I remember when me and my siblings would play this game, we'd be like "Shadow is black and red, how can you mistake him as blue?" Right then and there our mother came in and said "Oh no! Has Sonic gone evil?" We all went silent for a little and then started crackin' up. Guess it doesn't only effect the game characters? Lol The saddest part is when Sonic '06 came out she genuinely thought Silver was Sonic too. We explained the differences and eventually she got it. Those were really good times.
I finally understand it. Shadow is the Sonic who was never free. Instead of the boundless spirit that can take on the world, grounded by his friends, Shadow is chained by the loss. Sonic can run as far as the sun sets, Shadow is trapped in that one moment, forced to relive the pain of her death again and again and again.

Yeah, Shadow was the focus of SA2 heavily. Sucks that because of that the Hero story is pretty lame compared to Dark. (Seriously every part of the Hero story is worse except for the fake emerald scene, Rogue doesn't even have a motivation in the Hero story except "jewels")
It's the same with rhythm and balance (white jungle theme). When your playing the game you don't really notice, but when you sit and listen to it you see how well thought out and deep the songs are.

+VenomLeon SA2 had the best running animation for Shadow. When Shadow the Hedgehog game originally came out I was very excited. I thought it would be a very refined version of SA2 speed courses combined with Gamma/mech shooting, which is combining the three funnest elements of SA1 and SA2 into one solid continuous game. I was very disappointed in what the actual results were.

Fun fact: Sonic actually IS the faker. My Sonic Heroes instruction booklet states that Sonic is 16 during the events of the game, which means he's either 15 or 16 during Adventure 2. Shadow, on the other hand, was created a few more than 50 years prior to Adventure 2's story, as revealed by Tails (I think) when he says the Space Colony ARK hadn't been used in 50 years, the last time obviously being when Shadow was jettisoned to Earth and Maria was killed. Shadow is way, way older than Sonic. Also, popular theory: Since Shadow could not have been based on Sonic, his basis is the Super Sonic hieroglyphics in the Lost World stage in Adventure 1. Gerald interpreted Super Sonic as some sort of prehistoric god, and created Shadow in his image. Similarly, the Biolizard was based on Perfect Chaos, who was depicted in the same scene. So in a way, he was based on Sonic, but then Sonic was also based on Sonic, and... You know what, it just got weird.

Have you ever considered the fact that Sonic just could have been born after Shadow and it took shadow 50 years to finally meet sonic. In other words they probably aren't fakers they just think they are cause they have very similar traits and abilities.

That's what happens when you bring back a character after they're supposed to stay dead. It's why you don't make a Mother 4, that series concluded, Shadow did the same thing, except he had a "Mother 4", he was just shoehorned in due to his popularity.

