I would love to see a follow up to this as there are now so many more SPS Irish whiskeys on the shelves. One I was surprised you didn't cover was the Teeling single Pot still that was in your background! New ones I have seen or read about recently: Teeling, Kilbeggan, Drumshanbo, Ballykeefe, Glendalough, Method and Madness and even Jameson
Well done and accurate Jason. The RB Lustau is very good as well. Would love to see your content be ~25-33% non-US whiskeys. You have the best combo of content, perspective and time efficiency. Well done!
Yes, Irish has been a good option for a change from Tennessee Whiskey for me. Recently moved from Jameson to Red Breast 12 yr and really like it's notes (is that how the attributes are described?). Thanks for the list, I will be searching for that Power's next.
Great review Jason. As the bourbon market has gotten crazier with ridiculous secondary gouging, I have gotten more into Irish Whiskey and Scotch. The Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton is such a beautiful dram and has become one of my favorite Whiskeys. Cheers, and continue the epic content.
I have almost all these on my bar but the one you left off and my personal favorite is the Redbreast 15 at 92 proof. I have Irish night once a week and happen to be sipping on a Redbreast Lustau right now which so good. Cheers!
Great stuff! I did tried Power 3 Swallows based on one of your other videos and super happy with it. Over the past weekend, I had it along with RB 15, RB 12 yr CS, RB Lustau, Knappogue Castle 12, Knappogue Castle16 and the odd one Amrut Kadhambam. The Powers was picked over the most by my guests. Most of them weren't big whiskey drinker so they went by how they smell off the bottles :-). I definitely would grab John Lane later this week. Anyhow, I am new to your channel but I recommend you try Indian Single Malt. The Kadhambam is 50% ABV and drink very smooth for its strength, very complex (sweet, dark fruit, nutty, subtle smoke with long finish) it was less hot than RB 12 yr CS so to me I feel it contains much older juice. I had my bottle 4-5 yrs ago but just cracked it opened. Two different flavor profile whiskey though but was pleasantly surprises how good the Kadhambam was.
Great show Jason. Irish whiskies offer a nice change from bourbon when you’re in the mood for something different. Love Red Breast 12 YO Cask Strength. And to date, my overall favorite whiskey is Midleton Very Rare 2017, delicious. Slainte!
Thank you for the super informative video and I appreciate delving into some different whiskeys outside of bourbon even though right now I'm deep into a bourbon run.. But I want to ask something I don't know .. can you do a video on non chill filtered versus chill filtered and what it means and which whiskeys do it and which don't?
I love Redbreast 12 and Green Spot. Unfortunately, Power's Three Swallows and John's Lane are not available around here (I'm not in the boonies, I'm in Silicon Valley). I've wanted to try them for a long time, I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks for a great review.
Agree with all these choices, Busker releases a single pot still which for the price is great although not as complex as most of the others on this list worth a try for informing the palate & Teeling Pot Still (which I noticed on the shelf there) is probably my top pick, John’s Lane a very close second and I think it’s because of the higher unmalted barley content (50/50 if I remember correctly) lots of spices, creamy and chocolate stone fruits in the tail end. Great video overall!
I have not bought any Spot Whiskey. You got me interested in Teeling and own their core lineup except black pits. Red Breast is in my collection also I am looking for their PX cask. Great job Jason. Keep on Tubeing!
HA! Bro, you read my mind. I was just researching new Irish pot still whiskeys to try yesterday. I just looked and I can't find Powers Lane edition anywhere. Redbreast Small Batch is still my favorite.
I have recently been checking out these whiskeys, Although I love the Redbreast 12 and Powers Johns lane 12 for about $80.00 bucks, I Just got a Teeling for about 1/2 the price and it is just as enjoyable.
Good choices, all, but that John's Lane is my favorite as well. A real eye opener when it was released here around 10 years ago. I bought several bottles with the old packaging and still working through those. Slainte!
I LOVE seeing the Irish Single Pot Still get some attention. You should reach out to Barry Chandler from Stories and Sips sometime, he's showcasing all of the new distilleries and products coming out of Ireland right now.
Love the stuff you talked about! I have them all. Been getting into Irish a LOT the last year. The new RB PX is also wonderful. Going to go back thru some of your other episodes now. Keep up the good work!
You are right about the John Lane Powers edition very nice Powers Three Swallows is kinda of a bourbon to me but great value, the very evening I am watching your vblog I am drinking Eagle Rare ! Good review look forward to more I live in Dublin Ireland hence the irony.
I love Redbreast 12. It's light on flavor, as you pointed out, but what's there is excellent. The finish is where it shines for me. It seems to hit the sides of my tongue and cheeks a few seconds after I swallow with a nice pineapple/dark fruit character.
Great review! A wealth of information. BUT, you had the Teeling Pot Still right behind you the whole time! I thought you were going to comment on that!
Blue Spot was mind blowingly good. Just blows any other pot still Irish Whisky away. Although I have yet to try the special Irish Oak finished ones my Midleton, and the Redbreast 27.
Fantastic review. Every pick is absolutely worthy of the mention but I 100% agree with you that the John's Lane is dollar for dollar probably the best all around Single Pot Still on the market right now.
Nice video. In Bulgaria where I live the highest price/quality ratio single pot still whiskeys are Powers 12 John's Lane (~26 $ for 0.7 l), Redbreast 12 Cask Strength (~45 $ for 0.7 l) and Redbreast 15 (~51 $ for 0.7 l). The "color spots" are not available around here save for the Green Spot every now and then, overpriced. Cheers!
Redbreast Cask Strength is my overall favorite value pick in single pot still. Unfortunately it is only available online these days. Fortunately Irish whiskey is still reasonably priced online. Cheers
Glendalough's pot still is still sourcing from West Cork (probably blending it with their potstill whiskey as well since they don't say "single" on their bottling). I really enjoy that bottle, totally in left field for me with how savory it is. There isn't many distilleries putting out pot still whiskey (yet).. it's pretty dominated by the Midleton conglomerate..
Nicely done Jason. Many of us are getting "Bourbon burnout" and a nice Irish is a refreshing change of pace.
Im with ya!
For sure. Chasing bourbon and their ever increasing prices is getting so old. I’m gravitating towards Irish and scotch these days.
Great list, I appreciate every one of these offerings and would add Writers Tears, the Double Oak is amazing.

