One of the biggest take aways I’ve had from your channel is to not block the resource you want. Blocking sheep when there’s a scarcity slows down the whole table.
Good point! It comes down to supply and demand… if you need a resource, you either allow it to roll or you port for it. Ideally you want to have a resource on the board and you can make favorable deals for it.
could've won with 11 if you hadn't done that last pop. City -> RB -> settle -> longest road
or double city and then longest road
Just to be clear, 11 points doesn’t give me more ELO… just more of an ego boost 😂
@@dandydrew omg you said you wanted 11 points on some other video so I thought It gave more elo LOL
@@davidrodrigues9406 11 points matters during tournaments! Not in ranked though.
flex the production/dice luck ; )@@dandydrew
Just wanna say I’m been watching you a lot recently and I’ve picked up on some things that really improved my game thanks man cheers!
Gg! Close one, this was a while back. Taught me a good lesson about popping instead of citying
I think that was our first game! Awesome playing with you Nuke and damn, you got CLOSE on this one.
I think it would be fun to watch dandy playing in like higher level private games of some sort with a bunch of friends who are also great at catan rather than playing online ranked which sometimes seems to get demotivating
interesting play on that brick wood spot. my guess is that an average player couldn't manage those trades. your table talk is top tier in this one
62 is a risky play and usually I would say, take the 942 and work your way to the port. The advantage of starting on the 942 is that you might be able to build up a city quickly and end up snagging army first! In hindsight, 62 might actually be a mistake since if we didn’t pull the RB at the end, it’s like we lose. It was a fun game nonetheless!
@@dandydrew I disagree in the sense that you could have expanded even more quickly if people had been reasonable about trading for your wood. OTOH, you might have gotten bogged down by buying dev cards from those trades, rather than building to 10 and road play. (I can't read your mind; I just watch the videos.) Just to be clear, I would NEVER have seen the 6:2 play as an advantage in the first place.
Great game! I was thinking at the beginning extorting red for his starting wheat not to plow him would’ve been a good idea, doubt he would’ve taken that after watching but just an idea
Last turn had city city road for 11. Orbit before that had pop road for potential
aww you could have built one more road at the end...
Lucky I guess. Blue would have won if you didn't pull road builder. He was pulling for win and definitely could have settled next turn. Also the penultimate turn where you timed out worked in your favour
Sinless here, sweet game!
What up champ 🎉
Most of the players had a good set up. Black seemed best with the wheat port.
The wheat port play was great. We got luckily army was not taken sooner at it gives both black and blue the win!
Why the sheep port > brick port first?
Great question! Given the fact that I am most likely building to 10, I need every quick settle I can get. Looking the sheep port to black with a RB would slow me down. Also getting more brick could offer some potential longest road plays. After the 8510 city the 8 also becomes a free card. Too many advantages with getting the sheep port first!
wow normal dice roll game. i get the worst rolls. had a game where my 6 rolled x4 but the 8 rolled x16. was literally unplayable
18:20 his problem is he doesn't think he'll win!
I don't think they were being unreasonable about trading in the beginning. You had best brick, wood, and sheep production, and second best ore, and a 3:1. if you got the 249, you'd have the good everything, and definitely would be first to 4 settlements. even with the delay, you got your 4th right after blue. Also you were trading sheep, something none of them need, for brick, something which you produce the most of, and no one had rolled yet. Blue had already used his starting brick, so you're basically asking red to trade one half of his road for the other half. Granted, he missed on the last trade you offered him after the 11 rolled, and that was stubbornness. IMO your setup had the most potential from beginning to end as you've got three obvious settle spots that are uncontested with good production in everything and ports for everything else. I usually like your commentary, but sometimes I think you don't see things from your opponents perspective
I think it's partly because of table-talking. He NEEDS to convince people that his setup is not so good, and you are the most convincing when you actually believe it as well. :P
Is it just me or have the dice have been a bit whacky lately? Trying to find a good excuse to why I suck 😢
yeah the dice worldwide have been acting up man, quite normal around this time of year
Is PipsDaCat Delyghted??
Nope and thank goodness that’s the case.
I think he's used that tag before lol@@dandydrew
@@jeremyborn4503Dylan used a similar tag but not this one. We actually played PipsDaCat on the Jack Usher video and he wasn’t the nicest person.
I played black the other day, he was just as obnoxious. It’s everyone else’s fault he loses
What a legend game.
Like, comment, watch
Dandy, why do you never emphasize the importance of the "net resources gained" statistic (third from the left after VP in resource summary)? This is the actual measure of production, in my mind, as opposed to resources gained from rolling dice. Granted, if all of your losses come from 7 out and robs when you are running away with the game, I suppose the resources gained from rolling ARE more important...
Your tabletalk stinks this game
Youre not a pro😂😂
I would recommend you start your own channel and show us how you get to #1 rank 😎