Shadow just needs to keep his development from 06, his character arc hasn't ended he just needs to be in a game where he has an actual story, goals missions and is relevant to the plot not just shoehorned in every game for fanservice or is used as a popular marketing tool to attract consumers. Please note that Shiro Maekawa, the writer of SA2 and basically the creator of shadow, did *not* want him to come back for Heroes. His addition in that game goes against the creator's wishes, and was done purely because Shadow was a popular character. The only game in which he had an actual story was SA2, and his story there was concluded. 06 is a reboot, he's only there because it's the next gen game, so they *need* the "cool, marketable hedgie" for it to sell. His story in that game is, contrary to what some might have you believe, a complete waste of fucking time if you want something that will alter the rest of the series (since 06's story in general is just a giant fucking trainwreck that they killed off in the exact same game to avoid the trouble of continuing it), and a nonsensical mess if 06 is seen as a continuation of SA2, since the only reason Shadow would work for GUN would be him being a complete braindead moron. Seriously, you might point to that shadow 05 scene where he acts like his past is done, but that ain't no excuse to basically have him work for the people who massacred his family. Just some food for thought if you thought 06's story was actually good.
Shadow’s music, in my eyes, in this game is one of the main reasons why I hold it in higher regard than any other Sonic game. Everett Bradley accomplished something incomprehedably brilliant with his vision for the songs. They transcend genre. Examples of this, are this, Supporting Me (my favourite) and Final Chase. They’re so weird, so distorted, so ambient and require such attentiveness to grasp. They’re creatively excellent and as a music and audio engineering person myself, they’re inspiring and fun to dissect. I cannot believe they didn’t get Everett Bradley back after this game once. He brought something to the table that’s never been replicated again. A level of creativity and ingenuity to give personality and depth beyond lyrics and guitar riffs. While Sonic has maintained quality in soundtracks, no game in the series is as diverse and creative as this one. It has something for everyone. It is an absolute masterclass and for me, a top 3 soundtrack in all of gaming. From the minute this song begins you hear strange angry and volatile noises that are somehow still enticing. A brilliant introduction to a brilliant character. Shadow peaked with his introduction and never reached the same level in anything after David Humphrey left.
For those who wonder why the military "mistook" Shadow for Sonic, keep these things in mind: -It was most likely an intentional coverup like everything else related to Project: Shadow -It was ridiculously easy to scapegoat Sonic: If you were living in Sonic's world and you heard about a supersonic anthropomorphic hedgehog with an interest in Chaos Emeralds, wouldn't you immediately think "That's Sonic!"?
I think the idea was to cover up the atrocities that occurred on the ARK. Remember, as far as the public knew, there was a biological accident. There's also the fact we're not shown the perspective of any civilians when Sonic is framed. For all we know, maybe no one bought it.

The Techno- Rock suits Shadow WAY more than the harder rock that "I am... all of me" tried to go for but then again Shadow was practically a different character in that game, he didn't change majorly but still noticeable.
Yeah,this is definitely my favorite out of all of Shadow's themes.... By a huge margin. ''I am all of me'' and the others sell him as an edgelord and I like me some metal,but this one has a lot of nuance and melancholy to it,which gave Shadow a lot of character back then IMO. I also think the more electronic vibes of his old tracks stood out a lot better than his later songs.

Throw It All Away (as well as all the tracks in the game that Everett Bradley provides vocals for) will always be the most hilariously SEGA aspect of SA2 for me. This is a singer who's discography majorly consists of uplifting Soul and Funk style music about the casual beauties of life, yet SEGA and Sonic Team, the absolute madlads, said to themselves "You know what would be a good use of his talents? Industrial NIN/cybergoth style songs about nihilism and finding meaning through tragedy, hatred and nothingness." I love it.
Whats even funnier, is i just googled everett bradley, looking for other things hes done, Anything else mentioning him on youtube only has a few hundred to a few thousand views, and on his personal website, he doesnt even list anything about sonic on his body of work. Its so wierd since that seems to be the most impactful thing he's done, at least for his legacy. His tracks from SA2 have millions of views.
Okay, I feel like they don't get the context of the situation with Shadow being called Sonic. Shadow was moving around in the dark in the same area as Sonic. Last time we saw Sonic, he was captured and was in the same area escaping. Not only that, but Shadow was holding a chaos emerald. Last time Sonic transformed, it made his fur, eyes, and color change. For all they know, Shadow was another form for Sonic. After all, he did steal a chaos emerald. I mean, Shadow and Super Sonic have close to the same style of hair too. It's fair to say that they just assumed it was Sonic.

This is forever Shadow's theme to me too. I feel like the lyrics only fit his character in SA2. You can totally replace the lyrics or just use the instrumental to keep it as his theme. That's kinda what they did for One Winged Angel in Advent Children since the lyrics in Advent Children are different from the original one from FF7.
You should totally listen to Never Turn Back! I feel as if it's an amazing representation of Shadow's character finally moving on from his trauma and overcoming his hardships, especially as seen in the ending of 06.
I still like Shadow as a character, even after Shadow the Hedgehog and Heroes, I thought he was interesting, I thought he was really well done in 06 as well.
All Hail Shadow is pretty good but I prefer this. The lyrics make it sound more ominous and the “wake up” parts combined with the intense dark techno perfectly describes Shadow in this game.
Am I seriously the only one that only likes Shadow's character in SA2 And 06? Those are the only two games he experienced any character development, I hate what sega has done to him.
He was at his best in those games. He also has good character in Sonic Battle and maybe in Rivals games and the Chronicles RPG. He was also decent in Sonic Heroes, even with the amnesia affliction.

