this is without doubt the best indie dance track - Stone Roses & Mondays were the kings - but this track was the best - reminds me of sweet innocent days of paper clips and curtains!
@@paulc4483 saw them a couple of times and were magic....got on stage to dance with them at the Astoria whilst tripping on purple ohms, last about a minute till i was thrown back into the crowd.....magic days
@@webbstar303 Ha! Nice one! I was at that gig too, Rikki banging the cymbals with a drumstick. The two Islington Powerhaus gigs were monster, and the one at London School of Economics (I think?) was top notch. Crowd went for it, stage diving etc. Truly brilliant band.
The Warehouse at Leeds, 1991-ish :) Turned up way too early and very stoned to queue outside - door staff asked if I was "from the University". Well, I was studying there so I said yes... got let in and watched support band and this lot tuning up, while being given free beer. Eventually, they realised I wasn't from The Leeds Student newspaper, I was actually just a Leeds student, and I was gently ejected by smiling bouncers. About an hour later I was back in for the gig. It was rather good I seem to remember :)
Went to see the Angels in the WAREHOUSE, leeds.... Some guy stage dived onto hard wooden floor..... Love this tune - I am 37 - still visit this tune.........love it
🗣 *Remember hearing this on ‘Indie Top 20’ while I was doing my ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ award while hiking in the Welsh wilderness in 1991 with some Red Lebanese hash & this on my Walkman!* *Golden days!* 💯🎵👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
For me this sums up everything about that time... Madchester wasn't about Manchester it was about the whole uk... Everyone loved up... Great great times.
Have this tune on a "indie top 20 of 1991." This song is indeed the best melange of dance and indie ever. In these days so many great british bands popped up. In Germany we called it all RAVE. Most of the songs did not receive the attention they diserved.
what a track .. nearly 30 years ago ..brings me back to mini bus ASC heading back to Aberdeen with this blasting out as the pills popped ..away days tune...
just reminds me of being in The Venue on Whitworth Street....i understand it's not there anymore....happened to bump into a guy at a festival last year and I said "I'm sure i know you...." and after about 20 minutes of telling him clubs I'd been to in my life it turned out he had been a bouncer at The Venue in around '92......
WHAT. A. TUNE! This was the 1990 release which got to the heady heights of #55 on the UK chart in July that year. It was only a remix in how it differed to their earlier demo version. There was a further 'Loved Up' remix which came out in 1991.
was at the exact same gig at the leeds warehouse 1990 i think the date was....still lovin it keep da faith dreaming the dreams of the dream upwards n onwards, livin it up...
In bought the 12" cut to this back in August 1990 when this song was out and have hunted high and low for this song since then. I was 18 then and I still love and remember this band and this song. It was a bit of electronica set to alternative (well the Madchester sound) and still sounds crisp today!
used to hang out in the same pub as these, they often had fights ish with us on the 216 home but we are older now n pretty much mates if we see each other :-)
Excellent track, like many others that have commented on this video, i too had been searching for it since the nineties. i heard this on an edition of The Late Kick Off. i emailed the bbc and the producer replied with the track and artist. thanks for posting this video thanks to stuart at the bbc thank god for email addresses
My fave ever 'Madchester' type track. Saw them live in London at the Subterania in Spring 1990. Cracking. They brought their own little crew down with them. This isn't quite the best mix of the song I think, but close enough.
I was there with a small group of North Londoners. Seem to remember a bunch of Mancs with skinheads and moustaches! They came on to the BBC cricket music. Glory days.
Madre mia que temaaaaa !!!! se me ha salio el caldo de la olla, jjajjajjaa.Fantastic !!! me recuerda un poco a los Invisible Limits.Golden Dreams !!! Thans For Uplading Marktuver.
I don't live in Manchester any more, but my cousin was over here in Japan last year - I think I remember him saying the venue is still open, but somewhere else in town.
NEW Paris Angels single "Door to Summer" out now on Stereokill Records on itunes etc from unreleased 2nd lp "Eclispe" which is also out later this year. Cheers for listening x
Mark , there was a remix on a select magazine tape or something, that had vocal samples and at the beginning they were saying"where are the kids gonna go?" do you remember who mixed it?
this is a great song but the indie version is even better. it wasn't rave music though, there were loads of great indie bands going about the late 80's, too many to say but the kitchens of distinction were another great band
I can't believe I forgot how good this tune was. 26 years later and it's still awesome!
this is without doubt the best indie dance track - Stone Roses & Mondays were the kings - but this track was the best - reminds me of sweet innocent days of paper clips and curtains!
Indeed. Alongside Flowered Up they were the best live band on the circuit too. !one overdue some recognition.
*long overdue
