  • On this episode, Seth is joined by Jason Slinkard of CCI and Audrey Mayes and Leland Mason of Remington Ammunition. The group discusses multi-gun action found at the Zombies in the Heartland Match at the Heartland Public Shooting Park. The conversation then shifts to some technical aspects of primers as well as what goes into the engineering and R&D of new rimfire products. We hope you enjoy this great show with some industry friends!

      Buy them from a reputable online dealer. They're out there. Just don't go to the fraudsters. Legit options include: Midsouth, Basspro, Normausa, etc. There's a lot of options out there. And usually you can find free hazmat/shipping. $0.10/p isn't uncommon right now for LRP. Not a great price, but available.

      Not really, Hodgdon gauged a few months back out of no where. Any company owned by Vista Outdoors, including Remington, Federal, CCI, Speer, Alliant, and others, absolutely refuse to even attempt to make production of anything come even remotely close to demand, while engaging in price gauging at the same time. The only ones even trying to keep up are hornady and overseas manufacturers.

    Ive taught myself to refurbish and reload spent primers, both Boxer and Berdan, 209s, percussion caps. It is doable and there are two recipes I prefer, neither of which is Prime All which is rather crude. Everytime i leave comments about this subject on YT they usually get deleted, go figure. If i told you how cheap they were to make you would be astounded. Now its just a part of the reloading process- I load the primer cups first and set anvil as I'm case prime the cartridge.

    same for powder....

    • @joearledge
      @joearledge 2 месяца назад +1

      It's part of the plan genius. MSRP on 22LR is $0.05 to $0.10 each currently. It takes more time, money, effort, and materials to make a 22LR than it does to make a primer, and they're made in smaller quantities. They don't want you to have primers and powder. The gooberment pays them to not release stuff to/ produce stuff for civilians. Ever wonder why powder literally doubled in price overnight a few months ago for no apparent reason?? Reducing/ eliminating the supply and making it unaffordable is a disarmament tactic.

    • @RKBA300WM

    The reason so many folks still shoot .22 LR when you get better ballistic performance from 22WSM or even a 17?
    Lapua, SK and RWS, even Eley don't load for anything rimfire other than .22
    When can we expect some of your companies to offer ammunition with Benchrest / Olympic consistency standard of the above mentioned manufacturers, many folks are still choosing the .22LR because its the only one that you can find ammunition loaded to handloaded quality when you look at ES and SD consistency needed for long range rimfire shooting.

    Thanks, gr8 and informative.
    I’m an addicted OCD reloader myself and often thought that my quest to consistent reloading has compensated for a lack of range time. One thing I’ve been wondering about is whether powder that enter the pimer and flash hole after reloading might equate to inconsistency. Surely this will happen to different amounts and degree. Ball powder more so compared to extruded powder I guess. Ammo being transported/stored in the vertical vs horizontal position. Vibration that over time might lead to compaction. No way that this potential space will be filled and compressed with a consistent amount of powder. Might this make a difference?? I know this comes down to splitting hair, but that’s what we do.
    I found some anecdotal information on the net of people seating primers through paper and using ‘flash hole wads’ to prevent this. More so with black powder rifles. Does anyone have more infomation or thoughts on this?
