    Thanks for this. Just finished up a 23' 890 Adventure. A few notes which may be 23' specific. If you are re-using the original bolt that held the cat on to secure the mid pipe it's 15 Nm. The shift rod bolt is 10 Nm. The 3 T-45 for the footrest bracket side stand all need loctite. I wasn't able to get to the right side cat bolt behind the brake lever with a ratchet and socket and had to use a 10mm open end ratchet.

    Just did 500 miles with my arrow and put my akro baffle back in. Instantly relieved my ears. Sounds dope with a straight system, but when you have a long trip or several days ahead, it still sounds good and keep the twin drone a bit. Stock muffler probably is great on the ears and still sounds cool.
    I agree, heat is way down. Keeps excess heat off the rear shock too, which has been known to fail early from CAT heat.

      Appreciate the insight, Jordan! Realize the stock muffler doesn't sound "as" good but I'm a cheap bastard 😂 Another good point on the car and shock failure which is why I wanted to get out in front of it.

    • @2WR
      @2WR  Год назад

      As with any modification (in the US) the warranty is only voided if the modification can be shown to have caused the problem. e.g. if the tft display dies they have to fix it because the mid pipe didn’t cause that. It’s only a year warranty on the bike and mine was already out anyway

    I have owned other bikes with a cat in the pipe and simply drilled the cat out using spade bits. On another bike I simply cut open a window on the side of the pipe and removed the cat. Then rewelded the piece back. Any reason no one does this with these bikes? If the pipes are stainless than I understand that takes a different welder.

    • @TapleyBS
      @TapleyBS Год назад +2

      1. drilling out the cat means you can never restore the bike if needed.
      2. Arrow mid pipe weighs several kGs less than the cat, and it’s smaller which creates more space between shock and pipe
      3. Few people can weld or have access to welding gear.
      4. Arrow mid pipe looks professional grade. A cut out and welded cat won’t

    • @ridemfast7625
      @ridemfast7625 Год назад

      @@TapleyBS Makes sense and good enough reasons for most. For me:
      1) The cut can easily be located in an area not visible, its just a small window.
      Also, the pipes I cut have heat shields, can not see the welds.
      2) A couple pounds in weight savings on a ~500 lb bike when gps, bags, tools... are added can be accomplished with rider losing some weight. lol No one will notice a couple pounds low on the bike anyway. The 890 weighs 12 lbs more than the 790 and no one ever mentions it.
      3) Pipe heat shield to protect the shock would be better and are cheap.
      4) $400 savings, I'd rather remove. But hey, I'm cheap and a diy'er.

All is good, no leaks at all… But one thing I wasn’t clear on is the tab on the mid pipe and how it attaches to the small frame tab that comes down. It puts no added stress on the engine. It’s simply removing a restriction on the exhaust.

    Great video!
    I did the same installation to my bike but I have a problem. After 5 kilometers test run my engine was stalled and it won’t start again. I have to pushed my bike home and replace the decat mid pipe to the stock catalyzer pipe. And when I start the bike it only runs for 130 seconds and stopped. I don’t understand which step I did wrong…Do you have any idea?

      Always riding on riding pants and off-road/ dirt bike boots so I’ve never noticed any heat to begin with. Biggest pros are the bike no longer sounds like a bunch of bolts rattling around in the crank case and it has better pick up low to mid range.

    Can anyone comment about removing the cat leading to being too lean and a service light that knocks out cruise control?

    • @2WR
      @2WR  2 года назад

      Brent, short answer is "it could." That said, haven't had any issues. Is the service light question a separate question? If you turn off MTC, cruise control will not function. It will also not function if your ABS Sensor/Wheel Speed sensors are disconnected or faulty.

    Why delete the cat for a mere weight savings of 4 lbs.? Just delete the sub and soda you have in your tailbag and take a crap before you go riding. The euro 5 emissions software on the 2021+ is inclusive of the cat in place and incorporated into the ECU. The lack of a cat will make the bike stumble at high revs. I was told by a pipe manufacturer after multiple runs on the Dyno that a cat delete actually hinders the performance and certainly kills the warranty. Personally, I would not alter the performance of my bike over 4 lb and a little extra heat that I've never felt on my 890 ADV anyway. Just IMHO! However, congrats on your very informative how-to video for those that dont care about performence and value loud pipes.

      @@2WR I know it's been a month but thanks for that information about warrenties. It states that the consumer is allowed to add aftermarket parts and can't be denied warranty coverage unless the manufacturer can prove that this modification was the cause of the problem. It sounds as complicated as the warranty itself, lol. To each his own. I was strongly advised by a pipe manufacturer not to do it so I decided to deal with the extra 4 lb.
      This group is for learning so I thank you for providing me with that educational information. I might be able to use it someday. Brapppp!
