I saw someone using the phrase "tits over toes" to remember to bend their knees when feeling wobbly, and now I can't get it out of my head! So everytime you said "super skater" I was saying "tits over toes" aha
One time I went to a skate place, never had skated before. Held onto the all (I used incline skates btw) went again about a year Lester and somehow after half an hour of relearning I could skate in circles pretty fast I had no idea how I was able to do it. Haven’t skated in 2 years and I wanna get a pair of roller skated and start again
“Skating is different than walking” is the one of the best pieces of advice from this. I never thought about it, but it’s so true. This is a whole new form of locomotion. Like driving a car or riding a bike... those things were hard for me at first, but once I learn it, it’s an exponential growth. The hardest part for me is the minutiae; I like step-by-step instruction, especially for physical tasks. This video does a wonderful job of slowing down each motion. I also love seeing a real beginner. This really is the best beginners video I’ve seen 💕
I just got my skates today and even just standing up is SO scary. She learned so fast!! I wish there were more videos of beginners that are super wobbly and scared 🥺 idk how to brake the nervousness.
I'm taking notes. I'm 1 week into having my skates and I'm a complete beginner. I'm slowly learning and I can now successfully stand up and fall. Turns out I keep doing all DO NOT DO's so that explains all the slow progress
I feel ya on this! I'm still working on striding and NOT walking cause I was confused as to why I wasn't rly goin nowhere? Keeping my knees bent n knowing how to fall I'm okay...I just gotta skate not walk (≧▽≦)
It was genius to film this with someone you were actually teaching to skate. SO HELPFULLLLL. Just started skating this past month and got my own skates yesterday! thank you so so much. subbed
oh yeah you. can you not complain about things on Barbie Patin videos. Have you seen her skate around like this? Hell no she's badass! I'm serious man don't let me catch you over there passing comments about things not being to your liking any more.
I've never really learnt how to skate. I'm just now getting into it at 20 years old and this is so helpful! I'm only 3 minutes in and it's taught me more than anyone else has. Thank you!
I remember doing bubbles when I was a figure skater. Forward and backward, as fast as possible around the rink 😂 the way you are on your roller skates reminds me of how normal it was to be in ice skates. I can’t roller skate and I’ve been struggling to learn. My son just started skateboarding and I’ve been trying to roller skate with him. I really really suck lol. This is super helpful I’m trying to learn in hopes I can actually figure it out before finally just giving up and selling my skates.
Do you mind if I ask for an update? How did it go? I used to skate all the time when I was a tween and loved it! So I’m trying to get my son into skating or a scooter and I’ve just ordered my first pair as an adult- finders crossed I can pick it up again without any broken bones and succeed in getting him to try too 😊
I love it 'Super Skater' is my new mantra!!!! Feeling super wobbly stating out, now I have a hero's cheer to make me feel proud and taking control back. Great video
its so helpful to have someone who knows what theyre doing explainging and showing alongside someine who DOESNT know. seeing that the way I struggle as a beginner is fine and proper is lovely
I just got my first pair of rollerskates as a present, and I can’t wait to try them and follow your tips for beginners like me! I’m 31 years old, but always loved skates. Thank you for your beautiful work and passion!! 🥰🥰
Thank you for this! I bought some skates back in November when they were on sale at Big 5. I only tried them twice before the pandemic hit. Now I decided to pull them out to practice since I have nothing better to do and to learn for when I’m able to go to the skating ring again. This really helped. I will be looking at your other skating tips vids. Have a nice day and stay safe! 😊
I just want to say, I'm a beginner in my mid-thirties and today I had the first session with my first pair of roller skates -- I loved it! I did my first bubbles and fell twice (my pads are awesome!). This was the first skating tutorial video I watched (while waiting for my skates in the mail) and have been hooked on your channel ever since. Thank you for your positivity, happiness, and helpful process/supportive attitude. Love the content... keep it coming!
