Don't get me wrong-I'm not trying to criticize any platform-but I feel that many Colonist rivals opt for a more elaborate design, which can make the game harder to follow. In contrast, Colonist's simpler and cleaner art style help players focus better on the match
Totally get where you're coming from-everyone has their own style preferences! We've actually had a lot of positive feedback on our visuals too. It's all part of our artistic vision, and while it might seem a bit different at first, we think it brings a unique charm to the game. I’d recommend giving it a go-you might just find yourself falling for it! :) After all, beauty is in the eye of the dice roller, right
@@PioneersGameyou can always add a toggle switch to disable some of the animations etc? the dice rolling and timer filling up are distracting to me, just like the big "it's ...'s turn!",
Thanks for the feedback! 🙌 The video you're seeing is from a tournament about a month ago, and since then, we've actually rolled out two new builds focused on improving the UI/UX, especially for mobile. We've also made the numbers bigger and enhanced overall clarity. We'd love for you to give it another try and see the improvements firsthand-it's always evolving! 😊
Thank you! 😊 We love them too-those little townspeople really bring the board to life, right? We're all about adding those small details to enhance the experience. I get that if you're used to Colonist's style, trying something different can be a bit of a shock at first. But I really believe if you give it a go, you'll not only get used to it but maybe even fall in love with our vision! 💕
Pioneer looks pretty nice, needs counter trade and I like some of the animations on colonist, maybe they can take inspiration from that. GG as always Drew
As someone who is making a digital adaptation of a different board game, I am glad to see that there is enough money in these things to support four (?) competing Catan websites.
What impressed me with Pioneers specifically is that they have built an entire tournament system that runs within their platform. This is a unique feature that no other platform has yet developed and I appreciated that innovation. At the end of the day, the Colonist content is not going anywhere and considering we will doing some great charity work with this, I was happy to offer the community something fun and different.
Watching the placements, I was really expecting 4th to take 6-9-3 and 4-8-10 and be the OWS guy. Best ore, best sheep, best wheat, some extra brick to take to the 3:1 ports, and possibility (but not likelyhood) of internal road. His placements made me think he might be trying for a road game, but he never attempted it. Not quite sure exactly what the thought process was there, maybe just greeding for expands? I also echo the small numbers sentiment, I don't really mind the aesthetic shift, but the numbers should be big and easily read at a glance. Maybe I'm just used to Colonist's, but these ones definitely seemed smaller and harder to read.
Thanks for the feedback! 😊 We’ve actually made some improvements in the latest updates, including bigger numbers and a cleaner board design. Do check it out and let us know what you think!
Pioneers appears to be an open source version of Catan that was abandoned in July of 2021. Guessing this is an older video or Drew might be helping to revive the project.
2sheep and this pioneers went for such a cartoon aesthetic. Is there an option for plain and legible colors on this platform? It's so hard to see what's going on.
I felt the same way at first, with being used to 90's style colonist graphics, but, as with anything new, takes some getting used to, now i love it :) especially with some real cash in my account haha :D i'm aly c in this game btw, hehe
The screen is horizontally oriented. To maximize viewing, they should not have anything at the header or footer. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much open and wasted space on the right side.
Yes, perfect space for some annoying ads 😈 (just kidding)! We actually use that space for things like trades, the bank, and game logs when they’re opened up. Keeps the important stuff easily accessible while keeping the board clean!
In September, we rolled out two updates specifically focused on improving UI/UX for smaller screens. We'd love for you to check it out and let us know what you think now!
@@citameitene1 the points of interest are all so far apart, i have to look from left to right to gather all necessary information about the game. Overall they should just copy colonist for example, having the players data displayed horizontally on top of the screen forces you to scan a whole line, when they could all be neatly stacked vertically the numbers on the tiles are too small the settlements cities and roads blend too much with the board, there is no hard contrast on the pieces to make it really obvious at first glance the worst of all is the system to display the resources, having W 0 B 0 S 0 W 0 O 0, is a very bad way to display. You dont need to display 0 of something you dont have. Its super confusing to indentify how much of a resource you currently have, you might even miss it. Once again should just copy colonist that you have a graphical representation of your resource and you really see your hand grow as you get more and more, instead you will see W 1 B 2 S 0 W 0 O 7, this is once again cluttering And this is just as a viewer, dont know what it would be like as a player Once again, they shouldnt be afraid to just copy colonist. Cluster all the important information all in the same place, make things easy on the eyes to prevent extreme strain, avoid having to look at each corner of the screen when gathering information of the state of the game

Maybe you should try the current UX, its different than the video
100% I struggle to watch any other catan platform on youtube.
TwoSheep has made some tweaks to make the board easier to read.

Its great to have more catan websites, But the design its really hard to visualize, there should be less detail, and much bigger numbers inside
Pioneers have made improvements to the board appearance since this game. It looks much cleaner and easier to play on!

LFG vibes only! Thank you!
I get the confusing visuals on the platform, but you can't deny that the townspeople animations are adorable 💕

They have counter trades now :) The visuals take some getting used to as with anything new, now its my fave!

Pioneers is 🔥.
Its insane how much the platform improved since this game was recorded a few weeks ago!
Looking forward to play the tournament!
We are updating consistently! 💪

What are these other online catan clones trying to accomplish that Colonists doesn’t?
This is probably catan from stream that was way before colonist
I don't know, but if someone make a colonist clone where @DandyDrew (specifically) is not able to move the board, I would support it.
Make money, probably

The board is too busy, and the numbers are so small, imo.
This is older version of the game, the UX is more different now

3min in, i kinda like the no intro. nice change of pace. get right into the match.

Notes as a watcher on this new platform. Very hard to view on a phone. Numbers too small and border at top and bottom shrink everything
now there's improvements on mobile :)

brutal user interface
Brutally good, you mean? 😄 But seriously, we're always improving-hope you'll give it another shot!

I HATE the look of that UI on whatever app this is. lol
Man I thought the other platform Drew plays on was terrible until I saw this. This platform is god awful.
