This is a great memory that I took with me after I graduated in 1967. It went right by Angel Hall and across the street my dorm Helen Newberry residence. I doubt that the residence is there anymore a small warm intimate place to live.
I lived in Ann Arbor from 1974-84 and went to my first Michigan game in September '74. I've been a fan ever since. I've always considered the band to be part of the team. They're definitely one of the very best in the country.
If you ever come to Friendswood Texas I want to hug your necks. I'm watching this while in a rehabilitation center from a fall downstairs. Blessed to be alive and blessed to watch you. Daily gratitude.
I can remember the very first game I went to back in the mid 70's and the band had me mesmerized, my family loved the band so much we would go I think it was every Thursday and watch the band practice and when I became an adult and my children took interest in the marching band I would take them when they were younger I said all of this to say. There is no band like the University of Michigan Marching Band GO BLUE!!!!!!
im a michigan fan myself but if you like this, check out Michigan state and their bands’ “The Series.” it’s another really fun parade cadence and they do a lotta choreo
This was amazing. The former band director at NCA&TSU aggies attended grad school at Michigan and the cadence they used coming out the band room A&T used to take the field for half time shows over 60 years ago. RIP Professor Walter Carlson
I stumbled across this video and I love it. Go blue Michigan you are extraordinary all done with discipline and you like it Good luck from Belgium !!!!
@@texasag6297 Exactly what it says dude. Band kids are high school/college students who are members of their schools band! Another word they used to use when I was in school as 'bandies.' There is kind of a sub culture around band kids. And, I'm afraid, a few stereotypes as well. At least on the high school level.
How y’all March in those “Heavy” Backpacks 🎒 yea I know that it looks like it but in reality it isn’t probably but maybe with those Instruments especially those Huge Heavy Ones. Oof y’all very Brave.

Oh...you know I had to raz you. But I have been a life-long band geek, and do not understand how we regularly (in High School) marched parades like The Aqua-Festival and every single football game and marching competition in full gabardine wool uniforms - wool, not poly-wool blends - but bands today wear shorts until October? It was 100 degrees back then too. I don't think we were any tougher than today's kids. I have seen the shows they put on and the work it takes to get those shows down solid.

As someone who was actually IN the marching band in high school (my university did not have one) I agree with you 100%. I'd be right there next to you on that ground today! But to think that 40 years ago I marched at the football games in the November cold with light snow on the ground and marched MILES in every Memorial Day parade in full dress WOOL uniform in the heat and humidity the last week of May and didn't really think anything about it makes me long for my youth. At least THESE guys get to wear shorts and tee shirts. That wasn't allowed back in the old days! LOL

Each and everyone of them should be commended. They are a HUGE part of the sports programs!!! They are amazing!!!

I've never been a Michigan fan but I LOVED this! So much fun! Kudos! I've never seen so much choreography in a march-in from a non-HBCU school.

My brother was in the band his freshman year. Got to go to the 1977 rose bowl. Played the trombone.
That must have been awesome for him!

The Marching Wildcats!!!!!
Beautiful 🌹
So awesome!
Anyone know what drum heads the shares are I’m getting a snare and they sound so good lol
When not in full uniform, keep the hats and plumes in the band room lol. On another note, that drum cadence was🔥🔥🔥.
It's good to practice with a heavy wind-catcher on your head, to know how it will feel. They also wear them for the Saturday morning rehearsals.
The one trombone player with the glasses is getting it!!!!
They are great
Great sound, performance, and entertainment
God I love band kids! Have 4 myself. Great sound!

do drummers get tired ?

100%, but for me playing is a good distraction from being tired, but the more time you spend with a drum on the easier it gets

When Revelli (aka "the chief") and Cavender led The Michigan Marching Band, this lack of precision would have never been tolerated, even in practice.
