Hello Deal Unboxing. I bought the MK63 (1 router and 2 satellites) and even with ethernet wired backhaul, have large speed drops. Is there a Netgear setting I need to adjust to 'enable' wired backhaul? Thank you. mike
Great detail review as always. Finally budget friendly WiFi 6 Mesh. Interesting thing you mentioned about Backhaul connection speed limited to 50MB/s. I agree that is little on the low side.
@@DealUnboxing if the backhaul is limited to 50 megs that mean anything connected to a satellite will get 50 megs max correct? I have a 200 meg connection but I'd only get 50 mega connected to a satellite of I'm understanding correctly
I’ve had absolutely abysmal connectivity from this system. Consistent but intermittent self assigned IP addresses and *terrible* connectivity ~15ft from the satellite. I’ve tried adding a third mode as well. 2,800 sqft house with a gigabit connection - and it’s reported as such by the modem in the web tool. I even bought a separate pair and tried to configure an additional satellite. It’s. So. Bad. Worse? I’ve called Netgear 3x and got hung up on each time after explaining the issue. Can’t wait to return and replace this system.
I’m new into mesh WiFi. I have 3 kids that all access the internet via laptops, tablets, & PS4. Me and my wife both use the internet but mainly from our phones (RUclips, call of duty mobile, and basic streaming). The reason I started looking into better internet is because I’ve been getting into “smart home” and slowly have been upgrading the house along with the Ring cameras and doorbell that all need to access the internet but now are getting father and father from our router, you can also tell which devices don’t get the best reception if that’s what it’s called lol. I had previously been looking into the eero pro and some eero beacons maybe. Are you familiarity this system and which would you recommend?
Yeah i am familiar with eero products. If you don;t have WiFi 6 devices and have some budget restrains then i would recommend Netgear Orbi AC3000 (checkout the reviews). Or budget is not the issue then checkout Orbi 6 and Linksys 6 and Asus ZenWiFi AX mesh reviews on the channel, they are more powerful with better wifi range. Let me know anymore questions.
We have a ranking video on our channel if you want to check it out. I never reviewed Deco X20, but reviews x60. Netgear gives you more options to play with in the management console. Please checkout Deco X60 review on the channel as well.
I currently have this system and I am taking it back. When I'm right up on the main node I can get 500MBps. Which is great yes. But, as soon as I walk on the other side of the wall, speed drops by half. I've had two disconnects and some devices will not even see the signal for some reason. I'm a tech guy and this thing is awful. It's not plug and play like it should be. Range is 3000sqft total. Each node outputs 1500 sqft which I can confirm, but the speeds are awful once you are 20 feet away and I only have a 2 story house. My old wifi 5 N based wifi had much better range than this thing. Look elsewhere.
@@DealUnboxing yes, latest firmware. I'm switching to the eero pros. Wifi 6 systems have a long way to go imo. I'm starting to see why eero and Google haven't released their versions yet.

@@docrobert9 I ended up with the Asus AX11000 non mesh router. It covers even more distance than all the mesh systems I tried. I tried a ton lol. On wifi 6 I can hit 1gbps. So far so good.
Do both cubes together cover 3000 square feet or just one cube? Currently I have my cable modem/router from the cable company and a Netgear extender to get tv in my detached garage. This system should give me better coverage and speeds right? I have an iPhone X and it sucks on my extender.
Hello, can you set them to bridge mode while keeping the mesh functionality? I have my own router, I would like these just for the WiFi without making a double NAT.
i understand modem and wireless router.. 2 parts to work to get internet ..wifi 5 by netgear is both, SO can anyone explain if this wifi 6 unit needs other products in order to be a both router and modem? my home is small and we only use cell phones and a firestick.
Hi, I'm looking into getting a wifi 6 Mesh system. Do you recommend this or the orbi? Thanks. I will be getting the 3 pack of which ever you suggest is better. Thanks
A file transfer speed of 50MBs is equal to 400Mbs. Mbs is how rates are most often described with these types of devices. What data transfer rate would you have expected, and been satisfied with, from this mesh network? Obviously the 1.8Gbs bandwidth that Netgear is touting, is an aggregate of multiple channels.
True. The 50MB is the backhaul speed test result. 1.8Gbps is total bandwidth combining 2.4Ghz + 5Ghz bands. Appreciate the Feedback. Please don't forget to Sub + like + Watch other reviews and share.
My R7000 just died so even if this is not excellent is by far a great improvement! My question is... can the satellite be wired? Or is restricted to WiFi signal only?
Do you know what the bandwidth is? Usually routers have 20/40/80 and some now 160 Mhz that allow faster speeds per connection. Hoping this has 160 Mhz also.
It says up to 100mbps speeds. Currently getting more than that now so will this be a downgrade? Also i have a man cave at the bottom of the garden which is 25ft away from the house. If i put one in there would it make the wifi faster?
I'm thinking of the netgear Nighawk MK62 or the TP-Link x20. I've read some bad reviews about the nighthawk...some software problem and that it lost connection occasionally to other units. For exampel wifi lightbulbs. Have you noticed anything like that?
Nope. But i cannot say anything about others experience. It could be compatibility issue, etc. Also these units are new and newer firmware updates will help improve the experience and fix issues. Appreciate the Feedback. Please don't forget to Sub + Like + Watch other reviews and share.