Yeah, SEGA after 06 had become very misguided when they made sonic games. They made Generations, Colors and Unleashed all great games, but essentially threw all the side characters to the way side only making brief appearances on cameos. Forces tried, but was not a strong game.
In spite of the game's story flaws, I've always found Shadow as the most interesting character. His theme song here encompasses it all! Jammin' with a bit of mystery!

@Olivia 757 SA2's story isn't hated because of the game its in. I think the 2 main flaws are the plotholes and the Chessy CGI, audio mixing and voice acting. Its funny because the game itself has the highest rating on metacritic of all Sonic games, despite only 33% of the game being the best part, with 33% being meh and those other terrible 33% (I'll let you guess which stages are the terrible ones, and which one and the meh ones. A little tip: the terrible ones involves some hunting and the meh ones has to do with clunkly vehicles). I won't talk about the CGI, audio mixing and voice acting because they're damn obvious. The plotholes aren't obvious at first, but when you get bored of laughing at the characters's terrible body movement and funny voice acting, you start to notice some holes here and there, here's some of them: - The News report that Eggman sees from his secret base in the desert confuses Shadow with Sonic, EVEN IF THEY HAVE A CLEAR VIEW OF SHADOW. if there was barely any light directly to Shadow in that scene, since he's on a higher altitude, and there was no Zoom on his face, then It would be more believable, but the fact the News's get a clear shot from Shadow, which looks drastically different than Sonic, and STILL CALLS HIM SONIC is forced and laughable, its like the people in Sonic's universe has never saw 2 different Hedgehogs and think Sonic is the only one from its kind. Oh wait, Station Square did already: AMY freaking lived there, so there's no excuse for this oversight on the writting. - G.U.N Soldiers also thinks Sonic is Shadow, despite not only they being colored differently, but their shoes and spines are different, Shadow also has Chest hair and rings around his gloves. Throught in this instance I think G.U.N Soldiers know they're different and are just following orders from their higher ups, while G.U.N itself is also incriminating Sonic to drive attention away from their Secret Weapon that has escaped. So you can ignore this one if you want. - Gerald getting arrested, having enough time to give a speech before his death in the same room as G.U.N soldiers are, and this speech somehow gets uploaded to the ark on his diary, and ALSO was programmed to trigger the falling sequence from the Colony once all emeralds power up the Eclipse Cannon. Do I ever need to explain why this sounds forced? I don't think I need. - Sonic learns how to use Chaos Control out of nowhere. He didn't practice it at any point during the game, Only saw Shadow do it Once, and to make it better: he did it with a fake, less powerful emerald. Question: How? Answer: plot armour to make eggman's genius and actual elaborated plan backfires when he should've won so the protagonist don't die and kids and adults don't cry about an antrophomorphic animal getting blown up in a capsule in Space. And to make it EVEN BETTER: He not only warped himself EXACTLY on the same room as Knuckles, but he can also use his Chaos Control while fighting Shadow... What? - Rouge somehow being a dumbass and slipping off the plataform Knuckles and She were after fighting for the pieces of the Master emerald, temporally forgetting she's a fucking Bat and can just fly before falling to her doom, just for a very funny "dramatic moment" and so Knuckles can save her so she can call him a Perv. Also to make the community go wild and ship them even harder than they were already possible. - One of Tails's Stages is literally to escape the Military after they get located when Eggman destroy the moon in half. YET HE SIMPLY DOESN'T TURN HIS MECH INTO A PLANE AND FLY AWAY, apparently Tails's forgot that his mech can fly for one entire mission, incredible. - When they have to find the entrance to eggman's hidden base, Tails's would've done it much quicker if he just got out of his Mech and flied with his tails like he was supposed to. Apparently Tails's is jealous of Eggman's Egg walker and wanna show off how much cooler his mech is. (spoilers: its not, The Egg walker feels better to control and Eggman's stages are much better than the Tails's, another downside of being included at the last minute of the game's development) and that's just a few. Anyways its not like the 3D games's stories aren't inconsistent as hell, Heroes, 06, Shadow the hedgehog, Jesus, Shadow the hedgehog has the most bullshit storyline from any 3D sonic game from this era. It has everything from SA2 and even worse: worse Voice acting, Mediocre Story with way too many options, more than it should, terrible level design, terrible controls, Terrible Hero and Dark missions, Worst characterization of secondary characters, like the G.U.N general Blaming Shadow for Maria's death, when it was G.U.N that stormed the place and the dumbass is working FOR G.U.N, what is logic in the Sonic universe? Shadow the Hedgehog is the most edgy and nonsensical game I've ever seen, at least its meme material, like SA2. SA2's story isn't all this perfection the die-hard 3D sonic fans claims to be. What makes it look good however is the well developed characters from the game. Characters are way more fleshed out in the Adventure era and that makes the story look way better despite its plotholes and laughable cutscenes. Shadow's troubled past, fooling Eggman to activate the eclipse Cannon to kill everyone on Earth, then realizing his actual purpose on the world and "dying" feeling satysfied with what he accomplished in homegane to his dead friend. Eggman being actually represented as a Threath, unlike the newer games were he's just a joke villain. He stormed G.U.N's military base and destroyed everything on his path, freed shadow and then used his knowledge for his goals until he realized his grandfather planned total annihilation for Earth and had to team up with Sonic to save Earth. He was his best Version in this game and Sonic Unleashed. Rouge and Knuckles being well... a girl and a boy interacting with each other so the kids can pretend they will marry one day or something like that, and for the degenerates to go wild with them. Their interactions and with their team are still good nonetheless and adds value to the story. Tails's... well, despite being crippled for the majority of the game, is still a good representation from his SA1 version, and there's even a throwback at him feeling more confident at the penultimate boss of Hero's story, where he fights eggman alone after everyone thinks Sonic has died, and wins because he's the good guy. Sonic is still Sonic in this game. He's still the same nowadays and seems to be like the only Character SEGA tries to NOT screw up with his personality. SA2 shows that if the characters are well written, it can make up for the story. That's what makes a game like Forces terrible story-wise: Characters in Forces, with exception of Sonic. Are downgrades from their initial debuts, and that's something SEGA will always screw up with.

