- A Bronx woman got four to eight years in prison for illegally injecting silicone into another woman's buttocks and causing her death. NBC New York's Myles Miller reports.

The victim killed herself. She took no common sense precautions, and no one believes she honestly thought getting these injections in someone’s Bronx apartment was legitimate. Please. She wasn’t lied to, she was just trying to get a procedure for cheap and was willing to accept the consequences, and she paid the ultimate price.
She did make a conscious choice to have a bbl at someone's apartment which she paid the ultimate price

@biochemica2 not "victim blaming" but generally speaking, "life and death is in the power of the tongue..." also in action and deeds. Knowing risks for risky behavior also is you consenting...
@biochemica2 you can consent to your own death. It's called suicide
So she is a repeat offender, doing these procedures and gets only 4-8 years for taking someone's life? Doesn't seem right.
Maybe she has a good lawyer and you can Exploit the fact the victim had to have had some kind of idea she’s not a doctor.

Nope. This is a miscarriage of justice. The woman should be free. No crime was committed. The other fee-male made her choice.
If she would not have died we wouldn’t know anything about this. Her dying was a chance she took and she lost. The woman is going to jail because she imitated a doctor, more than likely.
I'm trying to figure out why they thought she was a real surgeon doctor if she was doing out her home? Doctors have medical practices with their license, certifications and degrees on the wall. This is so sad and unfortunate SMH!
A lot of these types present themselves as Doctors from foreign countries that do not have US licenses yet. They operate by word of mouth through beauty salons.
This no investigation into her background to actually look into somebody and see if they’re actually certified doesn’t take much. Obviously she didn’t care. She just wanted the injections and now they want a free check.
@@marial8235 lots of foreign doctors here, sometimes they come to teach here. If they don’t have an office or a room at the hospital they use for surgery, it should be a red flag. Very sorry for the victim.
They knew she wasn't a doctor. These people seek out these fake injectors, as they are typically referral only. She knew what it was and just like so many, they don't care. Someone they saw or know got them from her and they wanted in. It's way cheaper than any bbl and that motivates people to seek it out.

That sentence is too lenient! No wonder the victim’s family is angry. And she spent a year already in federal prison for the same crime! This was murder.
But stupid people keep her in business!
Stop! That woman chose to go to someone’s APARTMENT to get injections, she knew the possible consequences and didn’t care! This is nothing new!
Wow. Then she already knew the dangers of this so she should’ve been given a longer than usual sentence fir being a repeat offender on this same crime. If she was still giving injections after killing this woman like the family said, then she really should’ve gotten even more extra time tacked on.
The sentence shouldn't have even been jail time, this was obviously a suicide by stupidity.
Oh please, who in their right mind would go to someone apartment to get injected with anything. I don’t feel sorry for the victim. As for the idiot going to prison, I have no opinion on that.
That is a short sentence for murking somebody. Impersonating a Doctor is a charge in itself.
Light sentence in general but not by legal guidelines. If charged for the death it would be involuntary manslaughter, which some people get probation and no time behind bars. In my state it is up to 5 years in prison. So factor in the doctor impersonation part which generally carries a minimum of 1 year (or longer), her 4-8 sound about right. She needs a stiffer penalty as she doesn't seem to learn from light sentences.
@tw1982roman I thank you for this. I really don't understand this madness. It was awhile back, but I remember a report of someone using chemicals you'd find in Home Depo.

You don't have to be perfect to be loved. I'm sorry this young lady lost her life, and may her family heal.
I have to agree. 4 to 6 yrs for a life taken as a fraud doctor? She will get out and do it again. If this were your family member, would this small sentence justify the fraud of this killer? No! On the other hand, how did people get so caught up in wanting to look like everyone else? Vanity is the devils favorite sin. It leads to so many other sins.

The sentence of 4 to 5 years is deemed unjust. In comparison, a person who robs a bank would typically receive a longer sentence than the one given to this woman who has committed the act of homicide.
I agree with you but if you look in to it deeper the victims consented it was an agreement . The part that they system if charging her for it’s for impersonating a Doctor
@@ShawtyTall But you can't enter into an illegal contract. That's why Dr. Kevorkian went to prison even though a patient may have consented. Im a victim of silicone shots offered as a treatment for cellulitis in 2004 when I was 21. I am sick for life and have spent thousands of dollars on surgeries and treatments to be able to function and live a "normal life". Injections are deadly regardless of if the product is FDA approved or not. Don't do it! 4-8 years is an insult to the victims family. My condolences 😢
Typical of all the insanity in The Bronx.
A borough of people completely out of their minds !
She didn't "pose" nor "pretend" to be a doctor - she IDENTIFIED as a doctor ... she should be cleared of all charges 😒
That’s all the judge gave her was 4-8 years. She preformed medical procedures on people without a medical license. One person has lost their life and this is her second offense of something of this kind. She made this decision knowing she did not have the training or the license to do such a procedure yet she did it anyway. Life is no longer scared in this country.
Criminally negligent homicide carries a sentence up to 4 years in NY. First offender might get no time. I'm not sure on NY's sentencing for practicing medicine without a certification but it is typically up to 4 years. Had she billed insurance she would have had more charges. The judge was following sentencing guidelines. They don't always agree with the sentencing requirements but they have to stay within bounds.
That 4-8 years will be a solid deterrent to keep this type of crime under control. 🙄
It's hard to believe that anyone truly thought this was an actual doctor. Nothing about Injection in a random house in the Bronx gives Surgeon
Why would you put yourself in that risk? That woman should never get out
Unfortunately the family don't want their loved ones to be held accountable at all! Red flags & common sense obviously was ignored!!!
She probably couldn't put together a single sentence. How can anyone believe this mess was a surgeon? Not enough punishment.
She’s gonna get back out and keep doing it. She’s not gonna stop until she gets an actual jail sentence. 4-8 when she already only served one year for the same crime is a joke to her.
Why would the women choose to go to someone's house to get cosmetic work done, even though its risky since their unliscensed?
1. Don’t be desperate. If it’s inexpensive… run.
2. Call the board. Check on the persons lic. Make sure they are qualified.
3. If all that is too much… GOOGLE. Google the persons name.
4. NEVER GO TO A PERSONS HOME FOR SURGERY OR INJECTIONS OF ANY KIND.
The fact that she only got 4 years bothers me because she already served time for operating an illegal surgery facility. They should have given her 10 years min.

How can you "pose" as a doctor, without being in a doctor's office? And why are yall calling her a "patient" if she's not a doctor? She's a victim. Mkay?
What legit medical procedure is performed in someone’s home?
Here's the thing.. This has been happening for decades. Granted, there are people who pose as "fake surgeons", but not in these cases. People go to these injectors at their own free will, knowing they are getting illegal work performed but someone who is not a medical professional. They are referred by people they know personally who have gotten work done, which is why they're so comfortable rolling the dice. With all the horror stories, people are still signing up for these black market procedures, usually due to much lower costs. I understand the families of these victims are upset about the prison time, but the victim has to be held accountable as well and that is why most of these illegal injectors don't get major prison sentences. Some people get these injections and have no major problems, some have health problems later in life, and unfortunately some die.
I always have found it hard how the punishment, at times, does not fit the crime. 😖
