Check out his song, "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night that Chew Your @$$ All Night Long"... His father, a local judge, came up with the idea for the song, but it took Vince years to get around to it... Finally, a few years after his father passed, Vince and fellow singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell finally sat down and wrote it...
The two best versions of this classic are the official video, with both Vince and Rodney together, which is hilarious... There is also a live version with just Vince, where he also tells the full story of how the song came about, which is even more hilarious then the song itself... Right down to his impressions of his father...

He was with Little Jimmy Dickens who stood 4'11" and was a country and Grand Ole Opry star for decades at the end of the video there. You'll often see Jimmy in Brad Paisley videos because they are both W. Virginia natives and were buddies. The rest of the "band" though were legends in not just country music but in music in general because Vince is respected throughout all genres.

The video features a who's who of '90s country stars, including
Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, Kelly Willis, Kevin Welch, Lee Roy Parnell, Fred Young of the Kentucky Headhunters and Reba McEntire & Michael McDonald, Leon Russell, Carl Perkins and Delbert McClinton.
The gentleman who Vince walked out of the gig with was Little Jimmy Dickens....who is a mega star & very well known country music star!!!
The video really showcases the comradery between country stars, because you notice the other singers/musicians were just part of the band!

Lots of Famous Musicians in the Video. Yes, Leon Russell on Keyboards, Leland Sklar on Bass (Famous Studio and Session Bassist), Carl Perkins (Blue Suede Shoes) is beside Vince with the electric Guitar, Little Jimmy Dickens (Old Country / Opry Star) was behind him in the cowboy hat, Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers) on Keyboards, Fred Young (Kentucky Headhunters) on Drums, Timothy B. Schmidt (Eagles) with the long hair beside Vince, Pam Tillis (Red Head on the Mic), Reba McIntyre carrying the Tray, Ralph Emory from the Nashville Now TV Show, other members Kentucky Headhunters, Marty Rabon from Shenandoah, and lots of others that I couldn't immediately identify, but had seen them in some form of music.
There is a live version of Vince performing "Oklahoma Borderline". You guys should react to it. It shows what an amazing Guitar picker Vince is.

The guy in the grey shirt next to Vince was Carl Perkins ("Blue Suede Shoes"). The little guy was Little JImmie Dickens. You saw Leon Russell; the bassist with the long beard was Leland Sklar. The brunette singer with the bangs was Pam Tillis ("Mi Vida Loca", "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial"); the brunette in the white shirt was Patty Loveless ("I'm That Kind of Girl"; "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive"), the blond Kelly Willis ("Angry All The Time"). Michael McDonald on piano, next to him on keyboards Kelbert McClinton. The drummer in the green cap was from the Kentucky Headhunters ("Dumas Walker"). And of course, Reba.

1989-1996 country music was an incredible era of music. Having lived through it, a lot of us knew it was a special time akin to late 50's Rock-N-Roll. it is something that could never be recreated or manufactured - even though the music industry has tried since then. it was a "perfect storm" of incredible singers, personalities, song writers, and culture that created something incredible. People that weren't already adults then might find it hard to believe, but country was outselling every other genre and became a part of the culture so much that phrases people used in every day conversation often had their origins in country music of that era. Garth Brooks was selling out stadiums 4-7 times over in each city, and would sell out in minutes. Reba was selling out shows in less than a day. It was a special time to live through, and this reaction just brought back so many memories.

It's so wonderful 30~ years later to see a guy like Vince Gill be recognized for the talent he has by a younger generation. My dad was in Nashville producing music in the 80s and 90s and I heard about a lot of people before they broke big. Vince being one. And that man has more talent than most realize. He didn't get begged to join the Eagles more than once for no reason...

The music video, which was directed by John Lloyd Miller and premiered in late 1992, depicts Gill performing the song at a club where he is backed by several notable singers and musicians. They include (in alphabetical order): Little Jimmy Dickens, Steve Earle, Bruce Hornsby, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Delbert McClinton, Michael McDonald, Reba McEntire, Lee Roy Parnell, Carl Perkins, Leon Russell, Leland Sklar, Pam Tillis, Kevin Welch, Kelly Willis, members of the band Shenandoah and Kentucky Headhunters drummer Fred Young. McEntire was reprising her waitress role from her "Is There Life Out There" video earlier that same year. The storyline in this video was that the aforementioned performers were there to substitute for Gill's band, who were unable to show up. The video also features movie tough man & bouncer Randall "Tex" Cobb both at the beginning and then dancing later in the video.-Wikipedia
Carl Perkins wrote Blue Suede Shoes. He was the older guitarist with glasses.

Aw man- there were SO many other musicians, singers and artists in this one! I noticed you guys kinda closing your eyes and groovin with the song but you gotta pay attention the whole time! Just about every scene had some other entertainer in it. Great choice for a react- thanks!

There were many, many cameos: Michael McDonald, Leroy Parnell, Delbert McClinton, Pam Tillis, Little Jimmy Dickens, a couple of The Kentucky Headhunters and Carl Perkins. Yes, that was Leon Russell.

The man who ended the video with Vince is Little Jimmy Dickens, a country music legend. You should react to "May The Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose".

Whoa! Now THAT is a backup band! My goodness, so many huge Country stars on one song. Incredible. Thank you for doing Country/Western occasionally, guys. There are so many talented CW artists I think you'd enjoy.
But on this one video... there were probably more, but I recognized:
    - Little Jimmy Dickens
    - Leon Russell
    - Carl Perkins
    - Michael McDonald
    - Kathy Mattea (hubba, hubba)
    - Leland Skylar (not sure how he spells it)
    - Reba McEntire
    - Pam Tillis
    - And the drummer looks familiar, but can't recall his name.
    Holy moley... awesome video.

As a male singer, Vince Gill sings in a higher key than a lot of males.
He was asked to sing the star spangled banner once. The band leader asked what key he wanted to sing in because of the high note. He gave them the key and said I have no problem with high notes, I have to be careful with the low notes.
