THE most beautiful voice. John Wetton RIP. Eddie Jobson is the most brilliant keyboardist ever in my opinion. Alex Machacek: incredible. Marco Minnermann: equally incredible. I cant get enough of UK and never will. Been playing 50 years and going strong myself. These are my gods.
@@BigBass-xf5yi Exactly ! I could also add Gino Vannelli to the pack. Similar genre, and brilliant musicianship. Especially Brother To Brother, A Pauper In Paradise etc.
Yes, WAY ahead of its time indeed and one of the very best albums - of any genre - ever made. What a wonderful era of astonishingly brilliant music it was.
I will go out on a limb and say the 1st UK album is my favorite album OF ALL TIME - weather it be rock/jazz/ progressive or ANY style of music. It is an absolute 10 from the first song to the last.
He starts by saying the song was too difficult, then proceeds to knock it clear out of the park. The drummer covering for Bruford and the guitarist for Holdsworth played just phenomenally. Bravo my kind gentleman, bravo. The intro for me was a tribute to the late Allan Holdsworth. What a guy he was. What a guy.....
A stunning performance of what has to be one of my favourite tracks from the two superb albums from UK, there should have been more from such a stellar band. I cannot believe how perfectly these guys recreate the original song so well. All credit to the musicians, a performance of the highest order from each of them.
My all time favorite UK song. John Wetton sounded perfect right up to the very end of his life. A shining star in progressive rock music. Minneman does a great Bruford. Alex Machacek also channeling the impossible guitar of Holdsworth. And Jobson is right on point. This is an EXCELLENT VIDEO. Thank you so much for posting. It gave me goosebumps.
This a superb composition by A. Holdsworth. Jobson's arrangement and keyboard parts are phenomenal, the ending is transcendental, The guitar captures the Holdsworth spirit, Wetton's voice is sensational and Minneman does an excellent job at the drumkit.
This little hidden gem never ever got played live at all by the original UK lineup and it's really nice to see this track finally get performed on stage. Jobson and Wetton sound fantastic as always while Marco Minnemann and Alex Machacek do an outstanding job playing the parts of Bruford and Holdsworth but still sounding like themselves. Great performance!
I remember long long ago learning the drum beat at 2:33 by Bruford. It was such a cool snappy thing to play with the snare, high hat and bass beats so packed together in a cool way that only Bruford could create. It became one of the beats I played for years after. Just felt so fun to do. There were other Bruford beats and fills that I leaned off the UK album. It was my favorite Bruford material. That and UK, and his solo stuff. The Yes stuff, good, but just doesn't compare to this. Bruford really spreads his wings and flies on this stuff. This drummer, Marco Minnermann, did a great job of playing Bruford's material. His snare tune sounds pretty much spot on.
I loved John Wetton vocals...R.I.P John Wetton and the Great Allan Holdsworth. A very happy time in my young life studying Allan Holdsworth John Wetton and Bill Bruford
This was the most perfect progresive album ever. I dont think there is a much prefect album as this. Marco & Alex do an amazing reproduction of the sound feel & music with the amazing singing bass playing by the late Mr Wetton and above all that the Maestro Mr.Jobson the wizard. The music & technical abilities is some kind of witchery...
Now, I understand why I can't stop listening to this song, especially in difficult times that we live in now ... "They never played it in live shows, because it is very difficult to be reproduced" ... Your legacy will never die .. Geniuses, again ...
The year is 1979. I'm in a record shop in Mertyl Beach, S.C. I see the record. UK? Oh hey. Bill Bruford. Why not. My jaw was never the same after hitting the floor when I heard Holdsworth. And of course Eddie dulling with Allan.
Compositionally the song is a masterwork. Some of the alternate bass notes Wetton plays under Jobson’s chords are so rich and tasteful. The main vocal line in its ascent is so unique and beautiful. This music was sent by the Gods!
On u.k. UK. Lp Excellent. He doesn't remember that OK. The 3 of them w Buford put out this beautiful peace. I love fusion. So thank you Joe for borrowing me the u.k. album because I mentioned Ponty. Then John to asia they killed it. Love that bass.
