I’ve definitely used it quite a bit since it does more damage than the AR. The only time I ever use it now is when I want to goof off with the riot shield
@@the_backburner The meta right now is basically anything that lets you ignore game mechanics railgun (ignore knowing what armor enemy has and what tool to use) shield (ignore stuns and CCs so you don't have to have good positioning) breaker shotgun (ignore aiming) orbital rail cannon (ignore aiming with your stratagems like with precision strike or rocket barrage) orbital laser (literally fire and forget)
honestly my fav primary in the game. while definitely not the most accurate, it definitely has the capabilities to pick off weaker targets at range if you pace your shots and account for bullet travel. I find it more versatile than the breaker tbh because of this but also just more fun in general since it also isn't the "meta". Now just need a silenced variant for that true odst feel lol
IMO it's more of a weapon made for "Inflitrator" Loadouts. For when you want to be fast and have a high damage gun that's still somewhat accurate on short-medium range.
One of my favorite things about the gun is that it's 1-handed, which let's you fire it while still in a sprint, unlike 2-handed guns, which put u in a slow walk. Not to mention the dolphin dive looks sick firing with the gun.
The ability to continue firing while having a decent movement speed is actually great. I have found after getting used to hipfire it can really clean up and do some work.
Gotta say i disagree with some of these points. The SMG is spooky accurate especially on the semiauto fire mode. You can absolutely snipe targets. Not as easily as a diligence, but its not supposed to compete in that department. Paired with the ballistic shield and its a super solid early mid game build against the bots. It suffers against the bugs due to the vast number, shallow mags than the auto and the stopping power of the shotguns. Thats not as bad into the bots.
Felt like half the review is missing; There was no mention of the advantages of being a one handed weapon - firing whilst running away, synergy with ballistic shield, allows primary weapon use when lugging mission objects around the map, such as the data drives.
I do talk about using the weapon one handed in the video. But also keep in mind, that I had not unlocked the ballistic shield just yet. But yes, it is very useful!
It’s hard for me to say. They’re both great, I find them totally suitable for bugs and bots alike. The defender is a really consistent weapon, but the breaker just pushes out so much damage so fast. Gets a stalker off of you in seconds. I’ve been bouncing between those two and the Jar-5 dominator explosive weapon. It has great damage but some crazy recoil, if you take the time to be precise and/or crouch it’s pretty great. Also fantastic against bots because it can blow up tanks, mortars, cannons, etc. which is sweet for a primary.
the defender is pointless as long as the Liberator exists. Why give up dmg, range and versatility for a handful of specific scenarios where other better options already exist?
The defender does 70 damage vs the liberator only does 55 damage. So it is actually better in close range like when you fight the terminids. And you can use it one hand too.
defender lets you run while shooting, making it the best option for dealing with groups of hunters on your ass. i specifically run it to counter hunters.

I actually just got the riot shield and really enjoy using these two together. It’s nice to play a game and not be enslaved to a “meta”.

this is one of the first must-have guns
