Hi Reble! This isn't really related to the video but I'm 18 and just came out as lesbian and just wanted to thank you and your girlfriend for being such a power couple. There isn't much representation in media of lesbian relationships (except if it's fetishized) and for some reason I feel like that really created a block in my head and made it seem like it wasn't possible for me to ever be in that sort of relationship and made it seem like a hetero relationship was all that was in reach. Seeing such a loving, caring and supportive relationship like yours really opened my heart up to the idea that I could be gay and not asexual as I always thought I was. Just thank you, so much. Accepting my real feelings was like knocking off a thousand pounds of weight off my soul and if I didn't have you to look up to in the past year idk how long it would have taken for me to get here.♥️♥️♥️ Now I just gotta get over my crippling fear of pretty girls 👉👈😳
I'M PROUD OF YOU... no one answered this and I felt like someone should have said something... It's 10 months later but.... 👉🏽👈🏽... anyway... I don't know you but I'm proud of you. I hope everything goes well in your life and you found love, I hope a pretty girl helped you overcome that fear and last but not least I hope you're happy.
I’m sure they would have responded if they’d seen it. Congratulations on your latest self discovery. We’re always learning things on our life journey and sometimes it’s about ourselves. I think those can be the best things to learn, or at least the most productive things. Now you can live your best life, authentically. I can’t help you with the pretty girl thing though, I have an attraction to intimidating women, who are, funnily enough, *intimidating* 😅
I’m straight and have a hard time talking to pretty women 23 here lol you’ll be just fine if you’re lesbian I think it’ll be easier for you then I good luck and cheers to this new channel to help me learn loved roller skating as a kid because of my brother.
Straight 58 year old woman here who’s happy for you! Would like to send a reminder that pretty people are just people. And that everyone is pretty in their own way. ❤
Yaaas. I have ADHD and I live in Australia (I've never seen a squirrel irl) and I had to show my partner one specific part of the video because I was laughing at myself and also proud because I was focusing on the video and then got super distracted by the squirrels and had to rewind! 'oh look squirrel' is apparently an ADHD right of passage I'd always felt left out of until today!!!
I had a super hard time with transitions at first and then I figured out I was thinking about it too much. I started leading with my body and letting my feet follow and it is muscle memory now.
same!! i didn’t realise how much overthinking gets in the way of pulling off certain moves til i started playing music that occupied my mind enough that i could just skate freely
The staggered stance saved me! I watched so many tutorials and no tutorial mentioned this! I always kept my feet straight next to eachother and indeed lose my balance. Thank you for this Love from a huge fan❤️❤️
wow! this has been the most informative transition video yet! thank you!!! I definitely need to stretch my hip flexors because that is where I've been struggling the most - that is, getting my feet to sit in a straight line next to one another. Another super helpful tip was the "stagger your feet" - while I had been doing this when skating, I didn't think to do it for transitioning. Can't wait to try again with this new information! THANK YOUU THANK YOUU!!
I Love The Way You Explain Things. I swear, some of the people I skate with do not explain things the way you do. Thank you , you speak my skating language
Maybe a more "advanced"/troubleshooting transition video? I can transition reliably, but it doesn't feel smooth and I lose significant momentum. Also, maybe one foot transitions? (it's a thing in ice skating but idk if it's possible in roller skates because you don't have a rocker point in the middle of your skate to pivot on)
How to do forward crossovers to turn direction! Thank you so much for the video, I’ve been nervous about trying transitions, but this’ll boost my confidence next skate sesh.
The way you teach is so clear and easy to understand, and I absolutely love your cadence. You seem so friendly and wonderful! Thank you so much for all of your help through your videos!!
I've done marching band for 6 years now and I feel like transitions in skating are very similar to direction changes in marching! I can't wait to get my skates in so I can start learning!
I've been skating for 30 days now and I've learned how to do a stationary transition. The goal now is to actually do a transition while moving, which is still so hard for me right now.
this was so helpful! I've been struggling so much with transitions and couldn't understand why I couldn't put my toes out but this made me realize my hip flexors are too tight! Thank you so much for that info! I now know how to improve and am off to do some stretches
Thanks for the suggestions for hip flexor stretches! Middle aged gal here, but skated for years as a kid. Really really want to get a pair skates and get rolling again. My kids might laugh at me. 😂
it's so hard because it's so easy to get in your head about transitions. That's why I always focus on the opening the book and closing the book strategy because it takes me out of my head for a minute.