I love how this song was used to introduce us to Shadow in the Heroes story on Sonic Adventure 2. It gave him a mysterious yet menacing vibe for his story until we eventually learned about his past. I love "All of Me," but this song was made to be the introduction for Shadow and I love it.

As a kid growing up I never had the privilege to play systems growing up since I was born in Mexico but when I came to the US they were more common and got to experience the joy. but I remember I bought the GameCube with all the allowance I saved up and sonic adventure 2 , it was my first game and system I’ve ever owned, But I’m glad I got to experience this, once in a life time feeling. When Shadow the Hedgehog game originally came out I was very excited. I thought it would be a very refined version of SA2 speed courses combined with Gamma/mech shooting, which is combining the three funnest elements of SA1 and SA2 into one solid continuous game.

Fun fact: Sonic actually IS the faker. My Sonic Heroes instruction booklet states that Sonic is 16 during the events of the game, which means he's either 15 or 16 during Adventure 2. Shadow, on the other hand, was created a few more than 50 years prior to Adventure 2's story, as revealed by Tails (I think) when he says the Space Colony ARK hadn't been used in 50 years, the last time obviously being when Shadow was jettisoned to Earth and Maria was killed. Shadow is way, way older than Sonic.
Also, popular theory: Since Shadow could not have been based on Sonic, his basis is the Super Sonic hieroglyphics in the Lost World stage in Adventure 1. Gerald interpreted Super Sonic as some sort of prehistoric god, and created Shadow in his image. Similarly, the Biolizard was based on Perfect Chaos, who was depicted in the same scene. So in a way, he was based on Sonic, but then Sonic was also based on Sonic, and... You know what, it just got weird.