Hi Deal Unboxing, I am living in a 3 story house with a concrete built wall, with 700m2 on every floor, will this MK62 able to connect each other on each floor through the wall ? Many thanks! Edwin
Great review, thanks for sharing. Looks like a really easy setup and strong WiFi throughout the house. Remember, that 50MB/S = 400mb/s, so the backhaul looks like it was getting at least 400mb/s. What was the total transfer time for the 5.5GB (44gb) file? I'm guessing 2 minutes?
Thanks for the feedback. WiFi 5 Backhaul was dedicated 5Ghz Channel @ 1733Mbps and in real test we achieved 50MB/s, and WiFi 6 backhaul supposedly be 5Ghz Channel @ 2400Mbps, and with Orbi WiFi 6 & Linksys Velop 6 (please checkout that review on our channel) we were able to achieve 80-90MB/s. So by that standard Nighthawk is slow, but there is no clear documentation what speed of WiFi 6 Backhaul being used in Nighthawk WiFi 6 Mesh system.
you are saying that you are getting ~50 Mbps for the blackhaul test... it is not 50 mbps... it is 50 MBps.. which is like 400mbps... not bad... but still 866 is the promised speed.
in your opnion, what's the best mesh system for 1 gig internet and 4,500-5,000 sq ft house? I currently get 600-650 download on my iPhone 11 near router, wondering if any mesh system would achieve this while being near the router? If so, please mention the top mesh system (s)

The MK62 are as good as other AX-units. BUT - which is the real issue / hurdle / problem - in the practical world [beyond wifi-speed testing]: 1) some IOT-products will NOT work with AX. [and can NOT be firmware-upgraded!]. 2) Many Windows-Laptops, get lower speed (here in 2023!) with AX than with AC! [for instance units with the Intel AX201 wifi-card!]. ---- 2) The "lower speed", elaborated: For instance our Asus-B1500-Expertbook (i5, 16GB RAM, SSD, Windows-10): Which displays this: - with AX: appr. 30 MB/s. - with AC: appr. 40 MB/s. [and I have seen even bigger differences ... where AC had appr. 80MB/s and AX only 35MB/s (appr.)] [all tested with an "Asus RT-AX56U" AX-router ... with ALL stuff updated (windows, drivers, router-firmware)!]. --- 1+2) Elaborated: I have therefore come to dislike the AX-standard. AND: AX has ended as "DISABLED" opu our wifi-system !! [making it an expensive wifi-AC-system!!]. - The lightstrip-part: Our "chinese" light-strips, does NOT work, with AX. And the lightstrips was mounted already on more rooms ... making it a big hazzle and cost to exchange... - plus: WHY ON EARTH "should we use AX", when AC is faster for us!!! on our Windows-Laptops, which are THE ONLY clients, where we neeed the high claimed AX-speeds. - I have tried different settings, in our routers... (in AP roaming-assistent mode) - to no avail! - my conclusion: IF you only have got mobile-phones and Laptops - then go for AX (and accept that your windows-units might act strange / have low speed). - choose AX to save a bit of battery... - but, if you have got lightstrips etc, then be carefull! ... or get AX-units and do the testing! (and return the AX-system, if you have the same problem as we have). --- The MK62 : MK62 fares well - generally - but due to AX-changes, one's old IOT-products does NOT work with AX (such as our advanced "RGB-IC" Lightstrips, which is produced in China in 2020!!, so: they are NOT old IOT stuff - and they work 100% stable with wifi-AC!). Conclusion: - MK62 is a versatile AX-solution. IF you can get it cheap, then why not buy it. - BUT: There is no reason to upgrade your good AC-system, as a home-user. - And the IOT power-saving "AX stuff": You will need firmware-upgrading (which many IOT-products does NOT support!). - SO, the AX / Wifi-6 standard is to me a bugger - that should have been better implemented ... in order to make it a backwards compatible standard - and not what it is!
Wow alot of detail feedback. Yeah WiFi 6 AX is more than enough for every household. Yup majority of the IOT devices are still using 2.4G, which is fine because i have them all on 2.4G channel, and using my 5G and 6G for Streaming and Gaming.
@@DealUnboxing Problem is, as I have explsined, that many IOTs WILL NOT WORK, with AX - even when 2,4GHz IS enabled. As you might know, AX also messes with 2,4GHz ... hence "574Mb/s with AX units - typically specified (vs. 300Mb/s).
@@DealUnboxing I don't think, that you have read my in-depth comment. What I wrote, was that WIFI 6/AX IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH SEVERAL IOT PRODUCTS. And, THAT 2,4G and 5G can NOT be seen isolated. With AX enabled - then 2,4G is ALSO ruined/changed. Making several 2,4G IOT-products NOT WORKING! [you might have seen the AX-influence, in typ. 2,4GHz specifications ... for instance the MK62-set with 574Mb/s vs. 300Mb/s typ. (both at 2,4GHz) for AC/N-networking] I suspect, that you haven't been into more than unpacking, and the basics, of networking
@@Vores-Faelles14 I read all your detail. I was referring to WiFi 6 in General not this particular device. The more expensive models let's you isolate 2.4G, 5G and 6G band separately. I'm looking at these. I've just moved to Virgin FFTP and a 500Mbps connection. I've got a Netgear R7000 router which i have been using, but i'm currently connecting direct to the virgin hub/router via wifi. I'm getting approx 200Mbps connection via wifi and about 230Mbps via the R7000 (both tested from the furthest point away). Is this going to be worth the extra investment? I like the idea of a mesh system and the stability, but is Wifi6 going to offer me much more than i'm already getting? Thanks
Yeah Backhaul speed test was little surprising. I was thinking it should be faster than older Orbi AC300, but it is not the case.
@@DealUnboxing not even worth buying on any connection over 50megs