I appreciate your channel as its so uplifting. Back in my teens, I used to do splits on roller skates, spin and all that stuff. My kiddos didn't believe me until I pulled out the pics. Lol - Had my right ACL reconstructed in 07/1991 and then again in 09/2010. Since then, I've been very cautious about jam skating due to the instability of my lateral collateral ligament in right knee. Had it evaluated numerous times and docs all agree if there's no pain, inflammation and doesn't interfer with quality of life, then don't fix it, just wear supportive devices. Fast forward, I've been skating forward/backwards and moving arms/hips. My passion is to truly return to jam skating but cautiously as I KNOW I can't revive my glory years. Thing is ... despite being able to jog, walk long distances and do other stuff, I sometimes become paralyzed by my fear of re-injuring my right knee. Especially since I've managed to work around my slightly unstable ligament. However, jam skating requires more flexibility and I am at a loss re: how to revive my love/passion for the rink.
I’ve *never* 😳 heard anyone address the importance of being able to open up the hips and how helpful it can be to know how to balance, even just for a second, one one foot. So many tutorials, while well meaning, just show the foot work and dont address that there may be other things at play that need consideration🤷🏼♀️ Have been working on bettering my balance and even more so, the hip flexor stretches and it’s made ALL the difference-Thank you for breaking this down SO well!!🙌🏻❤️🙌🏻❤️
Thank you. No other video Ive watched has talked about flexibility. That is a big issue for me. Thanks for the giving an example, that stretch looks simple enough but I know I’m going to be stiff.
this video was so helpful, wow!! i love this channel so much, omg, i always smile so much when i see a new video on my feed!! can’t wait to try this out, you made it easy enough for me to understand, thanks rebel ♥️♥️ (ps, bowie’s so cute...)
My skates aren't here yet, but I find Rebel's instructional videos for beginners to be the easiest to understand and process. I'll definitely be rewatching when the skates arrive in 4 days eeeee💖💖💖
I ordered skates on Thursday and I am watching videos like this so it’s easier when I try to do things like this I know what to do still waiting for my impala skates to come they should be coming next Thursday
I love watching you! You're so bubbly and happy! Been watching your videos for 2 days now. Can't wait to try all your videos that I've watched tomorrow. My skates are getting delivered tomorrow. Haven't skated for 30 years and I tried to skate for the first time again with my son last week and I loved it that I wanted to be good at it and not just skate through like when I was 12 using adult size skates on my tiny feet.
Thank you so much for this video! This gave me all the details I needed to see where I was going wrong. Not staggered legs for one! Plus not enough knee bend for two! Also I was throwing my arm back, ugh 🤦 Thank you immensely!
Thank you so much for this breakdown! I've been trying to nail this transition but you confirmed a lot of what I think was the issue (tight hip flexors and lack of ankle mobility) I'll definitely use all the advice you so graciously discussed! Thank you :)
Thank God!!!! I have been trying and failing for a week. I don't even care to skate backwards. I just skate outside and need to be as safe as possible! Thank you for making this!!! I'll be able to turn-around-toe-stop super soon!
so excited to learn my next trick hoping to add it to my list before my first day of junior year! skating has brought me such joy during this time and I even met some kids that I now skate with every once in a while at our local park :)
Hun, I am OBSESSED with all your tutorials. Just thanks SOOO much! I managed to do this today & I have a balance disorder - great sport to pick eh? - and you make each video so EASY to understand, even down to maintenance and wheel changes etc. Thanks for everything! x x x x
Omg I just love your channel, you are changing my life one video at a time lol! You are a goddess literally (you’re roommate too) literally love you girls ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
YAAAAAYYYY!!! The video I have been waiting for!! The weather here has been absolute crap and the sun is finally out after like 5 days of rain and chilly air! Can't wait to take your advice and go improve my transitions...I love the "open" and "close" the book reference! It makes sense now. I will let you know how things go for me!!