DanaAndra, no kidding on the Allan Holdsworth guitar lick-study. Also, I believe I read/heard somewhere that Alex Machacek played with Holdsworth himself, at some time in the past.
This is such a brilliant performance. Brought tears to my eyes for many different reasons. Suffice it to say Machacek and Minneman are the only two that could make their parts there own and yet stay true to the music. Bravo! RIP Mr Wetton.
Absolutely a beautiful piece of music here. Immense talent. Jobson and Wetton on top of their game. Wow, Marco & Alex a perfect fit for Bill Bruford and the great Alan Holdsworth. Precision, well done.
Damn, I found this now. What a shame. The sickest prog album ever. Of course, along with ELP's Tarkus.. RIP dear Allan and dear John.. You can't imagine how I owe you so much.
It is refreshing to hear an audience show respect to both the artist and the music. They wait to the very last note on drums is played before bursting into appropriate applause. Had I been there, I might still be standing. Absolutely brilliant.
Still, one of the most perfect progressive music albums ever made! Alex's melodic phrasing is sublime, but Eddie Jobson's keyboards are just amazing, especially the synth solo with tradoffs between him and Alex. Simply fantastic musicianship!!
I must agree...I first heard the UK album upon it's release. I'm still so impressed after decades. I thank Martin Bayless (extraordinary keyboardist, composer, band mate, life long inspiration and my friend) for introducing me to what is possible... These guys are been wonderful.
This is beyond impressive, hats off to Alex and Marco for doing such beautiful justice to such a piece of musical magic, so sad to have lost both John and Allen, this music is timeless, I hope to again find it here in my next lifetime!
Brings back some great memories of first hearing this album years ago. In fact, I still have it! . Beautiful, exceptional, and timeless. Thank you for sharing your gifts. The cool and respectful thing is that the guitarist and drummer are honoring Holdsworth and Bruford by playing some of their irreplaceable parts. 🙏🏾
It’s amazing that they just let John carry it without any album harmony. He sounds immaculate. What an absolute thrill to hear that song live- barely a note out of place. A gem.
❤I Love You ❤️ john and miss you tons I have loved all of you beautiful music 🎶 😊 And I was blessed to see you guys in concert on my 16th birthday It was an awesome performance to say the least You're all in my heart always ♥️ I had a Jean jacket that was covered in pins and patches lol 😂 My favorite group in the world 🌎 Thanks for everything that you did and what the other guys continue to do. brilliant music, brilliant original recording (Jobson/Wetton/Bruford/Holdsworth) --- very brilliant performance here (Jobson/Wetton/Minnemann/Machacek) --- i'm just floored every time i hear this epic composition --- indescribable, not just a "tune" --- very very special composition, full of lyrical meaning and melody and layers of gorgeous sounds.... thank you for posting this.... love it FOREVERMORE!
Agree with every word. UK is one of my all time fave bands, however this song, unlike most of their super creative pieces, is next level. Chill inducing.
My favorite singer ever his voice takes me thru great & sad times in my life with different loves I had miss him& Wettons collaboration rest in peace my friend as I write this i shed a tear as this song remind me of the love if my life she pass of cancer thank you.🙏🏼🙏🏼Mr Holdsworth & Mr.Wetton🍺🍺

un-un-unreal Allan Holdsworth believe-it Believable !!! way to go guys- this is epic ! most of us haven't seen this yet... I am convinced ALLAN greatly approves of this one... ALEX Alex Machacek (mind blowing) guitar work on UK live rendition of the love-it-forever tune (and Allan's original guitar / solo) - NEVERMORE...
The guitarist is brilliant!!! The Rachel Flowers of Guitar. He does what even Holdsworth couldn't do: play his own studios solos note for note...[it just didn't interest him].
My snobby head would not allow my ears to appreciate this line up. Holdsworth, Jobson, Bruford/ Bozzio , Wetton were my gods up there with Zeppelin! I lost my virginity's to the Alaska suite :) With all that being said , I AM UPSET WITH MYSELF FOR NOT LOVING THIS! Marco Minnemann is a monster player, Alex Machacek had the grand canyon guitar hole to fill , it is so fantastic! Wetton was a gift from above! I love this! Peace from Detroit MI.