Your channel was highly recommended by other newbies!!Growing up I lived in my roller skates! My sister has a disability so she would sit on her skateboard and push with her hands to get around instead of using a wheelchair. So I would be in my roller skates and she on her skateboard! I even had the puffy ball or I would tie a Smurf to my skates ( that’s what was in back then) well now after many years I’m getting back into it and thought I should watch some basics. I loved how you had a beginner beside you to show how it really is when learning! You did a great job breaking it down (which is heard to do!) it’s a rainy day as I sit here watching your tutorials which is a good thing bc if it was a sunny day I think I’d be soooo excited and just go there and skate snd most likely hurt myself, so it’s a good thing it’s raining and that I heard of your channel! I’m learning the basics, some new things AND the correct way of skating! I can’t wait to use your techniques that I’m learning and to practice them on my sparkling new Moxi Lollys! They are GORGEOUS! I’m SO SO SOOO in love with them and just looking at them brings back all those wonderful memories! Thank you for doing a great job your an AMAZING teacher! Later skater 🛼
Is it possible to bubble on rough asphalt? I can see y'all are outside, but it looks a lot smoother than my driveway and looks and feels and I couldn't figure out how to turn my feet.
My first pair of skates arrived this morning and I RAN to your channel. I subscribed to you a week ago after I made the decision that I wanted to rollerskate and I'm so glad I did. This tutorial is fantastic and your friend learned so quickly!! So impressive, clearly a great teacher!!
I got my skates for my birthday and even though it's been raining everyday since, once the weather gets better I'm excited to skate for the first time!!
I’m in my 30’s and only just realised I want to learn to skate. I went to the local store to figure out my size. It was SOOOOOOOO much harder than I remembered visiting the skate rink as a little kid. Thankfully, the salesman was willing to help support me and stop me falling over, but I was struggling (it was kind of embarrassing and made me question what the hell I was thinking). I was between sizes so came home to research on RUclips. I found your videos and they were EXTREMELY helpful. Visited the store again today and shocked them by my progress - just from watching your videos and learning the basics. Now I have more confidence in getting the right size (because I was actually able to move around on them) and in my abilities. THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏🏼😁 !!!!
SO helpful! First time on skates in 35 years. I fell SO HARD yesterday, and learned why from this video! Learning how to stand properly. Very helpful video!
I just bought my first skates that came in yesterday, watched 3 videos, this one included, and then went out this morning to try it. I have NEVER been good in quads having grown up with roller blades and I now live in CO so I also ice skate every so often. But because of this video, I was fine right out the gate! It felt really similar to inlines and I never felt that before! I practiced smooshing down, I jumped over cracks, I got comments on my style, it was fabulous, I'm so glad I found this channel!!
Last night I was trying to skate with my new rollers, I made all the mistakes she mention, even hurt myself falling. Today I went ahead to practice after watching this video. This video covers it all completely. Thanks Queer Girl, you just got me more motivated to skating.
Lol i broke my elbow a couple of weeks ago in the same way! I'm used to rollerblades (brakes are at the back) so i instinctively went for it and fell backwards! Damn it!!!🤣
Thank you! I'm 50 something and I just got my new skates. They're fab! I honestly thought I was going to be as good as I was in the 80's. NOT! Today's skates are lighter and faster. WHAT WAS I THINKING? Loving your videos. I'm sure I'll be watching them over and over.
I just started learning last week and I've been trying to supplement what I'm learning with some RUclips videos but this is the only beginner video that feels like it's for actual beginners and talks about things my teacher has been telling me. I'm so glad this exists!
Thank you so much for these videos! 17 years in Long Beach (and 7 around the corner from Moxi) and I never learned. I just moved to Sacramento and a friend up here (also from the LB area) is going to teach me. I am super homesick, and happened to find your videos today, looking up the Rainbow Riders. It makes my heart happy to know my feet will still be connected to LB.
I just bought my first rollerskate and trying it inside the house cause the rest of the gear didn't arrive yet. And I was so happy that I did the how to stand. 😄 Will try the rest soon. ❤️
Thank you for this! I did watch Deb's Dirty School of Skating for beginners....tried to stand upright, landed on my back :') I used to rollerskate as a kid, and I was thinking this was going to be like riding a bike...nope! Rollerskating apparently needs muscles I have not been utilizing recently. It's like my body remembers what to do, but has no clue how to get my center of gravity where it needs to be. There was no RUclips when I was a kid, so I just learned by trying different things. I am so glad there are RUclips tutorials on this now that I am an adult!
