- Thirty-three-year-old Erica Russell, a mother of five, left her home in Tennessee in 2021 to travel to Miami for a Brazilian butt lift, or BBL - the plastic surgery procedure that has one of the highest mortality rates.
“Like many folks across the country come to Florida and seek to have these plastic surgery procedures,” said Stephen Cain, a partner with the law firm Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain, who is representing Russell’s family.
Russell had the popular plastic surgery at Seduction Cosmetic Center on SW 8th Street. State records show her surgeon, Dr. John Sampson, entered the operating room at about 6:32 that morning and performed six other surgeries before Russell's procedure, which began at about 8:31 in the evening.

I don't want to be insensitive because I imagine her family is in pain. The issue here is this lady, a mother of 5, was willing to risk her life for something so foolish. These procedures have a high mortality risk. The money she paid for this surgery could have been saved for her children's education. Prioritizing a BBL is pure ignorance. The only awareness that needs to be increased here is the awareness of having self-love and eliminating the selfish desire of plastic surgery.
I do agree but I don't want to solely blame the victim these doctors should not be performing these surgeries many have been sued many people refuse to do them and I hope they just all together get shut down. RIP to her it's so sad ❤

And to have young women with children dying over a BBL ? Makes it hard for people to stay quiet

I would never have surgery in south Florida. There are so many cases of folks other than the doctor doing the actual procedure that it just isn't funny! Not to mention that almost every doctor does not carry malpractice insurance because they are trying to avoid being targeted in such a litigious state for minor things but when something like this happens, you can't touch them either. And look, in the end, he will still get to keep practicing!

Idk what the paperwork says but performing so many surgeries in one day should be something this doctor is held accountable for. But I’ve realized, many of the doctors play with the patients’ lives and take more risks cause they think bbls are senseless anyway.

She willingly choose that surgery, it has risks including death in a certain percentage, she must have been informed, she signed informed consent form before her surgery. There was no malpractice, doctor is certified and has performed several.

My own dentist told me a long time ago not to ever schedule a procedure with any doctor after 12pm or on Fridays. He said Mon - Thursday before lunch time is the best time. So there’s no way in hell I would have any kind of surgery if I can’t be 1st or 2nd on that list in the morning Mondays - Thursdays

Thought about getting a boob job after I’m done breastfeeding honestly just to feel better about them. Soon as I started having those thoughts I started seeing so many cases of women going under the knife electively and dying. Immediately decided NOPE, I’ve got babies to live for and a husband that loves me, needs me, and knows exactly what my body did to get this way. It’s really not worth it in the grand scheme of things.

I found out that not wearing a bra at home of course helps because your chest muscles become stronger to help keep the breast from sagging. Also doing chest exercises.

I was to comment something similar. Who would want to have elective cosmetic surgery at 8:00 PM? Doctor got tired at the end of the day and would make error. With surgery, it could mean life and death.

Surgeons explain to you before your surgery the complications that could and can occur during or after surgery. These procedures have became more common and very dangerous to get (love yourself more importantly don’t be pressured into thinking you have to do anything to your body)

One of the reasons me and my ex split because I wouldn’t help pay for a BBL. I was genuinely worried the health complications after internal bleeding,not healing correctly.