That's what happens when you bring back a character after they're supposed to stay dead. It's why you don't make a Mother 4, that series concluded, Shadow did the same thing, except he had a "Mother 4", he was just shoehorned in due to his popularity.

Shadow just needs to keep his development from 06, his character arc hasn't ended he just needs to be in a game where he has an actual story, goals missions and is relevant to the plot not just shoehorned in every game for fanservice or is used as a popular marketing tool to attract consumers. Shadow is just one of many Sonic characters who were ruined due to bad writing and character portrayal.

aka every game after SA2? Please note that Shiro Maekawa, the writer of SA2 and basically the creator of shadow, did *not* want him to come back for Heroes. His addition in that game goes against the creator's wishes, and was done purely because Shadow was a popular character. The only game in which he had an actual story was SA2, and his story there was concluded.
06 is a reboot, he's only there because it's the next gen game, so they *need* the "cool, marketable hedgie" for it to sell. His story in that game is, contrary to what some might have you believe, a complete waste of fucking time if you want something that will alter the rest of the series (since 06's story in general is just a giant fucking trainwreck that they killed off in the exact same game to avoid the trouble of continuing it), and a nonsensical mess if 06 is seen as a continuation of SA2, since the only reason Shadow would work for GUN would be him being a complete braindead moron. Seriously, you might point to that shadow 05 scene where he acts like his past is done, but that ain't no excuse to basically have him work for the people who massacred his family. Just some food for thought if you thought 06's story was actually good.

Shadow’s music, in my eyes, in this game is one of the main reasons why I hold it in higher regard than any other Sonic game.
Everett Bradley accomplished something incomprehedably brilliant with his vision for the songs.
They transcend genre. Examples of this, are this, Supporting Me (my favourite) and Final Chase. They’re so weird, so distorted, so ambient and require such attentiveness to grasp. They’re creatively excellent and as a music and audio engineering person myself, they’re inspiring and fun to dissect.
I cannot believe they didn’t get Everett Bradley back after this game once. He brought something to the table that’s never been replicated again. A level of creativity and ingenuity to give personality and depth beyond lyrics and guitar riffs.
While Sonic has maintained quality in soundtracks, no game in the series is as diverse and creative as this one. It has something for everyone. It is an absolute masterclass and for me, a top 3 soundtrack in all of gaming.
From the minute this song begins you hear strange angry and volatile noises that are somehow still enticing.
A brilliant introduction to a brilliant character. Shadow peaked with his introduction and never reached the same level in anything after David Humphrey left.

For those who wonder why the military "mistook" Shadow for Sonic, keep these things in mind:
-It was most likely an intentional coverup like everything else related to Project: Shadow
-It was ridiculously easy to scapegoat Sonic: If you were living in Sonic's world and you heard about a supersonic anthropomorphic hedgehog with an interest in Chaos Emeralds, wouldn't you immediately think "That's Sonic!"?

Yeah,this is definitely my favorite out of all of Shadow's themes.... By a huge margin.
''I am all of me'' and the others sell him as an edgelord and I like me some metal,but this one has a lot of nuance and melancholy to it,which gave Shadow a lot of character back then IMO. I also think the more electronic vibes of his old tracks stood out a lot better than his later songs.