Blue Spot is such a banger. Still need to try the John's Lane and Three Swallow.

Great job, Jason! Perfect timing, my first Blue Spot, and next Montelena arrived today. Cheers!

First whiskey I had, neat, when I arrived in Dublin was the John's Lane release- 2017. It was day 1, after dinner at the Brazen Head, 1st week of June
Jason. Thank you. As usual top notch and informative reviews.

I always learn something from the whiskey professor.
Great video, I am a big Irish whiskey fan. Redbreast CK is my go to, also like the spot whiskeys as well.

100% agree on John’s Lane. So hard to find in TX now.

Great classy video, learned something new, was able to try blue spot at a whiskey bar, was fabulous, never seen it in the wild however.
Love the stuff you talked about! I have them all. Been getting into Irish a LOT the last year. The new RB PX is also wonderful. Going to go back thru some of your other episodes now. Keep up the good work!
Slanté from C-Town. This review was right on time. Gotta find me some of that Powers 12 year. Great channel you got here!
Nice video..
I just picked up the Redbreast 12 CS..batch B1-17...a real cracker!
Cheers..

I only tried Redbreast 12, and I quite enjoy it! Glad to know there's some great other options out there for me to try next!

Thanks for your guidance Donald! You are the Yoda. Lol

I would call Teeling the first new craft distillery in Ireland over Glendalough. Both have used a ton of Cooley whisky for their stuff
You are the best!!! Thank you
Great stuff, I’m gonna try to find that John’s Lane release.
Blue 🔵 is incredible
Nice review buddy, look forward to seeing you the next time you make it down to Union Ky and Union 42 Bourbon & Brew with Bobby Z and Sam🥃
Good stuff Jason . As always you have given even more Whiskeys to add to the list . Gana have to look for that Powers . Nice lists , Thanks bud 🥃
Great work on this.
Blue spots amazing......💙
Thanks J! Great as always!
Great video. Thanks for the info
since Blue Spot is essentially impossible to find even at 2x msrp, id go with Redbreast CS, Yellow Spot & Johns Lane in the $60-$90 range.
Wonderful video
Great review as always. My only complaint is everytime you and Fred review a whiskey there is run on it!
Need the glasses you use for this! Where can i get them?
May I ask what glass you are using for this video?
It's called a Copita glass
One of these years I will find a Blue Spot. Until then, that Redbreast 12CS will stay my jam.
Irish whiskey is absolutely amazing that red breast I need to get my hands on I’ve heard great things about it and great video

100% Agreed

LOL. It might have been
@@TheMashandDrum 😂👍🏽
"on the shelf" for John's Lane is a bit of a stretch... thats very hard to find most of the time.
8 bottles in all of Virginia in only two stores by DC. But I might take a shot!
I looked and couldn't find it in Indiana, would have to drive to Michigan!
👍👍
