 with Exynos 256GB UFS 4 edition and I could say it's a good phone but I felt off after I've used the clean android experience with the Zenfone despite the bugs it have, then I bought 2nd hand Pixel 8 and I loved it so much, it's cleaner than the Zenfone and no bugs at all and works like a charm, compared to the S24 I would go all the day with Pixel 8 from the system to the camera and the grip it self is much much better.
I am fortunate enough to have both the S24 and Pixel 8, both are fantastic. But one of the most underrated feature on the pixel 8 and keeps drawing me back to it is its vibration motor. IFKYK.
I actually liked the zoom on the pixel better. I like the colors on pixels more than Samsung's. Photos from Samsung phones always look dull and bluish to me. Plus the smear you get if your subject is moving even a little.

I love the software on pixels, the stock Android in pixels is very smooth and quick and feels natural, however the only downside and most critical is the bad hardware quality, the screen technology is far behind Samsung, thermal problems the pixel gets hot quickly, the touch screen is not very responsive like Samsungs, even holding it feels lacking in quality, the battery life is not that good. So alot of areas for the pixel to improve and wish it does. However this is coming from a Samsung user who is used to the best hardware quality, certainly Samsung beats all smartphones in hardware quality.
Nope I still prefer Pixel accurate photos. I still love my Pixel 6. The only thing I want that the 6 doesn't have is 8x optical zoom. 20x would be even better!

There are no compact flagships. Flagships, by definition, must be the top of the line from a brand. Every single company neuters their smaller phones. I have one. I’ve asked 2 people if they wanted it. One has an S9 the other and older Samsung below a galaxy level. They want Android. The 13 was my college age son and he complained about the battery because he couldn’t charge it. I cleaned the charging port and told him it charges fine now. But the battery is in the 78% and needs replacing. Has cracked flat part on the two camera side so I can’t even trade it in. I’m using an iPhone 12 and find it boring compared to my S9 that I gave my cousin. Only got the 12 to track my mother with dementia. I’ll be switching back to android later this year no matter what apple does with the new updates. RCS is another reason I’m switching so now I’ll be able to share videos and pictures with my 2 iPhone 15 kids and my wife with her XS max. The blue bubble green bubble thing doesn’t matter to grown ups. I’d take the S25 or the Pixel 9 when them come out happily. Apple treats users like they’re stupid and I understand why after observing my kids with their iPhones.
If you're over 6 foot (183 cm), then I suppose these phones are compact; they are for me. For everyone else, these aren't one handed affairs. People miss the likes of the iPhone Mini and Xperia Compact for a reason. I don't: I have an S23 Ultra, but I know people who do.
Honestly, the moment you hold the pixel 8, then the S24 with your hand, you just now that the S24 is definitely more premium. The screen of the S24 is also on a different league totally, not to mention the build quality.
Pixel 8 battery life is miles better then the galaxy I struggle to get below 50 percent battery in a day on my pixel 8 every Samsung phone I've had normally ends the day with 20 percent or less
loving my pixel 8 , just upgraded from iphone 12 and pixel 8 is really good.

I've enjoyed my Pixel6 for 3 trouble free years. I'm looking at Samsung because Google has lived, rent free, in my phone

There are no compact flagships. Flagships, by definition, must be the top of the line from a brand. Every single company neuters their smaller phones. Pixel 8 is missing a camera and several other features. Sony's compact phone is always missing a camera. iPhone has downgraded cameras from the Max.
A true compact flatship would have the following specs
At a minimum, 3 cameras, each of which being industry-leading or nearly industry-leading
The latest available professor.
1080p 120hz high brightness LTPO display
6.0 display size
Minimum 12gb RAM
Minimum 256gb storage
Minimum 5,000 mAh battery

I have one. I’ve asked 2 people if they wanted it. One has an S9 the other and older Samsung below a galaxy level. They want Android. The 13 was my college age son and he complained about the battery because he couldn’t charge it. I cleaned the charging port and told him it charges fine now. But the battery is in the 78% and needs replacing. Has cracked flat part on the two camera side so I can’t even trade it in. I’m using an iPhone 12 and find it boring compared to my S9 that I gave my cousin. Only got the 12 to track my mother with dementia. I’ll be switching back to android later this year no matter what apple does with the new updates. RCS is another reason I’m switching so now I’ll be able to share videos and pictures with my 2 iPhone 15 kids and my wife with her XS max. The blue bubble green bubble thing doesn’t matter to grown ups. I’d take the S25 or the Pixel 9 when them come out happily. Apple treats users like they’re stupid and I understand why after observing my kids with their iPhones.

If you're over 6 foot (183 cm), then I suppose these phones are compact; they are for me. For everyone else, these aren't one handed affairs. People miss the likes of the iPhone Mini and Xperia Compact for a reason. I don't: I have an S23 Ultra, but I know people who do.

Honestly, the moment you hold the pixel 8, then the S24 with your hand, you just now that the S24 is definitely more premium. The screen of the S24 is also on a different league totally, not to mention the build quality.

Pixel 8 battery life is miles better then the galaxy I struggle to get below 50 percent battery in a day on my pixel 8 every Samsung phone I've had normally ends the day with 20 percent or less
