La Soirée du hockey (Radio-Canada)
That year, all six teams in the East had over .500 records. This was Gordie Howe’s most productive season in his NHL career.
An indication of the failure of the expansion project, which created six minor league caliber teams.
Amazing to see how young Rogie Vachon is here. Great footage! Thanks for posting
8:15-Peter Mahovlich #11 would be traded to the Canadiens in 1970 and a year later would be joined by his brother Frank #27 and play several years together with the Habs.
If ever you could get your hands on the Hab’s game of December 28, 1969, Terry Sawchuk’s 40th birthday. Une partie inoubliable mais oubliée.
I was 8 years old then, just started hockey, Boston kid, but I loved watching the flower, they had great playoffs with Boston some years.
Hockey today is too violent and crushing. So great to see many hall of famers in their primes. I miss the teams and styles of that era. No ads on boards, no helmets, no teeth!
And the puck would usually stay in those excellently designed Art Ross nets.
Quite sad I'd rather watch this than the commercialised game today
Yup, and no on-line betting ads to be seen, clean boards too!
More enjoyable than today’s game. More flow with plenty of exciting action at each end.
Welcome back xtHabs789, I missed you!
That opening theme I remember till the day I die.
This was one of the first games in which it was heard.
This would be the first game after the renovation of the Forum in 1968 that brought the capacity up to 18,000.
Do you have the Habs vs Kings Stanley cup final preview from December 1992?
Why cant they post the whole game!!!!!!
Detroit has a lot of ex Leafs Big M, Douglas,Stemkowski, Baun, Ungar , Sawchuk . The Curse of Frank Mahovlich is still with the Maple Leafs
The Mahovlich trade was the worst trade in Leafs history. Unger and Stemkowski played as great players for yrs afterwards. Leafs would slso trade Jim Pappin for a half yr of washed up Pierre Pilote. So many horrible trades by Imlach ruined the Leafs for years.
@@als.8690 yes it was
No helmets, fighting, beards, facemasks or billboard advertising. Those were the days, my friend.
Why cant they post the whole game for crip.sakes°°
The best team ever classy and all around 😅
Wouldn't it have been nice to have kept a colour videotape of this and other games played that season. Would be amazing to see how the games looked as they were broadcast.
Cool