Throw It All Away (as well as all the tracks in the game that Everett Bradley provides vocals for) will always be the most hilariously SEGA aspect of SA2 for me.
This is a singer who's discography majorly consists of uplifting Soul and Funk style music about the casual beauties of life, yet SEGA and Sonic Team, the absolute madlads, said to themselves "You know what would be a good use of his talents? Okay, I feel like they don't get the context of the situation with Shadow being called Sonic. Shadow was moving around in the dark in the same area as Sonic. Last time we saw Sonic, he was captured and was in the same area escaping. Not only that, but Shadow was holding a chaos emerald. Last time Sonic transformed, it made his fur, eyes, and color change. For all they know, Shadow was another form for Sonic. After all, he did steal a chaos emerald. I mean, Shadow and Super Sonic have close to the same style of hair too. It's fair to say that they just assumed it was Sonic.
We know Sonic and Shadow aren't the same but how are they supposed to know that

I feel like the lyrics only fit his character in SA2.

That's kinda what they did for One Winged Angel in Advent Children since the lyrics in Advent Children are different from the original one from FF7.

You should totally listen to Never Turn Back! I feel as if it's an amazing representation of Shadow's character finally moving on from his trauma and overcoming his hardships, especially as seen in the ending of 06.

All Hail Shadow is pretty good but I prefer this.

Am I seriously the only one that only likes Shadow's character in SA2 And 06? Those are the only two games he experienced any character development, I hate what sega has done to him.
He was at his best in those games. He also has good character in Sonic Battle and maybe in Rivals games and the Chronicles RPG. He was also decent in Sonic Heroes, even with the amnesia affliction.

Yeah, SEGA after 06 had become very misguided when they made sonic games. They made Generations, Colors and Unleashed all great games, but essentially threw all the side characters to the way side only making brief appearances on cameos. Forces tried, but was not a strong game.