This is the best tutorial out there, I d now started following you on Instagram too, I've gone from petrified of moving, to penguin and shooping on rubber to penguin and shooping on tarmac in 3 sessions, next to figure out how to turn a corner and I'll be ready to take over the world!
I have the sneaking suspicion that I struggled to skate at the birthday party I went to as a kid because no one taught me what I was doing. Now I just have to see how much better I learn when my skates arrive! (I’m so impatient I’m watching every beginner skate tutorial I can find.)
OMG thank you thank you thank you for all of your beginner videos! My neighbor and I both got roller skates but I've only skated on a track with broken in skates, it's a huge relief that so many important questions are answered in your beginner playlist! Can't wait to start tomorrow!
I started frantic following a bunch of skaters like yourself and shove because I’m so stoked about my new skates, and imagine how ecstatic I was when I found out you had a RUclips channel!!! Thank you so much, I can’t wait to learn more from you! 💖💜💙
I taught myself how to roller skate in one rollaero session (so like 2.5 hours) lol. There was a lot of falling, bruises/ pain, and concerned friends, but now all I have to do is get better and better every day lol. I never roller skated without the wall before that session and I was (for some reason) really determined to learn how to skate lol!
This sounds like me last week. I kept getting up and that alone made me feel so confident. Im so pained up but Im waiting on my own pair rn to skate some more!!
This video helped me realize I’m probably doing too much pushing off with my feet and not enough shifting of my weight and leg straightening!! Thank you! I’m excited to get back on my skates now :)
My new skates arrived today! I’ve been watching beginner skate videos all day and this is definitely the best one I’ve seen. Thank you 🙏🏻 I’ve never skated before and have 0 balance but this one made the most sense!
I genuinely want to thank the new skater for your bravery! I felt AALLL of your anxiety BUUUT ALSO feel more confident starting my skating journey! Thank you!
I used to skate as a child in the mid to late 80’s. I just ordered my first pair of adult roller skates and I’m trying to brush up on the basics, thank you for these videos! You are a doll❤️
She learned sooo fast. Here I am week two, and I have fallen like 20 times, hurt my elbow, tailbone and strained my left quad 🥺 And I am so so scared to skate over those sidewalk cracks! I would fall for sure
I started this past Monday, and have only skated twice this week. On Monday I fell like 12-15 times, twice at the rink Tuesday. And I'm buying my own skates today haha because I can't wait on a weekly class and I also can't rely on rental skates in a chaotic rink where I have more to worry about. Are you wearing your gear?
Thank you so much! I will be skating later for the first time and this is the best video so far because you have simple explanations, and I can relate to the other girl.
I only knew -100 of how to actually rightfully skate. When ever I’ve fall I’ve fall backwards but I’ve been using my safety gear so it’s been helpful. And your video has been helpful thank you.
I JUST TRIED OUT MY SKATES FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!! (It's been winter and shitty weather here in NL) and these things came kind of naturally to me (I'm used to ice skating lol) but it's good to go over it and get it anchored in my brain. Woooooooo I'm so excited
THese are really good tips. I'm trying to teach myself how to skate again. Years ago I did fitness skating in rollerblades and now I'm trying to learn in quads that I bought YEARS ago but never fully transitioned into. The crazy part? Girl I'm in a park using ski poles. It keeps me off the ground for now. Eventually (if I keep up) I won't need them. Thank you!
Definitely the most helpful video for beginners I’ve seen, on RUclips, tiktok or anywhere. Ty sooo much, I am reentering the skate world after 30+ Yrs, this is helpful!
Back to skating after many years of zero skating. I had a bad fall 14 years ago and damaged my coccyx, that put me off skating again. I really want to get back into it. TBH, I was never a confident skater, just the basics, skating along the promenade, it helped me lose weight and get my body in shape. Today I'm practicing the basics in my kitchen and realise I need to learn basic techniques. I like your style of teaching, very informative and fun. New subscriber.

