    So happy to see you enjoyed it, it’s my fav Irish, but I’ve seen it not get the greatest reviews from other whiskey tubers

    Last time I had Tullamore was June last year. Had a whole bottle on Tullamore Dew XO rum cask finish.
    what i remember is that on the nose it had lots of vanilla with oak banana coconut
    on the palate the same things but maybe add some dried dark fruits like raisins and stuff
    the regular green one i had like 3-4 years ago ngl and i can remember that it is very soft creamy easy to drink with vanilla, maybe some cherry and some chocolate
    that's about all i remember from the green regular

    I love Tullamore DEW! My favorite rendition is the Trilogy. That one is finished in rum casks as well. Extremely interesting, complex, and delicious. Thanks for the review!

    Tullamore Dew green label was the first full size bottle of whisky that I bought. I only have about three inches left as I quite enjoy it. Glad to hear that you do a special Irish whisky month as thats pretty much all I buy at this point. Side note, my walmart had Bushmills Black Bush for $13, 750ml. Only two bottles but felt like I won a lotto. And that blooper was classic. :D

    This is just a classic Irish pot still and I've always wondered what a cask strength dram would taste like. Not challenging, but sometimes you just want a nice sipper. Thanks, Bill.

    See, this is a pleasant surprise given I've only ever had the green tullamore chilled down straight from a bottle while venue hopping (stumbling really) in eastern Europe xD

    I had the regular Tullamore mor than a year ago. For me it was too bitter, thin and harsh. I didn't really enjoy it in an Irish coffee either. So I won't replace it anytime soon.
    But I will try the 12yo if I find it.

  • @spencer-mav

    This sounds like it is worth a shot if I saw it for a decent price. Can't remember the last time I had the regular dew, but I obviously wasn't impressed cause I've yet to revisit. Irish is a good go to when I'm looking for something easy, so that makes this appeal to me.

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary
      @TheWhiskeyDictionary  2 года назад +1

      I'd like to try that one. I did thr West Cork bourbon barrel last year and I wasn't a fan. Higher ABV usually goes well though!

  • @Robert_Fiori

    My fave TD is the Phoenix - not age-stated, but higher abv which outweighs the age for me. I actually add 20% of the 12yo to 80% of the Phoenix. After left to blend for a month or so it's delicious. Phoenix is discontinued, but I was lucky enough to buy several bottles before 'extinction'.

    Good review, but based on your review imma return the bottle I got few days back. It was almost $55 after taxes. I can pick up a nice higher ABV scotch or a Smokewagon bourbon for that price.

    This bottle really is fantastic, and at $42 I’m tempted to call it the best value in Irish whiskey I’ve had. However, I’m getting Jameson Black Barrel for $33 and, although the Tullamore 12 is more tasty, I’d have to give the value crown to that Black Barrel. It ain’t Green Spot, but it’s reminiscent of it.

    i respect everyone's opinion and look forward to trying this. Green Tullamore D.E.W. is my favorite and i find it to be the smoothest whiskey I have had. Not that I'm a world renowned drinker or aficionado at all. I just find it to be the smoothest whiskey I've had. Again thank you for the review and look fwd to trying the 12, but had to defend my go to when it was called harsh 😀

    I'm finding the Irish I'm tasting through right now to be soft and light. I'd be hard pressed to buy a 40%-er. Luckily my return to Yellow Spot was better than I remember. Bottle was maybe 3/4 full and I hadn't opened it basically since last March. So I'm hopefully for the Waterford and Glendalough I'm opening this weekend.

    • @TheWhiskeyDictionary

    Greetings from a fan from Tullamore!
    Offaly is pronounced like you would expect, like offal or awful but with a y at the end
    Uíbh Fhailí is what you were trying to pronounce, it's more like Ew Fall-Ya with a few Irish language pronunciation quirks

  • @joshreszke6871
    @joshreszke6871 2 года назад +1

    I had the green label last year. It was good though not a memorable flavor. I've only tried a few Irish Whiskeys and plan to try the XO.

  • @murphythemullet
    @murphythemullet 2 года назад +2

    You said Uíbh Fhailí which is the irish language version, whereas the written caption Offaly was the Anglicized version, pronounced like you would expect. Most names have original and anglicised versions which can be confusing.

    I had the standard Tullimore Dew about six months ago. It was “ok”. I haven’t tried the 12 year but it’s $55 here in Florida. I usually won’t pay more than $30 for a 40% whiskey. Now if it were a 21 year whiskey from the 70s, I would pay a couple of hundred bucks for it. However, these big brand distilleries have really dropped their standards over the last couple of decades. They are way overpriced for the juice in the bottle.

      I understand you may think that but nope... especially in the case of sherried whiskey. If you smell a red wine do you only smell alcohol? Doubtful... so add whiskey in a barrel that used to carry Sherry and tell me that won't have some fruity smells and tastes... don't think you could.
      Here's hoping some day your sense of smell improves