@Olivia 757 SA2's story isn't hated because of the game its in. I think the 2 main flaws are the plotholes and the Chessy CGI, audio mixing and voice acting. Its funny because the game itself has the highest rating on metacritic of all Sonic games, despite only 33% of the game being the best part, with 33% being meh and those other terrible 33% (I'll let you guess which stages are the terrible ones, and which one and the meh ones. A little tip: the terrible ones involves some hunting and the meh ones has to do with clunkly vehicles).
I won't talk about the CGI, audio mixing and voice acting because they're damn obvious. The plotholes aren't obvious at first, but when you get bored of laughing at the characters's terrible body movement and funny voice acting, you start to notice some holes here and there, here's some of them:
- The News report that Eggman sees from his secret base in the desert confuses Shadow with Sonic, EVEN IF THEY HAVE A CLEAR VIEW OF SHADOW. if there was barely any light directly to Shadow in that scene, since he's on a higher altitude, and there was no Zoom on his face, then It would be more believable, but the fact the News's get a clear shot from Shadow, which looks drastically different than Sonic, and STILL CALLS HIM SONIC is forced and laughable, its like the people in Sonic's universe has never saw 2 different Hedgehogs and think Sonic is the only one from its kind. Oh wait, Station Square did already: AMY freaking lived there, so there's no excuse for this oversight on the writting.
- G.U.N Soldiers also thinks Sonic is Shadow, despite not only they being colored differently, but their shoes and spines are different, Shadow also has Chest hair and rings around his gloves. Throught in this instance I think G.U.N Soldiers know they're different and are just following orders from their higher ups, while G.U.N itself is also incriminating Sonic to drive attention away from their Secret Weapon that has escaped. So you can ignore this one if you want.
- Gerald getting arrested, having enough time to give a speech before his death in the same room as G.U.N soldiers are, and this speech somehow gets uploaded to the ark on his diary, and ALSO was programmed to trigger the falling sequence from the Colony once all emeralds power up the Eclipse Cannon. Do I ever need to explain why this sounds forced? I don't think I need.
- Sonic learns how to use Chaos Control out of nowhere. He didn't practice it at any point during the game, Only saw Shadow do it Once, and to make it better: he did it with a fake, less powerful emerald. Question: How? Answer: plot armour to make eggman's genius and actual elaborated plan backfires when he should've won so the protagonist don't die and kids and adults don't cry about an antrophomorphic animal getting blown up in a capsule in Space.
And to make it EVEN BETTER: He not only warped himself EXACTLY on the same room as Knuckles, but he can also use his Chaos Control while fighting Shadow... What?
- Rouge somehow being a dumbass and slipping off the plataform Knuckles and She were after fighting for the pieces of the Master emerald, temporally forgetting she's a fucking Bat and can just fly before falling to her doom, just for a very funny "dramatic moment" and so Knuckles can save her so she can call him a Perv. Also to make the community go wild and ship them even harder than they were already possible.
- One of Tails's Stages is literally to escape the Military after they get located when Eggman destroy the moon in half. YET HE SIMPLY DOESN'T TURN HIS MECH INTO A PLANE AND FLY AWAY, apparently Tails's forgot that his mech can fly for one entire mission, incredible.
- When they have to find the entrance to eggman's hidden base, Tails's would've done it much quicker if he just got out of his Mech and flied with his tails like he was supposed to. Apparently Tails's is jealous of Eggman's Egg walker and wanna show off how much cooler his mech is. (spoilers: its not, The Egg walker feels better to control and Eggman's stages are much better than the Tails's, another downside of being included at the last minute of the game's development)
and that's just a few. Anyways its not like the 3D games's stories aren't inconsistent as hell, Heroes, 06, Shadow the hedgehog, Jesus, Shadow the hedgehog has the most bullshit storyline from any 3D sonic game from this era. It has everything from SA2 and even worse: worse Voice acting, Mediocre Story with way too many options, more than it should, terrible level design, terrible controls, Terrible Hero and Dark missions, Worst characterization of secondary characters, like the G.U.N general Blaming Shadow for Maria's death, when it was G.U.N that stormed the place and the dumbass is working FOR G.U.N, what is logic in the Sonic universe? Shadow the Hedgehog is the most edgy and nonsensical game I've ever seen, at least its meme material, like SA2.
SA2's story isn't all this perfection the die-hard 3D sonic fans claims to be. What makes it look good however is the well developed characters from the game. Characters are way more fleshed out in the Adventure era and that makes the story look way better despite its plotholes and laughable cutscenes. Shadow's troubled past, fooling Eggman to activate the eclipse Cannon to kill everyone on Earth, then realizing his actual purpose on the world and "dying" feeling satysfied with what he accomplished in homegane to his dead friend. Eggman being actually represented as a Threath, unlike the newer games were he's just a joke villain. He stormed G.U.N's military base and destroyed everything on his path, freed shadow and then used his knowledge for his goals until he realized his grandfather planned total annihilation for Earth and had to team up with Sonic to save Earth. He was his best Version in this game and Sonic Unleashed. Rouge and Knuckles being well... a girl and a boy interacting with each other so the kids can pretend they will marry one day or something like that, and for the degenerates to go wild with them. Their interactions and with their team are still good nonetheless and adds value to the story. Tails's... well, despite being crippled for the majority of the game, is still a good representation from his SA1 version, and there's even a throwback at him feeling more confident at the penultimate boss of Hero's story, where he fights eggman alone after everyone thinks Sonic has died, and wins because he's the good guy. Sonic is still Sonic in this game. He's still the same nowadays and seems to be like the only Character SEGA tries to NOT screw up with his personality.
SA2 shows that if the characters are well written, it can make up for the story. That's what makes a game like Forces terrible story-wise: Characters in Forces, with exception of Sonic. Are downgrades from their initial debuts, and that's something SEGA will always screw up with.

I love how this song was used to introduce us to Shadow in the Heroes story on Sonic Adventure 2. It gave him a mysterious yet menacing vibe for his story until we eventually learned about his past. I love "All of Me," but this song was made to be the introduction for Shadow and I love it.

As a kid growing up I never had the privilege to play systems growing up since I was born in Mexico but when I came to the US they were more common and got to experience the joy. but I remember I bought the GameCube with all the allowance I saved up and sonic adventure 2 , it was my first game and system I’ve ever owned, But I’m glad I got to experience this, once in a life time feeling. You just had to be there!