I have nighthawk r6400v2. Will it be connected to it wirelessly.

Let me know anymore questions.
can you connect more of the routers? and can we also have different SSID and password on each specific one?
just add an extender by netgear. some use the same SSID.
Thanks for this review. Very informative! Which one would you recommend this one or the TP-Link Deco X20?
We have a ranking video on our channel if you want to check it out. I never reviewed Deco X20, but reviews x60. Netgear gives you more options to play with in the management console. Please checkout Deco X60 review on the channel as well.
wich one did you get?

Do you know what the bandwidth is? Usually routers have 20/40/80 and some now 160 Mhz that allow faster speeds per connection. Hoping this has 160 Mhz also.
Please checkout the Setup Section of the Video. If i remember correctly it does not support 160Mhz.
what wifi speed are you paying for?
It says up to 100mbps speeds. Currently getting more than that now so will this be a downgrade? Also i have a man cave at the bottom of the garden which is 25ft away from the house. If i put one in there would it make the wifi faster?
You don't have to put the 2nd unit 25ft away from the house. Just place 2nd unit towards the man cave and see if signal reaches out there.
I'm thinking of the netgear Nighawk MK62 or the TP-Link x20. I've read some bad reviews about the nighthawk...some software problem and that it lost connection occasionally to other units. For exampel wifi lightbulbs. Have you noticed anything like that?

Hi Deal Unboxing,
I am living in a 3 story house with a concrete built wall, with 700m2 on every floor, will this MK62 able to connect each other on each floor through the wall ?
Many thanks!

700 Sqft on each floor, yeah i don't see why it would be a problem.
@@DealUnboxing thanks for the reply !

I just purchased it and now I can finally play on my room. With my previous wifi N system I only received 2mbps on my room and it was impossible to play with such speeds. Now I receive full internet speed on my room at a very low latency (72 ms). So far I'm very happy with my purchase.
So right now I’m using an cat5e cable into my Xbox One X. Is this any faster? I don’t see any spots for wired connections.
Cat5e is good enough upto 1Gig speed. You should be getting good internet speed, when you plug the cable into the LAN port on the satellite.
Do you need wifi for this to work or is it like wifi it’s self
Yes it is Wifi 6 Router Mesh system
iPhone XS Max is a WiFi 5 device...
The MK62 are as good as other AX-units.
BUT - which is the real issue / hurdle / problem - in the practical world [beyond wifi-speed testing]:
1) some IOT-products will NOT work with AX. [and can NOT be firmware-upgraded!].
2) Many Windows-Laptops, get lower speed (here in 2023!) with AX than with AC! [for instance units with the Intel AX201 wifi-card!].
----
2) The "lower speed", elaborated:
For instance our Asus-B1500-Expertbook (i5, 16GB RAM, SSD, Windows-10):
Which displays this:
- with AX: appr. 30 MB/s.
- with AC: appr. 40 MB/s.
[and I have seen even bigger differences ... where AC had appr. 80MB/s and AX only 35MB/s (appr.)]
[all tested with an "Asus RT-AX56U" AX-router ... with ALL stuff updated (windows, drivers, router-firmware)!].
---
1+2) Elaborated:
I have therefore come to dislike the AX-standard.
---
The MK62 :
MK62 fares well - generally - but due to AX-changes, one's old IOT-products does NOT work with AX (such as our advanced "RGB-IC" Lightstrips, which is produced in China in 2020!!, so: they are NOT old IOT stuff - and they work 100% stable with wifi-AC!).
Conclusion:
- MK62 is a versatile AX-solution.
@@DealUnboxing
Problem is, as I have explsined, that many IOTs WILL NOT WORK, with AX - even when 2,4GHz IS enabled.
As you might know, AX also messes with 2,4GHz ... hence "574Mb/s with AX units - typically specified (vs. 300Mb/s).
@@DealUnboxing
I don't think, that you have read my in-depth comment.
(both at 2,4GHz) for AC/N-networking]
I suspect, that you haven't been into more than unpacking, and the basics, of networking
@@Vores-Faelles14 I read all your detail. I was referring to WiFi 6 in General not this particular device. The more expensive models let's you isolate 2.4G, 5G and 6G band separately. Which brand and model do you use?
And which IOT of yours did NOT work before you did "isolate" / create more modes in the same Roiter/mesh-unit?