It looks so much easier when you do it. Time to practice balancing! Edit: I actually learned it in one afternoon. On a really smooth surface, but thank you for the helpful instructions!!!
thank you for talking about hip flexors! I've watched so many videos about transitions and had no idea that hip flexor stretches would help because no one talked about the "what if i can't skate in side-stance". Catch me stretching for the next few days~
Very helpful, although I am still struggling and worried about going splat on the ground. :). This is my first time skating and I love your teaching methods and style.
I ordered skates & im waiting for them to arrive but in the meantime I’m loving watching all of your videos!! Out of everyone I can find on RUclips i think you’re the best at teaching! you explain everything in a way that’s easy to understand and just makes sense :)
Literally JUST trying to find transition videos (yesterday and today) because I wasn't getting it and then this comes up like bam! Thank you lol Edit: I think the staggering was the missing piece 🧐 I'm gonna go try again n see
Hi!! I just wanted to let you know that the muscles you are stretching in that frog stretch at the end are the adductors, not hip flexors. Great vid! I'm waiting for my skates in the mail atm. So excited!!
Staggered feet while attempting a transition! Been having trouble learning transitional and I feel like this will help so much! Watched other videos for advice and no one mentioned that. Can't wait to try tomorrow :)
Thank you so much for the explanation about left/right foot dominant movements. Please help, I don't know how to use toe stops and it's frustrating because I feel like they trip me up more than they help me stop. I rely on forward bubbles to help me slow down and stop.
Absolutely love your videos, thank you so much for these! I just started transitioning today... weird question but I’m finding that it’s a lot easier for me to transition backwards to forwards rather than forwards to backwards...is there any reason for this?
I never thought about staggering the feet! I've been trying transitions for a few days now and I can do them but I get shaky if I'm going fast enough. I'm gonna try this next time I skate and see how it goes!
I’m trying so hard to transition! I’ve been skating for two months and I just can’t get the hang of it😭whenever I start to transition on the one foot, my other foot gets lost and drags behind! It might be a mind over matter situation as I’m not the best as skating backwards, your videos have been really helpful, ive played this video at least five times this week!!!
Great video, thanks! I can kinda do transitions but I'm not smooth and don't feel too stable, I'm going to try bending my knees more, staggering my feet and doing those hip stretches! I have over active hip flexors so should help with that too 😁
If anyone needs some good hip flexor streches, one is the butterfly strech where you put the soles of your feet together! You can sit like this or bend over if you want! You can also gently press your knees because the goal is to get your knees to touch the ground while your feet and bottom stay on the floor! Hope this helps :)
Thanks for pointing out that using the pivot method you pivot on your back wheels when going from backwards to forwards! I was trying to pivot on my front wheels and it just wasn't working lol
I can sort of do transitions (I’m still learning 😋), but when I go forwards to backwards when rolling (not too fast or I will fall 😂 still finding my balance), but once I’ve transitioned I stop rolling and I’m not putting my toe stop down. Idk what I might be doing wrong or if I have to just practice going at a faster speed but I’m very confused why it keeps happening. Help? 😁😆

You made perfect timing with this one. I *just* laced up my skates to practice transitions.

You can also gently press your knees because the goal is to get your knees to touch the ground while your feet and bottom stay on the floor! Hope this helps :)
tysm for this! 💜 I’ve tried watching so many other other tutorials but yours made the most sense to me :) I’ve only been skating for two weeks 🤭
Yoooo, I see your sock dreams socks and sock glueee! Love that shop❤️❤️💕💕
Oh cool! 😂 I am hunting to comments just to see where these socks might be from!
Thanks for pointing out that using the pivot method you pivot on your back wheels when going from backwards to forwards! I was trying to pivot on my front wheels and it just wasn't working lol
Glad to help!
Help? 😁😆
Excellent video!! Can I just say your outfit is giving me more confidence to wear short shorts outdoors 😍 I’m so insecure about my legs. 😣
Thanks for this video ... I’ll try again!! Transition is so hard to do!!! 😩 🇧🇪
such great style...i have a degree in fashion design so if you ever need some hot shorts or what have you i would love to have you as a muse
Ooo I always had trouble turning forward going backwards. Thanka for the tips!
Your camera lady always gets great shots of Bowie and neighborhood squirrels. It really makes my day. lol Also, thanks for teaching me to skate
