Jobson, Wakeman, Emerson, Lord to name the best of an era long gone. Jobsons soundscapes and pure virtuosity on the keys let alone a genius in synthesizer cutting technology of the day sets these guys apart from all other mere "keyboardists" IMHO.
Eddie Jobson has been one of my music idols when I was young. I did an instrumental cover of Carrying No Cross about 15 years ago that I recently posted on RUclips. I hope by some generous act of fate he hears it. I'm no Eddie Jobson, not by any means, but he has been a major influence on my work. Thank you, Mr. Jobson. 🎹🎻
I saw Eddie with Curved Air in a small disco in Stuttgart in the 70s. That had a decisive influence on my musical direction. An experience without equal !👍👍👍💪💪💪
What is that song at 0:50 ? --Is it really from Curved Air?-- Ok, found it. It's _Metamorphosis_ from 1973's Air Cut album. Man! I'm looking for this tunes for years!
Eddie Jobson was on par with such big names in prog as Rick Wakeman and Tony Banks. He was considered as Yes keyboardist , but withdrawn himself when Tony Kaye re-joined the band for 90125
The others were no less great...I think Danger Money is better than the First U.K and I saw that group (with Bruford) at a free concert, here in philly, when they first came to the U.S....Bozzio is a better drummer than Bill...I love them both, but, ya gotta give the nod to the dimension Bozzio added to U.K...
@@godbluffvdgg I saw both tours too, the original line up was far superior, everyone knows that. Bozzio is better than Bruford?, ha ha ha!, Danny Carey and Neal Peart both cite Bruford as as a major inspiration and influence. Peart invited Bruford to play on his 1994 album, "Burning for Buddy A Tribute to the Music of Buddy Rich", not Bozzio, then there's Bruford's enormous body of pioneering and innovative work that doesn't include playing in Missing Persons. My god where do you kunts come from?.
@@Chuckles.. I've had this same argument with fellow prog heads... Are you a drummer? I'm going to say no. Well, I'm a trained drummer for 45 plus years, what I forgot about drumming; you'll never know... I love Bruford and he's very important to me, and influenced much of my playing and made me a better " in the pocket" player as well as developing Off Beat tempos...But... Technically; Bozzio is a better drummer... I of course love Bill's work with Yes and Crimso more than Bozzio's work with Zappa and Missing persons but; Call a spade a spade. And I'm from Philly, thanks for asking!
Should anyone wish to hear hours of Jobson's compositions you've never heard before... check out Nash Bridges TV show which fully highlites Jobson as the greatest score writer ever.
One of the most brilliant musicians to ever associate themselves with rock.I read that he made no money with U.K, and he quit playing with bands to do commercials and soundtracks for thirty years because of the ignorance of the public.....
So lucky I came from the background of Yes and got to follow Eddie from his early days on. Overlooked (as there was no footage) was his work on Zinc. I've seen him with the Trio back in the day through his time with John and Marco repeatedly. Keith, Eddie, and Rick are the triumvirate!!!!
At 5:38 you should have shown the photo of him from the Zappa In New York album cover where he's playing a Minimoog. Although he is pictured on the cover of Zoot Allures, he does not play on the album.
I always have my moments of fantasy with the dream team of prog rock.... Just imagine a line up with: - Eddie Jobson - Keyboard/vocals - John Wetton - Bass/vocals - Phil Collins - Drums/vocals - David Gilmour - Guitar/vocals It would have been the best band ever!!!!!!! Mister Eddie Jobson, a real real real genius of music!!
I think Eddie Jobson is one the very best Prog keyboardist in the world and compositionally an absolute genius ….He and Jordan Rudess is like comparing Bach to Handel…technically they can both do what the other can do …
@@artrock5741 Yeah! Can't stand Rudess' playing -- all technicality but lifeless -- but Jobson's sensitivity, even in the midst of all the keyboard-wizardry, is unparalleled.
Does anyone know how Eddie the sound is made which starts at 5:39 (Zappa/Zoot Allures). I wonder if it might be a Hammond but 'doped' in some way. What at sound (and what a musician).
absolutely!! Eddie has the power and creativity like Keith - I was at the NAMM show years ago and heard that sound of UK - there was Eddie demoing a keyboard - ( there is a youtube vid ) awesome musician! went to Mortons that night for dinner and he was sitting next to us
There are not enough superlatives to adequately describe Eddie Jobson's talent and ability. The man is quite simply out of this world.
Finally somebody gives a tribute to a musician deserving of acclaim.
Jobson, Wakeman, Emerson, Lord to name the best of an era long gone. Jobsons soundscapes and pure virtuosity on the keys let alone a genius in synthesizer cutting technology of the day sets these guys apart from all other mere "keyboardists" IMHO.
so proud that he is from my hometown of billingham.
Dont forget Tony Banks
Don't forget Rod Argent !!
Yes indeed I totally agree ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Jon Lord s quite up there. don't underestimate his contributions to the hard rock piano keyboard virtuoso 70s era.
3:29 The solo section of "Carrying No Cross" - the most epic moment of all of the UK albums to me. Pretty incredible to see it live.
Jobson most underrated electric keyboard player of 70s prog.
Without peer, a musical genius who bridges the classical/rock gap better than anyone I’ve seen. Been a fan for 46 yrs
saw him play with frank zappa
Maybe Keith and Rick....

Eddie Jobson is magical.
A brilliant player, composer and synthesist, an amazing talent!
UK is the best, ever! Eddie is a genius. Thanks for including the previously unreleased clip at 6:01. I hope that tour is released on video someday!
Time for a new instrumental keyboard album.
I saw Eddie with Curved Air in a small disco in Stuttgart in the 70s.

An experience without equal !👍👍👍💪💪💪
Wow! I had no idea how great he is. Thanks for this!
Unforgettable keyboards, the sound of my lifetime.
One of the geniuses of our time. We are lucky to live in the same time as E.J.

WOW...Love Eddie...Cool to see him with Ian and the Boys playing Songs FTW...I guess Jeffery was on vacation...His work in U.K is his Magnum Opus...
The best Keyboardist ever, what a huge sound master is MrJobson
Well deserved tribute !!! Unfortunately, very underrated genius. Long life Eddie !!!!
Underrated? By who?
Wish he got his shot in YES. Would have been a great fit, IMO.
I was at the 1979 UK show in Philly
One giant among tiny rock musicians. The grass trully is greener on the other side. Love that album.

Like most musicians... and prog never really made money. yes and Genesis crossed over with bad (good for a pop band) pop songs.
Excellent Tribute Video!
Excelente ...muy buen musico...lastima q no hay videos de las giras con Zappa

Que bueno ver estos musicos, cuando a mis 14 años los disfrutaba atravez del long play ahora a mis 61 en videos HD pura felicidad

Fantastic Player
Does this man ever make a mistake, a false note? Otherworldly…
como suenan esas chapas.
about 8:10 er 8:12 to 8:26 what is this clip from?
I think it's the 'Reunion' video
Alaska pretty sure is the song
Someone needs to ID all the keys he is playing in this
What's the first song?
"Songs from the wood" - Jethro Tull
The only true successor to Emerson.
absolutely!! Eddie has the power and creativity like Keith - I was at the NAMM show years ago and heard that sound of UK - there was Eddie demoing a keyboard - ( there is a youtube vid ) awesome musician! went to Mortons that night for dinner and he was sitting next to us

Agreed.
What were you doing at 18years old?
Playing Karn Evil 9 with bass player and drummer at a high school talent show.
I'm 18 and I'm watching this instead of being one of the best musician of my generation
5:37 - greatest Minimoog solo, ever (worst song title, ever).
