Hours of searching online with no real solution. Less than a minute on youtube and now i know how.. 5 more minutes and it's fixed. Thanks RW. For everyone else my set screw was a 3/32" allen.
The 3/32” what is the single most important piece of information that I could’ve found. Thank you so much. And then I saw it in the title. Lol. Importantly though, the angle of insertion of the Allen wrench is not vertically upward. It’s at a 10 degree towards the faucet
Easier with tool (long plastic tool for tightening nut comes with similar faucet) tightening black bolt/nut in middle after removing with 3/32 Allen wrench does job. Multiple Moen faucet failures in newish house, so had tub fixture with tool provided. Tool just tightens nut, plastic hollow grew tube with different nut size on each end. But these videos got me started, thanks!!
Super helpful. The other videos just showed me how to tighten/loosen the set screw, but I quickly realized that wasn't the issue. Glad I'd stumbled upon your video initially and knew there were other steps.
My brass piece was moving in and out used a small flat blade screw driver to tighten that ring inside just like you did. Fixed the sloppy handle. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much for your video. I was able to figure out how to fix mine, thanks to you! I had to rotate that metal ring with the teeth just like you did. The other videos didn't show about that metal ring so thank you so much.
By chance has anyone ever came up with a way to prevent this from coming loose or even contact moen regarding this? I feel I have to tighten ours every few months. And thank you for your video, it did help!
I wasted 1.5 hours trying to tighten with Allens and could not tighten. Used the TORX T10 (3/32", or 2.74mm) and tightened the screw in 2 seconds. Handle is fixed! Use the star!!!
This is the exact faucet I have but it is not the problem. Everything is tight but when I screw the handle back on it is still loose. It is just the handle that is loose even with the set screw tightened.
Sorry. I don’t check this often. Did you figure it out? With Allen screw loosened it the handle should come right off so not sure. Maybe you have some calcium build up? Use CLR? Or maybe just tap it (on different sides) with something that won’t damage the finish. The cover won’t come off until you have the handle off.
Very useful video! However, I havent been able to remove my handle. I'd like to see how you inserted the Allen wrench - and which size you used. I have a combo set of Allen wrenches (on one tool) and so far haven't found one that fits... or gets any traction.
Thank you for this video! Question though - do you (or anyone) know what/if there IS a special tool for that retainer nut??? Doing this every month... I bet i'm not getting it tight enough so maybe if there was a special tool I could get it tighter with less frequent issues... thank you!
No I don't. I had to redo mine a month ago. So the fix worked for a year. When I did it again, I just tried to crank it tighter. Hopefully I won't have to do it again. If I do, maybe I will throw some Loctite on it if I can remove the ring. And assuming it is metal on metal threads Loctite is not friendly with plastic.
Thanks for the video, helped fix my faucet. Would have been great to see how you took the handle off with the Allen wrench but had some help to figure it out - a mirror and flashlight helped illuminate where it goes 😀👍
Your welcome. ...I do show the allen access hole, but maybe I will add to the video (assuming that is easy). It is tricky to get the allen in there. Kind of a strange angle...and blind...good idea on the mirror and flashlight.
Not sure if you are still looking at the comments here. Thank you for your video, this was very helpful. My faucet does this as well. I've tried doing what you did here and that part was tight. I also tightened the set screw, but the handle is still loose. Any suggestions on what else could be wrong?
Not sure if you ever got yours fixed but my faucet was a little different. I didn't use the knife to tighten, I used pliers (or a wrench) to turn the black hexagon piece tighter and it fixed the leak. Here is a screenshot: www.screencast.com/t/NOQ8QoD4VYF
I assume you got this figured out by now. There is a set screw that is accessed on the bottom of the handle. You have to pop the plastic cap off to get access to the screw head. The allen wrench (3/32) needs to go in at a slight (strange) angle. So just losen that and the handle can be pulled off. I show a view of the access hole for the set screw right at the end of the video.
I have had to tighten that "ring nut" inside the faucet like you have here every few months. I have been using a small screwdriver to do my best to tighten it. Anyone know of a proper tool that might be available to really snug this thing up for a long term fix?
I was able to get the handle off, but can't turn the brass ring, even while exerting considerable force with a kitchen knife. Any other ideas on how to tighten it?
Actually, all I needed to do was tighten up the screw (not sure that's the right word) in the handle with a 3/32nd allen wrench; I was able to tighten it up without moving the brass ring around. I must I have a different model faucet from this one (the handle is a bit different than the one in the video). Regardless, thanks for the help.
Literally everyone including the manufacturer installs this wrong. The handle should face the front. 10x easier to use and shut off without touching the handle. When it's facing the side, you have very unnatural gestures to turn it on or off and your wet hands drip on the counter. With it facing forward, you can shut it off by hitting it with the back of your wrist in a split second.

Perfect fix!! My handle was tight but the innerds weren't. Wouldn't have been able to repair this without your video. Great job!!! Thanks!!!