When this composition was recorded on the first U.K. album, the Yamaha CS80 synthesizer was newly available. This work is an excellent demonstration of the capabilities of an exceptional instrument used by an extraordinary operator, For that era I think the only comparable synth soloist was Jan Hammer. The CS80 was also used by Manfred Mann on their version of 'Blinded By The Light'. In this particular version of "Nevermore' I am impressed with the ability to recreate the vintage analog sound in this stage setup. Also the title of the song goes along with an old joke of an unappreciative spectator requesting the band to play "Far, Far Away" .
Beautifully done. The technology back un the 70's just wasn't up to the task, but here they had the means to pull it off live, just beautiful beyond comprehension.
Quite incredible piece of music, shows whats possible... increadible to be able to play such a complex song live... I had the privilege to see the last ever UK gig in UK aUnder the bridge... brings tears
Какие они молодцы. То поколение. Они взяли в руки не оружие, но инструменты и голоса. Они всегда были против насилия. Сколько они создали! Вечное уважение! Лучшие люди!
I just discover this from France ,from a keyboard list .. this IS superb !!!!!!!. Understand now why Virgile donati ,why other things .. Splendid feeling inside us ,humans
Epic! I had no idea Marco Minneman played with Jobson & Wetton. I saw UK on their first tour in the 70's, this is so strong and beautifully performed! John Wettons voice is just superb. Hard to believe he is gone & of course Alan Holdsworth from the original band. Really enjoyed this, thanks for posting!
I so got my "once in a lifetime until and unless it happens again" - Eddie Jobson "fix" on U.K.'s final reunion tour in 2015 in SF. R.I.P., John Wetton! Great voice. Mike Manghini from Dream Theater was on drums and of course the amazing Alex Machacek on the guitar.

Well said 😊
It's amazing. True to Allan. Now do you❤
Still say to this day best prog /jazz rock album ever made way ahead of its time
Yes, WAY ahead of its time indeed and one of the very best albums - of any genre - ever made. What a wonderful era of astonishingly brilliant music it was.
i agree.. this was pure magic
It was - it has aged beautifully and still stands as one of the best albums ever made.
Agree. Miss Alan.
I will go out on a limb and say the 1st UK album is my favorite album OF ALL TIME - weather it be rock/jazz/ progressive or ANY style of music. It is an absolute 10 from the first song to the last.
Incredible underrated song, but one of the best in Music History. So great performance. RIP Wetton & Holdsworth.
John's voice is such a pleasure to behold. I can't believe he's not here anymore...
It's just not fair! Appreciate beauty while you can.
I can’t believe it either love him
He truly had one of those great "signature" voices. You know who it is the second you hear him.
In a sense. Mr. John Wetton is still here. His music is still with us.
I am crying as I am watching.
Same here... RIP John... RIP Alan Holdsworth, without you there wouldn’t have been “Nevermore”.
When I first saw this vid, I thought they would leave out the guitar intro, but Alex absolutely nailed it. What a great performance by all.
Thank God we have footage of this concert….never saw them live but this is the next best thing…

Also my favorite UK song. There is a calmer beauty that resonates. Amazing stuff.
Mine too. So pleased to find this. I wish I'd been there. RIP John Wetton.
Jobson so good with the electric violin and the keyboards. Really infused energy with UK, ROXY MUSIC, and ZAPPA
Love the crescendo after " Oh to go down to Soho......"
I couldn't said it better Cemegonuts.......
My favorite U.K. song. Brilliant keyboard work by Eddie Jobson including the acoustic guitar chords at the beginning.
Glad you mentioned the acoustic guitar chords. They bring immediate chills. Genius.
This a superb composition by A. Holdsworth. Jobson's arrangement and keyboard parts are phenomenal, the ending is transcendental, The guitar captures the Holdsworth spirit, Wetton's voice is sensational and Minneman does an excellent job at the drumkit.
I agree with all of that, except Jobson wrote more of Nevermore than Holdsworth did. It is, though, their best compositional collaboration IMHO.
