- In this video I try out the Kutzall Shaping Discs. These discs are designed to work on a angle grinder to carve into wood.

Hey, there are two series of kutzall dishes - "original" and "extreme". They have differently shaped "teeth" and each of them is available in coarse, medium and fine as well as in a flat or rounded shape.
You have compared the "extreme-coarse" to the "original-fine".
Therefore the "fine" leaves a rougher surface than the "coarse" and it somehow makes sense again...
🤪😉
Best wishes! 🤗
Ive looking for an answer to this for ages lol as they look the same. Cheers
Helpful Video.. Thanks. You could have done more tests (besides only the one edge of the board). By using the Grinder at different angles on a wider plank... And that music was annoying and unnecessary!... Viewers who watch "Tool Videos/ Reviews", don't mind the sound of tools at work..
I am going to buy the dewalt DWE4257-QS grinder, and I am going to buy several discs the 4-1⁄2 "(4.500 in) diameter x 7⁄8" (0.874 in) diameter Kutzall discs. These are worth for this machine
Pine has to much irregularity in the grain. As you progressed to the fine, the grained opened up, leaving that punking result. But over all I like these and might have to give them a go for some furniture shaping. Thank you for th evideo
Thank you forthe video. Can I skip the middle coarse disk and use the original extreme with original smooth only?
Yes, you can start with the smooth disc.
Just a note but, you are not comparing apples to apples here. One is the Dish version and one is the Disk version. Each version has a different cutting profile (look at it on edge) for different purposes. Each version is available in extreme or original cutting surfaces and ranges from very course to fine. A LOT of difference in the two you are comparing here.
Yes, one is a dish and one is a disc. I was just showing what you get, how they look and cut. Depending on what the person is wanting to cut they may want one or the other. And from there they can pick the grit.
Thanks for checking us out Always Tinkering!
@@DakotaBusy Oh yes of course and thank you for posting your video.
Disc versus dish. The dish is better for convex and concave surfaces. The disc is for flat surfaces. It looks like.
Watch in 2x speed. You are welcome.
Why are you using that loud music ? It's distracting and not necessary...
I've been woodworking for 40 years and I'm still afraid of these angle grinder carving blades.
I was a little as well. Now I’ve been using them on some of my wavey wood flags I make. They do work great. They make a lot of saw dust, but that’s just man glitter. 😀
No music and test on hard end grain wood. Anything will cut pine. A test on a narrow edge timber is not much of a test.
Next time apply a little more pressure....not an accurate presentation. I hope the product works better than what you shown.
Yeah, it was my first time using a carving disc. Now I would have no problem hammering on them. I plan on making a video using them more aggressively.
@@DakotaBusy looking forward to the new video.
Bullshit, you did not press down on any of the wheels.
They do work good. I’ve used them on several projects. I mainly bought them to help when I make wavey wood flags. I’ve never pushed hard onto the wood when using them.. I let the tool do the work.
How about actually taking a nominal bite outta the wood? Instead of your tender sweeps?