Exactly what I needed. I disassembled the entire faucet trying to tighten this down but missed this part. Thanks for uploading
Outstanding! Thanks. I had taken the faucet apart, but I didn't know that the trim cover came off. Thanks a lot for your help.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. This was driving me crazy and I couldn’t figure out what was loose.
I was ready to go in deep and take things apart thinking think this wouldn't be on the Tube. Thank goodness I checked for the simple fix!!!
Exactly what I needed. Tightened my handle in 5 minutes. Thank you!!
Thank you so much!! I couldn’t figure it for the life of me and once I watched your video boom fixed. Thank you a million!
This was my exact problem with my loose faucet handle. Thank you very much for this video!
Thanks for this video and your part 2. Finding a video that illustrated my issue was impossible until I found this. 👏
Just the title helped! All I needed to know was the set screw hex size. Thanks!

This video really helped me to easily fix my sink today. Thanks!
My handle don’t jiggle jiggle. Sink flows. That brass ring inside was crazy loose. Now it’s good as new. Thanks!
I know that song…ha ha…funny!
Thank you so much for this. You just saved me 400 as my wife was telling me to "just buy" a new faucet lol
Moen sent me a new handle valve but it was exactly what you pointed out. Just a loose retainer nut. Thank you
THANKS! Watched a bunch of videos before I found yours. I probably would have stripped the nut left to my own devices.
Same problem here at home. This video just saved me so much trouble! THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much for this fix! Simple but I never would have known how.
Perfect. Just what I was looking for. Tightening the set screw didn't do anything. Thanks!
Danny, thanks very much.Have yourself a safe and happy holiday.
Dude, thank you so much, would of never knew to tighten that inner ring. Ace!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing. I fixed same problem after watching your video.
This is a great video you did. My Moen is tight once again. Thank you!!!
Thanks so much! Finally- a solution that was easy and correct!! 😅🎉
Thank you sir! The brass ring was the problem on mine also!
Thanks so much for this video. You saved me money and aggravation .
Thank you, an easy simple fix that worked out great.
Outstanding! My faucet is now fixed.
By chance has anyone ever came up with a way to prevent this from coming loose or even contact moen regarding this? I feel I have to tighten ours every few months. And thank you for your video, it did help!
Same.... still searching for a tool to really tighten this on.
Thank you! So helpful !
Thank you! Thought the handle was broken. My faucet just needed the set screw tightened.
Super helpful! Thanks!!
Awesome video. Really helpful. thanks so much!
Thank you this helped me so much!
Thank you for this video! Finally able to tighten the handle.
This was great advice! It was a easy as you said! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

perfect video. I appreciate it, i was able to fix the problem
Just what I needed. Thanks
Thank You so much for the great help!
It works! TY sir!
PERFECT! All the other videos were on fixing the base. Wish the wife would be a bit easier on it.
Ha Ha!!
Thank You
Perfect. Thank you.
Saved my day, thank you!
This is the exact faucet I have but it is not the problem. Everything is tight but when I screw the handle back on it is still loose. It is just the handle that is loose even with the set screw tightened.
Thanks for this! Just fixed mine.
5 stars!!!!! Worked great.
God bless this man
Worked perfectly.. thanks!
Thanks for this. I removed the Allen screw entirely but the handle nor the cover will come off. I feel I’ll break it if I try too hard. Any tips?

Internet gold... Fixed in two minutes..

3/32”. I did a second video that actually talks about the angle the Allen wrench goes in. Maybe you figured it out. I don’t check comments often.

@@rwrindy2 thanks for the reply!
How can you tell when the 3/32 is seated in the hex hole? I just seem to be spinning.
But how did he/you get the cap off? Tia 😮
Thanks for the video, helped fix my faucet. Would have been great to see how you took the handle off with the Allen wrench but had some help to figure it out - a mirror and flashlight helped illuminate where it goes 😀👍

What if the lil hulled to tighten is in other side of where the Allen goes?
Allen screw was so tight on there can't get it to turn and might have stripped the screw. Don't know what to do now

I just posted a second video. The stupid handle loosened up a third time. I actually did the video months ago. The fix has been solid so far.
How did you get the handle off? I can’t get the freaking thing off!!!!!

Good video, but I can't get the handle set screw to budge either way, won't tighten, won't loosen. Even twisted my allen wrench.
Yikes. Not sure. Check out my second video to make sure you have the Allen wrench in right. It’s not an intuitive angle.
I was able to get the handle off, but can't turn the brass ring, even while exerting considerable force with a kitchen knife. Any other ideas on how to tighten it?

How did you get at the screw?
see answer to Walter Brown
That’s it.
Are you sure this is a Moen? Delta makes an identical faucet.

I swear to god you tube had made lot of pple lose customer out of biZness due fixing things on own
seriously man??? Why don't you show how to screw the damned handle back on
This literally showed me nothing
Thanks for taking the time to post this comment. It literally tells me nothing.
Thank you
Thank you!!