I love that you actually go into detail about everything. A lot of videos just expect you to know everything right away 😅
I love how everyone has different names for dropping down when you feel wobbly, like I call it "small before you fall" :D
it’s like the myers briggs types but better
Shes a good student! When she got the bubbles I was so happy
I was nervous watching that part but she nailed it.
I guess envisioned myself losing control or my bubble getting too big. LoL.
I just got my skates today and even just standing up is SO scary. She learned so fast!! I wish there were more videos of beginners that are super wobbly and scared 🥺 idk how to brake the nervousness.

What’s your best tip for beginners learning how to skate?
Queer Girl Straight Skates keeping your shins “pushing” on the tongue of the skate! helps you keep your knees bent and weight center/forward
No matter how hard it may seem don't give up.
If u fall, just go up and keep trying 🤘🤘🤘
Use a pram or a toy pram if you have one to help you go downhill and to keep balance
Wish someone woulda told me when i was a kid broke my wrist instantly

Do it! (with protective gear). Put some motivational music on. It really helps.

Lol! I'm sitting on my bed, can't even seem to stand up
I loved the goldfish part, that's actually an easy way to remember not to put my hands down when I fall 🐡❤️

There was no RUclips when I was a kid, so I just learned by trying different things. I am so glad there are RUclips tutorials on this now that I am an adult!
Thank you for not editing out your mistakes. If ur that good and still stumble obviously a beginner will too. Very realistic.
This is the best tutorial out there, I d now started following you on Instagram too, I've gone from petrified of moving, to penguin and shooping on rubber to penguin and shooping on tarmac in 3 sessions, next to figure out how to turn a corner and I'll be ready to take over the world!
This helped me a l o t, i got my rollerskates four days ago and I literally couldn't stride at all until I saw this today, thank you 🧡🧡🧡
I have the sneaking suspicion that I struggled to skate at the birthday party I went to as a kid because no one taught me what I was doing.
Your video out of several that I have watched is the best of all, it got me moving. Still working on the bubble move . You are the greatest
This is so helpful AND her style is amazing, what a icon
You are a great instructor! You know how to speak the instructions and show them properly, thank you!
This tutorial is more effective than the other videos I’ve watched. My boyfriend just bought me skates yesterday
Thanks ,finally a real beginner tutorial. Good job! Going to show to my granddaughter who I just bought skates for cause GMa ain’t going to skate.
this is the best beginner tutorial I've ever seen. just unlocked the bubbles with you, thank you so much!
The serotonin this video is giving!
The goldfish visuals when falling is so sweet. ❤
This video helped me realize I’m probably doing too much pushing off with my feet and not enough shifting of my weight and leg straightening!! Thank you! I’m excited to get back on my skates now :)
Thanks for posting these. They help me help my granddaughter as she learns to skate!
I just got my skates and this video has helped me to learn.. Thank you for this amazing video
Teaching is a skill and you did an excellent job. Thanks so much for sharing.
Definitely the best tutorial online! Love from Scotland. X
My new skates arrived today! I’ve been watching beginner skate videos all day and this is definitely the best one I’ve seen. Thank you 🙏🏻 I’ve never skated before and have 0 balance but this one made the most sense!
8:20 *penguin* 💚 most epic description ever.
Thanks I just ordered skates and this video helped a lot
I loved the goldfish bit! I am going to try to remember that. I'm not too happy with all the skin that's missing from my palm xD
I'm so happy to finally find tutorial skating for begginer❤❤❤
Great beginner tips. I liked the bubbles but then got distracted by the guy in the red shorts.
This is the BEST video for beginners. You made it very easy to understand.
I only knew -100 of how to actually rightfully skate. When ever I’ve fall I’ve fall backwards but I’ve been using my safety gear so it’s been helpful. And your video has been helpful thank you.
Im getting some skates for my birthday and watching your videos makes me sooo excited, and your in my city!!
Es la mejor explicación que he visto y eso que nisiquiera hablo inglés, muchas gracias!❤
I just bought my roller skates this weekend and this is the most helpful video i watched. I subscribed to learn more!!! ❤
